Well, that was a butt-whooping. I have to say I'm pretty surprised. Eagles head coach, Andy Reid, was 12-0 following by weeks, but still, the Eagles had yet to put a complete game together and had lost four straight games before beating Washington the week preceding their bye. But, last night, on Sunday Night Football, against division foe Dallas, the Eagles finally played well in all phases of the game and for four quarters. The Dallas Cowboys came into the game ranked 1st in the NFL in run defense. The Eagles ran for 239 yards against the vaunted Cowboys' D. They also threw for 256 net yards for a total of 495. They were 7 for 12 on 3rd down, accumulating 31 first downs in total. The team ran 70 plays and held the ball for 42:09 of the 60:00. Perhaps most importantly, the Eagles didn't turn the ball over. So, after Denver Broncos' starting quarterback, Tim Tebow, led his team to a 4th quarter comeback against the winless Miami Dolphins a week prior, he made his second start of the season yesterday against the now 6-2 Detroit Lions and the outcome was completely different. In his first start of the year, Tebow was ineffective for about 3.5 quarters, only playing well for the final few minutes of the 4th quarter. This was the case again yesterday against the Lions, but unlike the previous week, Tebow's effective last half quarter came in garbage time, when the Lions gladly sacrificed yards for time, as they were up 6 touchdowns (45-3) at that point in the game. So, even with how awful Tebow's numbers are from yesterday's game, they should actually be a heck of a lot worse. So, I heard an interesting story from a good friend of mine last night. She's had rough run of it lately when it comes to her living situation. She had been living with her husband, but filed for divorce and was forced to leave the house. She then moved in with a married couple and things were awkward from the start. She almost immediately began to look elsewhere, but due to money constraints at the time, her options were limited. Before I knew it, she moved out-of-state to be with her boyfriend. That didn't last too terribly long and she moved back in with her father and siblings. Her brother's wife was about to fly back from China and there wouldn't be room for my friend when she did that, so she was told to leave by such and such date. Lucky for her, a friend and his wife welcomed her almost right away. She's been living there for three weeks and just learned yesterday that the wife wants her to leave and she has until next Monday to do so. Fortunately, she alrea

Perhaps I'm not with the times when it comes to Facebook; I don't know. But what is the deal with Facebook-stalking? How frequently does it take place and why do people do it? I suppose "following" or "stalking" can be quite commonplace on other sites, like Twitter, Tumblr and Blogger. However, Twitter limits users to 140 characters per post and there doesn't appear to be nearly as many pictures shared, lengthy back-and-forth discussions (how deep can a discussion be when limited to 140 characters per post? Seriously?), not as much personal information shared unto the masses, etc. as Facebook. Tumblr and Blogger opens readers up to potentially more personal information about the person. However, again, the options afforded to people on these blog-esque sites are also available at Facebook, along with several others. As I do every Monday through Thursday, barring repeats, I viewed The Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night. Ideologically speaking, Stewart is definitely left of center, especially when it comes to social issues. However, unlike some other talk show hosts, like Sean Hannity and many other such hosts on cable news channels, Fox in particular, Stewart actually tries to listen to his guests and understand where they're coming from. Stewart has had many conservative guests on his program and once in a while, he might go on a long rant, but he's not angry like Hannity or O'Reilly and for the most part, he is able to engage in a very civil and thought-provoking back-and-forth with his guest. Wow... During the course of their first 5 games, there was clamor among a certain segment of Denver Broncos' fans (and fans in general) to start 2nd year quarterback Tim Tebow over Kyle Orton. I'd say a majority of this very segment (50.1% or greater) want this because they like Tebow the person, not so much Tebow the quarterback. The quarterback has not shied away from his strong Christian faith. While I myself am not affiliated with any religion, I respect what Tebow does off the field, as he involves himself in many different missions and charities to help those in need. I don't care if the guy is Christian, Muslim, Hindu or a Scientologist, if he takes time away from the game to help those in need, I'm very respectful of that. On the flip side, there are many fans whom don't much care for Tebow's being vocal about his faith. Due to this, many fans either like or dislike the quarterback, regardless of his play on the field. For the second consecutive week, the 2-4 Eagles didn't add an L to their record and will square off against the 3-3 Dallas Cowboys next week. The Giants lead the East with a 4-2 record, while Dallas and Washington are an even 3-3 with Philly at 2-4. The Giants face Miami next week, so they are all but guaranteed another victory that would push them up to 5-2. Washington has to travel to Buffalo, which is anything but a gimme. If Philly is able to trump Dallas Sunday night, they could potentially find themselves in a 3-way tie for 2nd in the division and 2 back of the Giants. There's still a long way to go, but Philly would be digging themselves in a much greater hole if they lost to Dallas next week, falling back to 2-5 and 1-2 in the division, likely 3 back of New York, 2 back of Dallas and 1 or 2 back of Washington.

