America has become 'Idiocracy'

In 2006, Mike Judge released the film Idiocracy, which is a satire on the devolution of humanity. Since he's surrounded by literal idiots, the intellectually-average Luke Wilson comes across as a genius. Upon completing the film for the first time, my initial thought was, "That may have been the cleverest stupid/stupidest clever movie I've ever seen." Unfortunately, nearly two decades later, the satire comes across as more of a prophesy than a comedy.

America has become a joke, and in no way is that funny. The people have been dumbed down; brainwashed; follow a cult-like figure; care only about themselves; and reality has essentially been turned on its head.

I feel like a genius Haley Joel Osment at the moment, as I'm surrounded by dumb people. Seriously, let's back up for a second here, and try to garner a full picture of where we stand at the moment.

We have just reelected what scholars have almost unanimously called "the worst president in the history of the United States of America." We have just reelected the first president since 1933 to leave office with fewer jobs than were present when he entered it. We have just reelected the first convicted felon to ever enter the White House (34 of them, as a matter of fact, with 54 pending). We have just reelected the first adjudicated rapist to occupy the Oval Office. We have just reelected a man who ignored the worst pandemic in a century for 9 months after its inception, which resulted in over a million deaths and tens of millions of job losses (which prompted significant inflation increases), to another 4 years as this country's leader. Why? Because he played a businessperson on TV.

That's really it. Donald Trump got his start in business by inheriting $413M from his father - who, "coincidentally," made most of it via fraud and tax evasion. Now, call me crazy, but if ANY of us inherited over $400M from our fathers, the odds would be quite good we'd be millionaires. Trump went on to bankrupt 6 companies; lose billions of dollars; stiff workers (even undocumented immigrants); and be known across the world as a horrible businessman. BUT he was the "star" of the reality-show, 'The Apprentice,' so that apparently negated all the aforementioned facts.

The main underlying reason for Trump's reelection was inflation. People can argue with me all they'd like about immigration, transgender rights, political-correctness, etc., but the main underlying reason was rising prices, post-COVID. Here's the crazy part about that - price increases started under/because of Donald Trump! The guy ignored COVID for 9 months after it struck the U.S. In said time-frame, he repeated the lie, "COVID will disappear," not once, not twice, but 38 times! This resulted in many not taking the matter seriously; the virus circulating more than it would have otherwise; killing people; and prompting 40 governors to issue lockdowns. These lockdowns resulted in tens of millions of job losses. When the lockdowns were lifted, demand was at pre-COVID levels, while supply could not come close to being met, given the fact we were without tens of millions of workers. This prompted significant price increases. Also, it's not like this problem was isolated to the U.S. It was felt globally. So, the root cause of our inflation problem started before Joe Biden entered office and wasn't isolated to the U.S., BUT it's somehow Joe Biden's fault and Donald Trump - the man who was in office when the problem first began - will somehow fix it?

On top of all this, while many people's wallets are still hurting, and I understand that, if we stand back and place things in their proper context, the U.S. should have suffered a recession. We should have suffered what's termed a 'hard-landing,' but Joe Biden and his administration did everything possible to prevent that, and guess what? Mission accomplished. We have been stronger economically, post-COVID, than every other developed nation. We avoided a recession; experienced the softest landing possible; and yet our response is to remove the party which helped us avoid said mess and replace it with the party who put us into the mess in the first place.

Oh, and I haven't even gotten to the best part yet. When analyzing both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris's economic plans, economists - both on the left and the right - almost unanimously agreed the Democratic nominee's proposals were much better for the country than Trump's. As a matter of fact, they said Trump's policies, if implemented, would be detrimental to the economy, and could potentially lead us to another Great Depression. According to them, said policy proposals would cut into the GDP by 8.9%; prices would skyrocket; and the economy would collapse.

Lastly, we - especially conservatives and Republicans - like to refer to the United States as a "Christian" nation. Yet whom did these conservatives and Republicans just reelect?

A man who:

- was found liable for raping a woman

- was found liable for fraud on multiple occasions

- was found liable for defamation twice

- was convicted on 34 felony counts

- was charged with 54 additional felonies

- was accused by an ex-wife of rape

- was alleged to have raped a 13-year-old girl

- was said to have been best friends with Jeffrey Epstein, and spend many occasions with him, in the presence of nude, underage girls

- was witnessed sneaking in on underage girls dressing and undressing at Miss Teen USA pageants

- has a disturbing sexual attraction to his own daughter

- paid an adult-film star hush-money to stay quiet about their affair (judging by her testimony, it's quite possible he raped her too)

- bragged about being able to get away with sexually-assaulting women

- lied 30,573 times during his 4 years in office

- was impeached twice - once for bribing an ally and another time for inciting an insurrection

- tried to overturn a U.S. election

- has a long history of: sexism, racism, xenophobia, homophobia, and transphobia

- appears to be cognitively declining

- regularly incites hatred, anger, and violence

Seriously, if Jesus is Christ, Donald Trump is anti-Christ, for he is the polar opposite of Jesus in every respect.

So, there we have it. Our "Christian" nation has reelected a literal "anti-Christ." We've reelected a man to save democracy, who actively tried to end it. We've reelected a guy to fix the economy he broke. We are the stupidest country in the world.

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

The difference between "looking" and "checking out"

I may be way off with these numbers, but it's my approximation that at least 75% of individuals whom are involved in a serious relationship feel it's perfectly acceptable to "check out" members of the opposite sex they're not involved with. Meanwhile, approximately 25% either don't feel this is acceptable or aren't sure about the matter. I hadn't thought about this matter for a while, but since I've been dating a woman for about 8 months, the topic has been pondered about some. When reading or hearing others discuss this very issue, I often times hear comments similar to the following: "It's human nature to look." "There's nothing wrong with checking others out. I'm sure he/she does it too!" "It's fine to do it. Just don't tell your boyfriend/girlfriend about it or do it in front of them!" "It's natural to find people attractive." When observing the array of comments, I i...
