Another 5-star book review!

I just received another 5-star review for my latest book, LOL at the GOP - Volume 6: Orange Is the New Crazy . The review goes as follows: "Craig Rozniecki's LOL at the GOP -Volume 6: Orange is the New Crazy had me in stitches from page one. I mean, it's yugely funny. I've been following Rozniecki on Twitter for quite a while but this is the first of the LOL books I've read. I'll be back for more. Starting with the book review written by Trump in the "fictional forward," it's almost impossible to parse Rozniecki's comedy from what Trump & other GOP stalwarts actually said throughout the campaign. I was bigly confused and chuckling at the same time but Rozniecki's adept at pointing out the comedic Trump et al comments from his own. Believe me, hard to tell. And that's the beauty. Chapter by chapter, he takes on Cruz, Walker, Jindal, Carson, Priebus & Bush, etc in fine comedic fashion, wrapped up in pointed political insigh

Let's cut right to the chase. There's no such thing as "alternative facts."

On January 22nd's episode of Meet the Press , Donald Trump senior advisor Kellyanne Conway defended Trump press secretary Sean Spicer's debunked claim that Donald Trump's inauguration crowd was larger than it actually was by telling host Chuck Todd, "You're saying it's falsehoods. And they're giving - Sean Spicer, our press secretary - gave alternative facts." I'm sorry, but there's no such thing as alternative facts. "Alternative fact" is synonymous with falsehood, lie, bullsh*t, malarkey, etc. When a comment runs contrary to a well-established fact, that comment isn't a fact in any sense of the word; it's simply false. Just imagine if we used Ms. Conway's line of thinking throughout the course of our lives... Setting: Math class Professor Ymidoingthis: "Can anyone tell me what 7 x 7 is?" Ronald Rump: "14" Ymidoingthis: "I'm sorry, but that's incorrect. The answer is 49."

Trump's America is Amerikkka

Throughout his campaign, Donald Trump talked about "making America great again," as many of his supporters claimed that we were "gonna take our country back." As is often the case with political slogans and talking points, Trump's were vague, to be kind. He never specified on when America was "great" in his eyes, what era he was taking us back to, and how exactly he was going to do it. One week into his presidency and we have a clearer idea of what Trump's "great" America looks like, and it's not America at all. The United States has long prided itself on freedom and diversity. While we Americans often like to exaggerate the former, as we'll delusionally say that we're the freest country in the history of the world, we are afforded liberties for which citizens of third-world countries would give anything. Also, while some people in this country may not be overly enthused about our high level of diversity, it's impossible

Some executive order math

Remember when Donald Trump and his followers contended that then President Barack Obama was a tyrant because of all the executive orders he passed? Well, allow me to show everyone, including them, some interesting numbers pertaining to that. I was born in 1981, so let's just compare and contrast the number of executive orders starting with Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan: 381 (average of 47.63 per year) George H.W. Bush: 166 (41.50 p/year) Bill Clinton: 364 (45.50 p/year) George W. Bush: 291 (36.38 p/year) Barack Obama: 275 (34.38 p/year) So let's now rank these five presidents in descending order: 1) Ronald Reagan: 47.63 p/year 2) Bill Clinton: 45.50 p/year 3) George H.W. Bush: 41.50 p/year 4) George W. Bush: 36.38 p/year 5) Barack Obama: 34.38 p/year So, among these five presidents, Barack Obama averaged to issue the fewest executive orders per year. Who averaged to issue the most? Republican God Ronald Reagan. Through six days of Donald Trump's t

Thanks, Obama

It's been 3+ days since the inauguration of Donald Trump and I still have trouble coming to the realization that Barack Obama is no longer in the White House. While I know there were some promises he made which he either didn't keep or compromised, and there were some decisions he made which I didn't agree with, I'll still always see him as my president, as the first candidate on either side of the aisle who I sincerely fought to get elected, and I'd like to say thanks. For trying to bring us together, In spite of heavy obstruction, Never wanting to lose hope, Thanks, Obama, For favoring diplomacy over warfare, Thinking about our soldiers' lives first, For thinking before reacting, Thanks, Obama, For providing equality to more, Evolving on marriage rights, Looking past creed, gender, and race, Thanks, Obama, For bringing healthcare to millions, Saving lives in the process, Trying to do what's right, Thanks, Obama, For always keeping you

