The GOP Hearts Putin

Rand Paul may have recently won the straw poll at CPAC, but if it were legally possible, I have a hunch Russian President Vladimir Putin would have been the big winner among conservative Republicans this past weekend. Don't believe me? Feel free to ask some of the supposed leaders of the conservative movement.

"People are looking at Putin as one who wrestles bears and drills for oil. They look at our president as one who wears mom jeans and equivocates and bloviates." - Sarah Palin

"Putin sees himself as a macho man who's going to do pretty much what he wants. The president sees himself as a renaissance man who wants to accommodate." - Bill O'Reilly

"Putin decides what he wants to do and he does it in half a day, right? He decided he had to go to their parliament. He went to their parliament. He got permission in 15 minutes ... but he makes a decision and he executes it quickly. Then everybody reacts. That's what you call a leader. President Obama, he's got to think about it. He's got to go over it again. He's got to talk to more people about it." - Rudy Giuliani

"Putin is trying to re-establish the Orthodox Church as the moral compass of the nation it had been for 1,000 years before Russia fell captive to the atheistic and pagan ideology of Marxism. 'The adoption of Christianity,' declared Putin, 'became a turning point in the fat of our fatherland, made it an inseparable part of the Christian civilization and helped turn it into one of the largest world powers.' Anyone ever heard anything like that from the Post, the Times or Barack Hussein Obama?" - Pat Buchanan

"Homosexual behavior is just as risky as drug abuse. I think the Russian government is right to be concerned with propaganda on teenagers who are at the age of struggling through sexual identity issue and we should help to channel these urges in productive behavior. Heterosexuality is God's design. Policies that encourage young people to think this are good ideas." - Bryan Fischer

Yes, it appears as if the far-right wants Vladimir Putin to be the party's next nominee.

1) Invading another country, without the U.N.'s permission, under false pretenses? Check.

2) Passing anti-gay laws? Check again.

3) Claiming to know the original interpretation of the Bible and to be following those guidelines through his leadership? Check once again.

4) Not liking Barack Obama a great deal? Check! Check! Check!

5) Not thinking before deciding? Check!

6) Giving a macho image, so over the top, he could be compensating for liking men to penetrate him? Dang straight!

It's pretty comical that the same people who have claimed that President Obama is a communist dictator whom hates his country and should have been shameful for going on an "apology tour" where he admitted to other nations that ours isn't perfect, are warming up to the president of a country with a history of actual communism, whom is believed by many to be a dictator, and whose beliefs seem to coincide more with theirs than Obama's.

When President Obama or any other moderate or progressive has criticized the U.S., I've heard many of these far-right individuals blurt out, "If you don't love this country as it is, then leave!" In light of their seeming love for Vladimir Putin and Russia, I almost want to respond with, "If you love Russia and Putin so much, why don't you move there?"

Oh, how it amazes me that some people whom claim to love Jesus so much are so enamored with warmongering macho men. What Would Jesus Do? Bomb countries, wrestle bears (with his shirt off), and oppress gays apparently, all while sacrificing himself for the sins of mankind...

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun

The difference between "looking" and "checking out"

I may be way off with these numbers, but it's my approximation that at least 75% of individuals whom are involved in a serious relationship feel it's perfectly acceptable to "check out" members of the opposite sex they're not involved with. Meanwhile, approximately 25% either don't feel this is acceptable or aren't sure about the matter. I hadn't thought about this matter for a while, but since I've been dating a woman for about 8 months, the topic has been pondered about some. When reading or hearing others discuss this very issue, I often times hear comments similar to the following: "It's human nature to look." "There's nothing wrong with checking others out. I'm sure he/she does it too!" "It's fine to do it. Just don't tell your boyfriend/girlfriend about it or do it in front of them!" "It's natural to find people attractive." When observing the array of comments, I i

The verdict is in. To no one's surprise, Jonathan Hoenig has been found guilty of being an idiot.

Just recently, when discussing the Michael Brown shooting and whether or not race had anything to do with it, Fox News contributor Jonathan Hoenig said, "You know who talks about race? Racists." One moment while I provide Mr. Hoenig with the well deserved slow-clap. :: slow-claps for two seconds :: So, that was quite the line by Mr. Hoenig, wasn't it? "You know who talks about race? Racists." Well, wasn't he just talking about race? So, by his own words, I guess that makes him a racist. Also, if he wants to be consistent, does this mean that people whom talk about gender are sexists and people whom talk about sexual orientation are homophobes? With that line of thinking, Hoenig would engage in the following back-and-forths: Hoenig: "So, who are you voting for?" A woman: "The Democratic candidate, because he's been adamant about his support for equal rights for women." Hoenig: "You sexist feminist nazi!"
