Douche of the Day: Pennsylvania State Senator Scott Wagner

I hate to be so blunt, but we really need to stop electing idiots. ...and they can't give me that whole "I-wasn't-elected-to-be-a-scientist" routine. No, they weren't, but call me crazy, I think our leaders should be smarter than fifth graders. Yes, my standards may be a bit high, but a guy can dream, can't he? Pennsylvania State Senator Scott Wagner proved that could very well be the case with his recent comments on WITF radio in Harrisburg, where he made the following statement with regard to climate change: "I haven't been in a science class in a long time, but the earth moves closer to the sun every year - you know the rotation of the earth ... We're moving closer to the sun. We have more people. You know, humans have warm bodies. So is heat coming off?" After receiving the inevitable backlash for the stupidity of his comments, Wagner's campaign manager, Jason High, responded with, "He's not running to be the top scientis...

Vladimir Putin knows presidential quotes like my dog knows curling

During a recent CNBC panel discussion, Russian President and Donald Trump fantasy lover Vladimir Putin was asked whether or not he had attempted to influence the U.S presidential election, to which he responded: "Ronald Reagan, debating about taxes and addressing the Americans, said, 'Watch my lips. No. Watch my lips. No.'" Putin was wrong on multiple fronts. The quote to which he was referring was uttered by George H.W. Bush, not Ronald Reagan, and Bush actually said, "Read my lips, no new taxes." That isn't even mentioning the fact Bush wound up raising taxes, which made his before-mentioned claim false, so it wasn't the best example Putin could have given to signify he was telling the truth. Given this historical slip-up by the Russian president, expect Putin to utter the following misquotes in the future: - "It's like George W. Bush once said, 'No county do for you. You do for your county.'" - "Mister Rogers onc...

Paul Ryan's balls join eHarmony

In a fairly unsurprising move, due to the House Speaker's recent decisions or lack there of, CNN has reported that Paul Ryan's balls have created an eHarmony account, as they seek a new owner. In case anyone is interested, as is written in BallessTestes' eHarmony profile, Paul Ryan's soon-to-be ex-balls are looking for the following: "All we're seeking from a new partner is not to be neglected. Our current owner doesn't even seem to notice we're there anymore. He doesn't even say hello like he used to while watching Ayn Rand interviews. We'll even go so far as to say, due to the lack of attention we received from our original owner, you can overcompensate and use us to the extreme. No, don't go reverse-Christian Grey on us, but make us work while we're living! We're sick of being the stay-at-home parent without any children to take care of! Do what our current owner never does and actually use us to stand up for what you believe in...

Sean Spicer takes kids' questions on Career Day

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer took time out of his busy schedule to answer 10- and 11-year-olds' questions at the annual Snarkington Elementary Career Day today. Here's the full transcript of the event: Sean Spicer: "Good morning, class." 5th grade class: "Good morning, Mr. Sphincter." Spicer: "It sounds like you need to practice that. You weren't all in unison there. That's okay. Well, as your principal has told you, I'm Sean Spicer, the White House Press Secretary. My job is basically to report updates to the news media and then take their questions. So, how about I take some of your questions? This feels like my real job, but like an off day, you know? No, I guess you don't. Well, anyway, do any of you have any questions? Yes, the Asian kid up front..." John Roberts: "I have two questions. First question: What's the toughest question you've had to answer from the media? I'll await your answer be...

"Fewer Schools, More Smarter People"

President Donald Trump and other Republican leaders have faced a great deal of backlash in recent days over their new education reform proposal, entitled, "Fewer Schools, More Smarter People." This controversial bill is the GOP's first attempt at repealing former President Obama's "Education Is Good" law, which provided public education to at least 20 million more children. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), however, is reporting that the GOP's bill, if fully implemented, would likely result in 24 million kids going without public education - special needs children being the most seriously impacted. "Fewer Schools, More Smarter People" is now polling at just 17% approval, eight points lower than Fifty Shades of Grey (courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes - 25%), which one critic described as: "There is a very good chance that I will see nothing worse all year. I'm pretty sure I will see nothing more brain-witheringly stupid and b...

The Good Die Now Act

President Donald Trump released a video today where he attempted to persuade supporters to convince Congress they should pass his new healthcare reform law, The Good Die Now Act. Here is the full transcript: "My fellow Muricans. Now is the time to rise up and call your Congressmen to tell them, in order to consistently rise up yourselves, they need to pass my bigly good healthcare law, the Good Die Now Act. It's a million bajillion times better than Obamacare. Just the name is a quadzillion times better. I mean, look at it. Good is always great.  Die kind of rhymes with fight . Now backwards is won . You see? Everything about it is just fantastic, believe me. ...and even though Obamacare isn't actually called Obamacare, the Affordable Care Act still has Obama in the title, which makes it like really really bad, okay? So if you want to get rid of invisible Obama from the title of the Affordable Care Act once and for all, call your Congressmen and tell them to vote fo...