The meaning of friendship

Like many words, friendship is difficult to define in absolute terms, however, I do believe that there are some necessary components to a friendship which are nearly universal. In my opinion, here are some of those very components (with rare exceptions of course): - Friends try to life one another up, not tear each other down - Friends will be there to listen or give advice when needed, but not lecture whenever they feel like - Friends will give out of the kindness of their own hearts, not for something in return - Friends will make you feel like time with you is precious, not a burden - Friends will look out for your best interests, not how these interests will affect them - Friends will attempt to learn and be aware of your sensitivities, not try to learn them for the simple purpose of poking at them during future debates/arguments - Friends will show a consistent interest in you and your life, not just during the times when they need help - Friends will be forgiving,

If you're down with the ACA, you're down with Obamacare

While I think it's quite sad I feel the need to do this, due to some polls, articles, and video clips I've seen in recent days, I thought I'd just send the friendly reminder that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Obamacare are the same thing. When someone talks about Obamacare, they're talking about the Affordable Care Act, and when someone talks about the Affordable Care Act, they're talking about Obamacare. When someone uses the abbreviation ACA, that stands for the Affordable Care Act, which is Obamacare. The End.

My weekend discussion with a Trumpster

On inauguration day, I decided to meet up with some fellow progressive friends and get plastered. One friend sported a satirical Trump t-shirt I designed for her, while I wore one which said, "Thanks Obama." At this particular bar, we bumped into a middle-aged man who was proudly wearing a Trump/Pence shirt. When I first walked past him, he tapped my shoulder and said something along the lines of, "How's your cell phone? Now that Obama's not president, it's probably not working too well, is it?" He then laughed, I shook my head, and walked away. I honestly had no idea what he was talking about, but after thinking on matters, I figured he was probably referring to the debunked conspiracy that the Obama administration created a program which gave away free cell phones to poor people, because, you know, free cell phones equals votes, even when a third term isn't possible. Later in the evening, after talking with some friends of mine near the Trumpst

Dumb hashtag of the day: #NotMySuperBowl

Earlier today, some Trump supporters took to Twitter to try and mock anti-Trumpers' #NotMyPresident hashtag with their own, #NotMySuperBowl. They obviously thought this was clever, but as so often seems to be the case of Trumpsters, their attempt at being witty here failed, and failed quite epically at that. To try and compare #NotMyPresident with #NotMySuperBowl is a prime example of false equivalence. The #NotMyPresident hashtag was in response to the result of the presidential election, the final contest in the race to become our next president. The #NotMySuperBowl hashtag, however, was in response to two semifinal games, which of course means there's one remaining. If Trumpsters wanted to properly compare the two, they could have gone with a #NotMyElection hashtag, but then would run the risk of being mistaken as both "Never Hillary" and "Never Trump," when that likely wouldn't be the case, especially of the latter. If these Trump supporters had aw

As Donald Trump would put it, the playoffs have been "sad!"

I don't care how big of a football fan you are, college or pro, the playoffs this year have reeked more than a freshly sprayed skunk going on a shower strike. Let me run down the scores of these 13 games: NCAA Alabama 24 Washington 7 Clemson 31 Ohio State 0 Clemson 35 Alabama 31 Total score: 90 - 38 = 52 (averages of 30.0 -  12.7 = 17.3) NFL Houston 27 Oakland 14 Pittsburgh 30 Miami 12 Seattle 26 Detroit 6 Green Bay 38 NY Giants 13 Atlanta 36 Seattle 20 New England 34 Houston 16 Green Bay 34 Dallas 31 Pittsburgh 18 Kansas City 16 Atlanta 44 Green Bay 21 New England 36 Pittsburgh 17 Total score: 323 - 175 = 148 (averages of 32.3 - 17.5 = 14.8) Combined scores: 413 - 213 = 200 (averages of 31.8 - 16.4 = 15.4) Of the 13 playoff games that have been played thus far, only 3 have been decided by one possession (23.1%), while 8 have been decided by three possessions or more (61.5%). If we exclude the three one-possession games, the combined score of these 10 playoff

Mo Brooks' "war on whites" never included slavery...

