A Majority of Republicans Support a Sexual Predator on the Supreme Court

So I read through a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll's findings today. Here were some of the early documented results: - 58% of Americans claim they'll pay close or very close attention to the Brett Kavanaugh/Christine Blasey Ford hearing tomorrow. - 32% believe Ford; 26% believe Kavanaugh; and 42% aren't sure who to believe. - 38% support Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court, while 43% oppose it. - 59% oppose Kavanaugh's nomination if the sexual misconduct allegations are found to be true. - 37% are more likely to vote for a politician in the midterms who opposes Kavanaugh's nomination, while 32% are more likely to go the opposite route. That's when we get to the big finding, the finding which should send shockwaves to some people. According to this reputable pollster, a majority, 54% of Republicans think Brett Kavanaugh should be confirmed as the next Supreme Court Justice regardless of whether or not the sexual misconduct allegations ar

What I learned in Week 3 of the NFL season

In Week 3 of the NFL season, I learned that... - ..., after being listed as a robot on the census for 41 years, Tom Brady is now officially labeled as a human. - ...victory is spelled f-r-e-e b-e-e-r. - ...Jon Gruden is regretting he turned down a role in the next Child's Play film. - ..., outside of the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals, Dennis Green's "They are who we thought they were!" quote doesn't apply to anybody. - ...Andrew Luck is anti-Catholic, for he's unwilling to have anything to do with a Hail Mary. - ..., with Jimmy Garoppolo going down with a season-ending knee injury, the San Francisco 49ers are reportedly looking to replace him with George Stephanopoulos, George Papadopoulos, or Mr. Snuffleupagus. - ...the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is playing at such a high level, (Madden) gamers may soon refer to such off-the-wall statistics as Mahomes numbers. - ...Clay Matthews III will soon write a book, entitled, How To Get Fla

BREAKING NEWS: Donald Trump told the truth! Water is indeed wet!

Donald Trump told the truth today. I believe it may have been the first time since he entered the White House that such a thing has occurred. Now, I don't want to give the guy too much credit here, for his honest moment still made him come across like a bumbling idiot. Let me give you a full taste of Trump's moment of truth: "I just wanna thank all of the incredible men and women who have done such a great job in helping with Florence. This is a tough hurricane, one of the wettest we've ever seen from the standpoint of water. Rarely have we had an experience like it, and it certainly is not good, but the people of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, all of the areas affected, you've been incredible. There's been a loss of life, and may God be with them and their families. That's a tough one, it's tough to understand, but this has been a really difficult period of time for a lot of people. FEMA, the job you've done, the military, uh, Coast Gu

The Little Ten's Big Failure of a Weekend

From Nebraska, to Michigan, to Ohio, I seem to always be in Big Ten country. Similar to other parts of the country with regard to their respective conferences, there are a lot of Big Ten homers in the area. I don't know how that can be the case after this past weekend's results. - Then unbeaten Illinois allowed 18 4th quarter points to blow a lead against South Florida, losing to the Bulls 25-19. - Unbeaten Maryland got pounded by winless Temple, 35-14. - Nebraska fell to Troy in Lincoln, 24-19. - Akron came back on the road to defeat Northwestern by the final of 39-34. - Purdue lost to Missouri at home, 40-37. - Rutgers got blown out by Kansas, yes, Kansas, 55-14. - The fighting Mormons, BYU, beat playoff sleeper Wisconsin 24-21. - Michigan State was off a week after dropping one in Temple against Arizona State (who lost to San Diego State this past Saturday night). - Michigan struggled in a win against SMU; Ohio State came THIS close to losing to TCU; Iowa d

What I learned in Week 2 of the NFL season...

In Week 2 of the NFL season, I learned that... - ...Eli Manning saw his shadow, which means 6 more weeks of lying on his back on game day. - ...it's being reported place kickers Zane Gonzalez and Daniel Carlson missed post-game while sitting on their respective urinals. - ...it's highly likely Buffalo and Arizona listen to Beck's "Loser" for inspiration during their pre-game warmups. - ...Josh Gordon has proven that good things come to those who are late, as this very act resulted in him going from Cleveland to New England. - ...Ryan Fitzpatrick undoubtedly inspired the LMFAO hit, "Sexy and I Know It." - ...the Pittsburgh Steelers have a worse defense than when a wife catches her husband in bed with her sister and he responds, "It's for a study!" - ..., when asked if Sam Bradford is a more effective quarterback off the field than on it, the uncensored magic 8-ball responded, "F*ck to the yes!" - ..

