Week 10 NFL Predictions

Thursday
Game: Cleveland at Cincinnati

Pick: Cincinnati - All four AFC North teams have been quite unpredictable to this point in the season, including Cleveland and Cincinnati. With this game at home and A.J. Green back, however, I'm going to give the slight edge to the Bengals. I'll take Cincy by 6.

Result: Cleveland 24 Cincinnati 3

Record: 0-1

Sunday
Game: Kansas City at Buffalo

Pick: Kansas City - While I like how veteran Kyle Orton has brought some stability to the offense, I simply like how Kansas City is playing football right now, on both sides of the ball. Due to that, I expect the suddenly resurgent Chiefs to squeak by the Bills in a tough road game. I'll take KC by 4.

Result: Kansas City 17 Buffalo 13

Record: 1-1

Game: Miami at Detroit

Pick: Miami - To this point in the season, I'm not convinced Detroit is as good as their record would indicate. Perhaps unfairly, I keep expecting them to regress on defense and lose a few games. If you had told me a month ago Miami would be 5-3 and one of the hotter teams in football, I would have called you nuts. However, after destroying San Diego 37-0 this past Sunday, the Dolphins have won three straight and have outscored their opponents 91-27 in that time. I expect this game to be much closer than their previous three, but look for the Dolphins to win their fourth straight, upending the Lions on the road by a field goal.

Result: Detroit 20 Miami 16

Record: 1-2

Game: Dallas vs. Jacksonville (in London)

Pick: Dallas - With or without Tony Romo starting, I like for the Cowboys to end their two-game skid and beat the one-win Jaguars by 10.

Result: Dallas 31 Jacksonville 17

Record: 2-2

Game: San Francisco at New Orleans

Pick: New Orleans - These two teams sit at 4-4 and appear to be going in opposite directions. San Francisco now sits in 3rd place in the NFC West, behind both Arizona and Seattle, after finding a way to lose to St. Louis 13-10. New Orleans, at 4-4, now sits atop the NFC South after defeating Carolina on the road on Thursday night. With the Saints appearing to finally be getting on track and being a much better home team, I like for the trends to continue and for New Orleans to win this one by a touchdown.

Result: San Francisco 27 New Orleans 24 OT

Record: 2-3

Game: Tennessee at Baltimore

Pick: Baltimore - Baltimore now knows how Indianapolis felt two Sundays ago after they saw their battered secondary get lit up by Ben Roethlisberger. With this game at home, though, I like for the Ravens to get back on track and improve to 6-4 with a two-score victory against the Titans.

Result: Baltimore 21 Tennessee 7

Record: 3-3

Game: Pittsburgh at NY Jets

Pick: Pittsburgh - While the New York Jets offense looked to be more in sync and less careless with Michael Vick behind center than Geno Smith, their secondary is battered beyond all belief and will facing the hottest quarterback in all of football, in Ben Roethlisberger. The only chance the Jets have of winning this game is if their offense dominates time of possession and their defense finds a way to get a couple of turnovers. I'm not expecting both of those things to occur, so I'll take the suddenly hot Steelers by a couple of touchdowns.

Result: NY Jets 20 Pittsburgh 13

Record: 3-4

Game: Atlanta at Tampa Bay

Pick: Atlanta - This is a nightmare match-up for any analyst to pick. While Atlanta has been pretty solid at home, they've been dreadful on the road, and Tampa Bay has been dreadful no matter where they've played. Coming off a bye week, however, I think the well rested and prepared Falcons will finally get back on the winning track with a 6-point win on the road against the Bucs.

Result: Atlanta 27 Tampa Bay 17

Record: 4-4

Game: Denver at Oakland

Pick: Denver - While Oakland has been showing signs of improvement through the past 3-4 weeks, they're still losing each and every game, and for as peeved as Peyton Manning and the Broncos are going to be following their embarrassing loss to the Patriots on Sunday, look for Denver to take out their frustrations in Oakland and to win this one by at least two touchdowns.

Result: Denver 41 Oakland 17

Record: 5-4

Game: St. Louis at Arizona

Pick: Arizona - Arizona is like the antithesis of the Raiders. While Oakland may just find ways to lose games, the Cardinals are just finding ways to win games. Expect for that trend to continue with another win at home. I'll go with Arizona by a touchdown.

Result: Arizona 31 St. Louis 14

Record: 6-4

Game: NY Giants at Seattle

Pick: Seattle - One area where Seattle has been lacking this year is in the special teams. From the two wacky plays which ultimately doomed them against St. Louis to this past weekend when Oakland blocked a punt and recovered the ball in the end zone for a touchdown, the Seahawks will definitely need to improve in that area if they want to even think about repeating as Super Bowl champions. Fortunately for them, with this game at home against the Giants, I don't think a lack of good special teams plays will hinder them enough to result in another upset loss. I'll take Seattle at home by a touchdown.

Result: Seattle 38 NY Giants 17

Record: 7-4

Game: Chicago at Green Bay

Pick: Green Bay - This pick will ultimately depend on the health of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. After he injured his hamstring against the Saints two Sunday nights ago, Green Bay's offense just wasn't the same. With the game at home, though, the opponent being the Bears, and Rodgers being steadfast in saying he'll play, I'll give the early edge to Green Bay. Packers by a touchdown.

Result: Green Bay 55 Chicago 14

Record: 8-4

Monday
Game: Carolina at Philadelphia

Pick: Philadelphia - It makes me slightly nervous to place a great deal of faith in quarterback Mark Sanchez, but with as many weapons as he has around him on offense, so long as he doesn't force things any, I think he should be fine. Also, to say Carolina is struggling would be quite the understatement. They're simply not the same team this year, especially on defense. So, even with Nick Foles out of the lineup for the Eagles, I'm going to give them the advantage at home. I'll take Philly by a touchdown.

Result: Philadelphia 45 Carolina 21

Record: 9-4

Week 10 Record: .692

Overall Record: 92-54-1 (.626)

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun

The difference between "looking" and "checking out"

I may be way off with these numbers, but it's my approximation that at least 75% of individuals whom are involved in a serious relationship feel it's perfectly acceptable to "check out" members of the opposite sex they're not involved with. Meanwhile, approximately 25% either don't feel this is acceptable or aren't sure about the matter. I hadn't thought about this matter for a while, but since I've been dating a woman for about 8 months, the topic has been pondered about some. When reading or hearing others discuss this very issue, I often times hear comments similar to the following: "It's human nature to look." "There's nothing wrong with checking others out. I'm sure he/she does it too!" "It's fine to do it. Just don't tell your boyfriend/girlfriend about it or do it in front of them!" "It's natural to find people attractive." When observing the array of comments, I i

The verdict is in. To no one's surprise, Jonathan Hoenig has been found guilty of being an idiot.

Just recently, when discussing the Michael Brown shooting and whether or not race had anything to do with it, Fox News contributor Jonathan Hoenig said, "You know who talks about race? Racists." One moment while I provide Mr. Hoenig with the well deserved slow-clap. :: slow-claps for two seconds :: So, that was quite the line by Mr. Hoenig, wasn't it? "You know who talks about race? Racists." Well, wasn't he just talking about race? So, by his own words, I guess that makes him a racist. Also, if he wants to be consistent, does this mean that people whom talk about gender are sexists and people whom talk about sexual orientation are homophobes? With that line of thinking, Hoenig would engage in the following back-and-forths: Hoenig: "So, who are you voting for?" A woman: "The Democratic candidate, because he's been adamant about his support for equal rights for women." Hoenig: "You sexist feminist nazi!"