Alabama Representative Mo Brooks isn't shy about making controversial remarks, yet he still found a way to raise a few eyebrows with his most recent comment, as he said this with regard to Democrats' critique of Donald Trump's pick for attorney general, Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions: "It's really about political power and racial division and what I've referred to on occasion as the 'war on whites.' They are trying to motivate the African-American vote to vote-bloc for Democrats by using every 'Republican is a racist' tool that they can envision. Even if they have to lie about it." I'm sorry, but this comment is stupid beyond words. There is no "war on whites" in this country; there is simply a war on equality led by whites (this includes Mo Brooks). Let's place things into their proper perspective here. Slavery Brooks: "War on whites!" Segregation Brooks: "War on whites!" Discriminatory cr

My review of Green Day's new album, "Revolution Radio"

Let it be known for the record I've always been a fan of Green Day. From 1,039 Slappy Hours to Kerplunk to Dookie to Insomniac to Nimrod to Warning , I found Green Day to be a fun punk alternative rock band I could casually listen to at a party, in the car, or while working out. With their releases of American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown in 2004 and 2009, respectively, however, I went from a casual fan to a die-hard fan of the band. Their music evolved both sonically and lyrically, and the band which once named an album after poop was now creating classic concept rock operas which would soon find their way on Broadway (at least in the former's case). Green Day then went to their old bag of tricks with Uno , Dos , and Tré , before releasing their latest album, Revolution Radio.  After listening to the new album several times now, I thought I'd review it track-by-track, and follow that up with some closing thoughts. 1) "Somewhere Now" (8/10): This song opens

Deep Thoughts with Bobby Bowden

Former Florida State head football coach Bobby Bowden recently came under fire when the 87-year-old was interviewed by Mike Golic. During their discussion, Bowden said this: "My last years at Florida State, 65 or 70% of my boys did not have a daddy at home. They were raised by mommas, sweet ol' mommas. Thank god for them mommas. Or grandmomma. Many times it was grandmomma, or big sister, or aunt. But where's the man? A boy needs a male figure. And the girls do too. Somebody to discipline them and make them be a man. I used to kid about this, you know, they grow and wanna be like their momma. A boy needs a male figure. And the girls do too. Somebody to discipline them and make them be a man. I used to kid about this you know, they grow up and they want to be like their mama. That's the way they were raised. That's why they wear earrings." After Golic provided a nervous laugh and attempted to change the subject, Bowden chimed in by saying, "I'm ki

Movie recommendation: "What's In a Name?"

For whatever reason, I've been on a foreign film kick of late, and thought I'd recommend yet another to my readers. It's a French film by the name of What's In a Name? , where a dinner party goes from calm and friendly to angry and chaotic over a guest's idea for a baby name - Adolphe. This guest and one of the host's then heatedly debate on whether or not any child should be subjected to such a name due to Adolf Hitler. This dramedy's dialogue takes several twists and turns through it's nearly two hours, often sharp and funny, yet this exchange is at the core of what the film's about, and it got me to thinking (yes, scary thought, I know). I hate to play off the film's title, but seriously, "What's In a Name?" Now, would I ever name or think about naming my child Adolf/Adolphe? No. But why is that? Have I been programmed to believe all things affiliated with that name are evil because of one man, and is this right/fair? What abou

Change.org isn't aptly named at times...

On Saturday afternoon, the Atlanta Falcons played their final regular season game at the Georgia Dome. Among those who were invited to attend was former Falcons starting quarterback Michael Vick. While Vick received a standing ovation at the game, not everyone was pleased with his invitation or attendance, as a petition generated by Change.org received over 30,000 signatures to try and prevent the former star quarterback from attending the Falcons final regular season home game. On the petition, it said: "By inviting Michael Vick to participate in a ceremony on Sunday, the Falcons are honoring a convicted dogfighter who profited from cruelty to animals for years. Please sign this petition and let the Falcons know that NFL fans do not support Vick and do not condone his actions." Now, as far as I see it, anyone with a beating heart would likely have difficulty condoning Michael Vick's previous actions with relation to dogfighting. As a four-time dog owner myself, in

Mentioned on the International Business Times

Due to a #CharlesManson tweet of mine last night, I got mentioned on the International Business Times . No, the author of the article doesn't appear to grasp satire very well, but regardless, it was nice to be mentioned. http://www.ibtimes.co.in/charles-manson-hospitalised-twitteratis-think-he-just-trying-get-out-playing-trump-710960