GOP surprised giving the keys to a 6-year-old resulted in an accident

Republican leaders held a press conference today, where they told members of the media and the American people how surprised they were that, after giving a 6-year-old keys to a Mercedes, he got into an accident. Approximately 30 minutes ago, it was reported that 6-year-old Tommy Airbag got into an accident not 10 seconds after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan gave him the keys to a brand new Mercedes. After Ryan started the car for Tommy, Steve Bannon told the youngster what to do, and Mr. Airbag then proceeded to crash, almost in slow-motion, into a garbage truck, as junk then spilled from the backend of the vehicle. While Tommy wasn't seriously injured, Bannon, McConnell, and Ryan fled from the scene, only to confront the matter after one of the garbagemen recorded them running. McConnell: "This all came as a shock to us. I mean, what was it he Tommy kept saying?" Ryan: "He kept saying, 'I got this. I can drive, believe me....

Doing what I never thought I'd do - defend Tomi Lahren

As ardent readers of mine should know by now, I'm no fan of conservative talking head Tomi Lahren, which can be seen in this previous blog post of mine -  http://thekind-heartedsmartaleck.blogspot.com/2015/07/final-thoughts-on-tomi-lahrens-rant.html . However, having said that, I think it's utterly ridiculous and anti-American of  The Blaze to suspend her show for speaking in favor of abortion rights. On her Friday appearance on The View , Lahren said she supported abortion rights, adding, "As someone who supports limited government, it would be hypocritical of me to believe the government should decide what women should do with their bodies." This did not go over well in conservative circles, especially with fellow members of The Blaze , as Glenn Beck responded to the matter by saying, "The preamble of the Constitution speaks of securing the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. Well, who are our posterity, if not our unborn children and grand...

Personal Twitter records!

I'm happy to report that a recent Tweet of mine broke personal records for likes and retweets at 7,545 and 2,617, respectively! Thanks to all my fans, listeners, and followers for helping me reach these marks! The tweet which accomplished this was: Trumpsters: "We hate liberal snowflakes! By the way, let's #BoycottHawaii, Starbucks, 'Hamilton,' Pepsi, Oreos, Netflix, & reality, bigly!" Thanks again! The madness is about to start!

It's almost here! Beginning tomorrow, March Madness will be on full display, and I can't wait! Since there isn't one or two teams that stand out to me this year, I'm thinking this tournament will be especially crazy (in a good way). Bring on the chaos! How wide open are things this year? I see these 9 teams all having a decent shot and running the table and winning the title: 2 Arizona 2 Duke 1 Gonzaga 1 Kansas 2 Kentucky 2 Louisville 1 North Carolina 3 UCLA 1 Villanova Here are four teams which have the skill and talent to make a run for it as well: 3 Florida State 5 Notre Dame 3 Oregon 4 West Virginia Lastly, here are a couple of potential sleepers: 7 Michigan 6 SMU As far as 1st round upsets go, here are ten games to keep your eyes on: 9 Michigan State over 8 Miami (Florida) 9 Seton Hall over 8 Arkansas 9 Vanderbilt over 8 Northwestern 10 Marquette over 7 South Carolina 10 Virginia Commonwealth over 7 St. Mary's 10 Wichita State ove...

Check out the new show "Trial & Error"

I don't normally talk up television shows, but like with Angie Tribeca and Black-ish before that, I think the new NBC sitcom Trial & Error is well worthy of a mention as well. The first two episodes of the show debuted last night; it will start airing on Tuesdays at 9 pm EST; and I highly recommend anyone who's a fan of mockumentaries, dark comedy, satire, and/or John Lithgow to check it out! Fricking hilarious! More can be read about it here: https://reason.com/archives/2017/03/10/nbc-scores-again-with-the-hilarious-mani

Trumpcare = Trump doesn't care

If there's one thing people should take from the new healthcare proposal, now referred to as Trumpcare, it's that Donald Trump and the other leaders of the Republican Party don't care. While the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, is anything but a perfect law, it did help pave the way toward the lowest uninsured rate in this country's recorded history. Over 22 million who were uninsured prior to the ACA's implementation now have health insurance because of it. What is the CBO (Congressional Budget Office) projecting with regard to the American Health Care Act (Trumpcare)? Over 24 million losing healthcare. What's worse, even after Donald Trump claimed the CBO was biased prior to their reported analysis, the White House followed the CBO's projection by themselves predicting 26 million more would be uninsured following the implementation of the AHCA. Let's look at those numbers a bit more closely. Obamacare: +22 million insured Trumpcare: -24 million i...