Yeah, that's right. The arguable front-runner to become the Republican nominee for the 2012 presidential election's tax plan would increase taxes for 83.8% of this country. Republicans recently voted down the American Jobs Act, which would have resulted in a raise of taxes for the top 1-2%, meaning that 98-99% of the country would be unaffected. In Cain's plan, those making anywhere from under $10,000 to $200,000 would see a mean tax hike of $3,381.75, a 950% spike for those making between $10,000 and $20,000 a year. For those making between $200,000 and over $1,000,000? They'd see a mean tax cut of $175,297, including a $455,247 tax cut for those making over $1,000,000. That's right, folks. I think I may have uncovered the next "Yes We Can" slogan in the world of politics and this is quite possible, as these very words emanated from Arizona Governor Jan Brewer's mouth and there's rumor she may be a potential running mate for the Republican presidential nominee in the 2012 election. Wow, so the Philadelphia Eagles actually won today, beating the then NFC East-leading Washington Redskins by the score of 20-13 to improve to 2-4 going into their bye week. Overall, the Eagles played pretty well. I'd call it their most "complete" game of the season. Even in their only other win to this point, against St. Louis in the first week, the Eagles struggled with their rush defense and passing game, largely due to a lack of pass protection on Michael Vick. The club has been accident-prone the previous four games, committing a host of penalties and not being bashful about turning the ball over. The Eagles committed two turnovers today, one which was in the red zone and another which gave Washington excellent field position. They also had a few yellow flags thrown at their expense, but given their recent efforts, there's not a whole lot to complain about on those fronts if you're an Eagles fan. As has been well chronicled in the past week, former Green Bay Packers' quarterback, Brett Favre, had some interesting things to say about current Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers. In last weekend's game against the Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback, Michael Vick, became the all-time leading rusher amongst NFL quarterbacks, surpassing Randall Cunningham's mark of 4,928 yards with 4,946 (and plenty more to come, I'm sure). Looking back at Vick's career to this point, the guy has been hampered by injuries, but statistically speaking, it's pretty impressive what he's been able to accomplish with all those injuries and the jail sentence. As I mentioned previously, I got into a rather heated exchange (well, I was on the receiving end of his "heat". I was rather cool and collected) about Carolina Panthers' quarterback Cam Newton last weekend. The person whom was speaking to me made the claim that Newton is already great and has nothing more to prove to illustrate this, as he saw it, fact. I, on the other hand, said that while Newton has gotten off to a solid start in what will hopefully be a lengthy NFL career, I'm not going to judge the guy based on 5 (4 at the time) games. So, how do we define greatness in terms of athletes? Is there one clear definition? As usual, I think there are a variant of answers to the question of defining athletic greatness. So, word just got released that Tim Tebow will be the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos, taking over for Kyle Orton. I see only two possible reasons for this - 1. The Broncos are 1-4 and want to see what potential Tebow has for future clubs and 2. Due to the Broncos poor record and low expectations, starting Tebow could help attract fans to the games. There have been a number of Broncos fans clamoring for Tebow to start. Outside of the two before-mentioned reasons, I personally see no reason to start Tebow. I read another study today which indicated that high heels are bad for a woman's health. This wasn't groundbreaking by any means, as I've read similar findings in a host of other such studies. So, I decided to do some further research on this topic and have to say, for the life of me, I can't understand why some women consistently wear high heels, especially the 3-4'' ones. Most women I know whom consistently wear heels do so because it makes them feel attractive and sexy, shows off more of their legs, makes them feel taller and more confident and because they think men feel this way too. Often times, movie titles make sense. There lacks ambiguity, where a person unfamiliar with the general storyline could garner a good sense of the film's essence just by seeing its title. "Forrest Gump" is a good example, as the central focus of the film is a character by the name of Forrest Gump. "While You Were Sleeping" is slowly edging toward the gray area known as ambiguity, but we can still garner a decent sense of what the film's storyline is by reading the title - it has to deal with what transpires while a certain individual is sleeping. Who "you" is we can't be certain of at this juncture. "As Good As It Gets" delves even deeper into the gray known as ambiguity, as we can't really understand the central focus of the film by reading its title. "As Good As It Gets"? As good as what gets? Life? Love? Sex? A political spat between drunks at a bar? It's difficult to say by just looking at the title of this parti
