New England Patriots 38 Philadelphia Eagles 20

...and it wasn't even that close, as the Eagles scored a touchdown with 32 seconds left to make the score appear a little more respectable.

The really sad part about this game (if you're an Eagles fan) is the fact Philadelphia led 10-0 at one point, only to get outscored 38-3 until the final score with about half a minute left on the game clock.

Last week was arguably the Eagles' best all-around defensive effort, as they shut down the New York Giants, holding them to 29 yards rushing and 10 points. No such luck this time around. Philly's run defense played pretty well, as they allowed just 2.9 yards per carry, but their secondary didn't fare well. Tom Brady had a field day for the Patriots, completing 24 of 34 pass attempts for 361 yards, 3 touchdowns and a quarterback rating of 134.6.

Offensively, sure, the Eagles got their yards, but only 20 points (13 through the first 59:28). Andy Reid largely abandoned the running game, as LeSean McCoy carried the ball just 10 times for 31 yards. The team rushed it a total of just 17 times for 73 yards, 4.3 per pop. Vince Young's second start was definitely better than his first. He wasn't all too accurate, completing just 26 of 48 pass attempts, but posted a solid 8.3 yards per pass attempt, in finishing with 400 yards through the air. He was picked off once, his fifth interception in two games (and one play, as his lone pass before these two starts was an interception against the Washington Redskins).

At this point, the Eagles would need a miracle to climb back into the playoff discussion. They're now 4-7 and with five games left to go, would, at best, finish 9-7. It's unknown at this time if quarterback Michael Vick or wideout Jeremy Maclin will be able to go for the Eagles' Thursday night game against Seattle. Every game from this point is a must win for the Eagles to even have a remote chance at playing beyond 16 games. With the Cowboys and Giants being in the division, anything is possible, but not at all likely.

It's been a nightmare season for the Eagles. With such high hopes and expectations entering the season, they likely won't even make the playoffs. Michael Vick has been playing banged up all year, suffering a concussion, what was thought to have been a broken hand and now broken ribs. Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson have nagged with injuries as well. The defense has had two very good games out of eleven, but otherwise, haven't been very effective, especially against the run. The team has hindered their own cause through penalties and turnovers. The play-calling has been rather suspect at times. Vick wasn't well protected when behind center. The team has blown the lead in the 4th quarter in five games. For some strange reason, at game's end, the Eagles have found a way to lose, almost as if they don't have much confidence they can win after 60 minutes of football. A lot of decisions will have to be made this off-season, especially when it comes to the coaching staff.

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

Face guarding is legal in college football and the NFL

I just wanted to remind fans and announcers especially, that face guarding is legal in both college football and the NFL. It all comes down to contact. So long as a defender doesn't make contact with an intended receiver, he doesn't have to turn around to play the ball. I can't tell you how many times every week I hear announcers talk about face guarding being a penalty. It's not. I even heard one announcer yesterday state, "If the defender doesn't turn around and play the ball, the ref will call pass interference every time." That's simply not true. Courtesy of referee Bill LeMonnier, he says this with regard to the rule at the college level (answered on 8/12/13): "NCAA rules on pass interference require the face guarding to have contact to be a foul. No contact, no foul by NCAA rules." In the NFL rule book, this is written:  "Actions that constitute defensive pass interference include but are not limited to: (a) Contact by a ...