A look back at the career of Michael Vick

While he's appeared to show some hesitation in the past few days regarding his decision, Michael Vick has officially retired from the NFL. While the quarterback's affiliation with dogfighting will forever mar his image to a good number of people, I thought I'd try to temporarily remove that from the equation and look back at Michael Vick the player. Being born in 1981 and watching football since the late-80s, I'd have to say, to this point, the three most exciting players I've had the pleasure of watching are, in descending order, Bo Jackson, Barry Sanders, and Michael Vick. In 1999, Michael Vick burst onto the scene as a redshirt freshman quarterback for the Virginia Tech Hokies, leading them to an unblemished regular season, and their first (and only to this point) national title game appearance. While Vick's team might have fallen short in their 46-29 defeat at the hands of a far superior Florida State team, Vick led his Hokies back from a 28-7 deficit to...

No matter how hard they try, the GOP can't overturn the truth

I don't lose my cool very often, but I have to say, I'm getting a little fed up with the Republican Party's attempt to turn reality over on its head. I'm sorry, but it can't be done. No matter how hard one tries to prove otherwise, 2 + 2 = 4, gravity exists, the Holocaust happened, and the sky is blue (well, unless you're in central Ohio in the spring). The amazing thing about politics today is that our two-party system no longer features a liberal and a conservative party. It features a somewhat and a batsh*t crazy party. The Democrat Party isn't even liberal in some areas, yet they're viewed as such due to how starkly different they are from the Republican Party. They tend to embrace science. That's not "liberal" nor "conservative;" that's simply logical. They tend to embrace studies, fact-checkers, and critical thinking. Once again, that isn't a "liberal" nor a "conservative" philosophy; that's...

A weekend conversation with a Trumpster

Whenever I go out to play cards, there's roughly a 50/50 chance I'll hear a Trumpster go on a rant. That was indeed the case this past Saturday night. Instead of getting into a heated exchange as tends to be the result, I decided to listen, just in case I had been missing something when it comes to understanding the average Trumpster. After listening to the man rant for several minutes, I decided, at least to that point, I sadly had a "bigly" excellent understanding of the average Trumpster. The pain arguments this Trumpster made were arguments I had heard ad nauseum throughout election season. There were as follows: 1) Barack Obama didn't do one good thing as president 2) He is the king of liars 3) Donald Trump isn't a regular politician who has been corrupted by the system, which makes him more trustworthy than the average politician 4) Contrary to popular belief, Trump isn't a bigot; he's just smart 5) Last, but certainly not least, Trum...

Trump comes across as the Stoner-In-Chief

It seems that every time I listen to Donald Trump speak, I'm left flabbergasted as to how this man could have become our president. A recent speech he gave in front of the United States Navy aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford in Newport News, Virginia, was no exception. When reading this speech, like most Donald Trump speeches, I envisioned him being drunk, because that's how he comes across. The speech was written at a grade 7 reading level (which means it can be understood by most 12-13-year-olds). While the average number of words per sentence is preferred to be in the 15 to 20 range, Trump's average was 11.53. Similarly, his average number of syllables per word was lower than the average overall, as he averaged 1.44 compared to 1.66, which is considered "normal." Here are some of the standout moments from Trump's speech: "Thank you.  Thank you very much.  What an honor.  They just gave me this beautiful jacket.  They said, here, Mr. President, please...

Trump's Joint Address Speech Numero Uno

Tuesday featured Donald Trump's first joint address to Congress, and like the masochist I apparently am, I watched it from start to finish. Upon its completion, my first three thoughts were: 1) "I see specificity isn't his native language," 2) "How?," and 3) "Well, that was a load of chronic diarrhea," 1) When's the last time Donald Trump has said anything specific? With all three marriage proposals, I imagine him saying something along the lines of, "So, like, do you want to?" From beginning to end, Trump uttered lines like the following: "We're gonna do stuff," "You know what I was talking about earlier? We're gonna like do that even biglier than I said before," and "I know a guy who took a class at this one college and he told me something really really cool." If Donald Trump had to go back to school himself, I'd recommend, for his foreign language class, he opts to go the way of specif...

Birthday #36

Is it just me, or does it seem like, after a certain point, birthdays become progressively more depressing? On our 16th birthday, we can celebrate getting a driver's license. On our 18th birthday, we can celebrate being able to vote (and smoke, I suppose). On our 21st birthday, we can celebrate being able to drink alcohol (well, legally). After that, there aren't too many birthdays where we can say, "We're now even more of a legal adult today!" When I hit 30, I thought to myself, "Where in the world did my 20s go?" Not much changed when I turned 31, 32, and 33, respectively. When I turned 34, however, I was officially in my mid-30s, and due to that, started feeling like I couldn't pass for being in college anymore (even though I do still occasionally get carded). My 35th birthday was significant, in that it was the midpoint between 30 and 40, the age which many label as being "over the hill." Now that I turned 36 just yesterday, I'm in ...