What I learned in Week 1 of the NFL season...

In Week 1 of the NFL season, I learned that... - ..., in 2017 the NFL asked, "What is a catch?," in 2018 the NFL is asking, "What is a tackle?," so in 2019 it's all but inevitable the NFL will ask, "What is a football?" - ...Le'Veon Bell can be found on the dating site MeHarmony.com. For the record, he likes long, no-contact walks on the beach. - ...Matt Ryan is still the champion of the Cleveland Browns-invented game of "I Bet You Can't Lose This!" - ..., due to the atrociousness of their team, Buffalo Bills fans will take a page out of Colin Kaepernick's book and protest by taking a knee throughout the duration of their team's games this season. - ...AARP President Adam Vinatieri is still playing. - ...the New Orleans pee-wee cellar dweller is scheduled to teach the Saints how to play defense. - ..., due to the implementation of this season's rules, a defender looking in the quarterback's direction for

Muse Fans Often Unamused

It was just announced that Muse will be releasing their 8th studio album, Simulation Theory , on November 9th. The band has sporadically released four the the coming album's tracks to this point, along with sci-fi-esque music videos: "Dig Down," "Thought Contagion," "Something Human," and "The Dark Side." As with every Muse album, I'm excited, but like with every Muse album, it seems all I hear from self-described fans of the band is negativity. If I'm a homer with anything, it's Muse's music. There are some songs I definitely don't like as much as others, but I can't remember a single Muse song I heard, where I immediately thought, "Wow, that's crap!" I think one reason for this is I go into every Muse album with an open mind. The one constant with Muse is change. Some people hate that, including old-school Muse fans, but I love it. I like not knowing what to expect sonically with a new album, yet know

The Social Media Mob

Social media is a fascinating entity. It's allowed us to connect friends and family, no matter where they may reside. It's allowed us to interact with complete strangers on the other side of the world. It's helped limit total control of what would otherwise be dictatorial governments. It's helped bring people together to fight for equality and progress in other areas. Where there are pros, there are cons, however, and one of the most frustrating aspects of social media has been a certain mob mentality, which has infected both sides of the political spectrum. For as much as I hate to say it, the left is just as guilty as the right (if not more so) on this issue. If one person, typically of the celebrity variety, makes a controversial comment on a social media site, there seems to be an instant horde of people condemning him/her. There have been times when the original poster has been able to ignore such vitriol, but other times when said vitriol has led them to close t

So, I listened to the Will Cain Show the other day...

With the football season underway, I've found myself listening to more ESPN radio lately. While driving for an hour over the past week, I found myself listening to The Will Cain Show . Will Cain is a former conservative analyst, who I tend to find myself disagreeing with on most every matter that is political, so I was curious to hear what the lad had to say regarding the world of sports. Here's what I discovered... Will Cain is unafraid of going against the grain. This is both interesting and annoying. When he comes across as genuine, it's more of the former. There are times, however, when the guy seems determined to be different just for the sake of being different, comes across as phony, and I start hearing nails against the chalkboard while Ben Stein is yodeling Queen songs. Admittedly, Cain makes a good point here and there. When Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers recently signed a mammoth contract extension, the radio host rightly stated, and I'm para

Why I'm indifferent on the Colin Kaepernick-Nike relationship

I find the high octane bickering about former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick becoming the new face of Nike interesting, yet perplexing. While I've long supported Kaepernick and those like him using their first amendment rights to peacefully protest, I'd also be the first to point out Kaepernick is anything but the perfect role model for the cause. On the other side of the deal, Nike also doesn't have a perfect reputation when it comes to measures of equality. I give Colin Kaepernick credit for trying to walk the talk after basically getting blackballed by the NFL. He's appeared to devote a great deal of his time doing charity events, volunteer work, and donating to charitable causes. However, his march for awareness and equality has been anything but a smooth ride. This bumpy road peaked, in my opinion, when he admitted to not voting in the 2016 presidential election. Look, I get it - there's more that can be done to implement change than to get
