Donald Sterling just needs to stop talking

Los Angeles Clippers owner (for now) Donald Sterling, after hearing his interview with Anderson Cooper, is bound to have his own reality show one day - probably titled, What Would You Say? (cue The Dave Matthews Band), Everybody Hates Donald, or The Big Douche Theory.

After having racist comments of his recorded and aired for the world to hear, Mr. Sterling decided to defend himself and attempt to partially dig himself out of a hole in an interview with Anderson Cooper. How did that go? Let's look at a few quotes, shall we?

Here is one of my favorites:

"I'm not a racist. I made a terrible, terrible mistake."

I think I'll play off that very quote from this point forward. For the following quotes, I think I'll just precede them with the words, "I'm not a racist, but..." Here we go...

- "I'm not a racist, but Jews, when they get successful, they will help their people. And some of the African-Americans, maybe I'll get in trouble again, they don't want to help anybody."

- "I'm not a racist, but he (Magic Johnson) acts so holy. He made love to every girl in every city in America and he had AIDS. And when he had those AIDS, I went to my synagogue and I prayed for him. I hoped he could live and be well. I didn't criticize him. I could have.."

- "I'm not a racist, but has he (Magic Johnson) done everything he can do to help minorities? I don't think so. I'll say it, I 'll say it, he's great, but I just don't think he is a good example for the children of Los Angeles."

- "I'm not a racist, but what has he done, can you tell me? Big Magic Johnson, what has he done? He's got AIDS. Did he help anyone in south LA?"

- "I'm not a racist, but what kind of a guy goes to every city, has sex with every girl, then catches HIV? Is that someone we want to respect and tell our kids about? I think he should be ashamed of himself. I think he should go into the background. But what does he do for the black people? He doesn't do anything."

While he's at it, he may want to add these lovely quotes to his resumè:

- "I'm not a racist, but I just don't like when black people... Oh, nevermind. I probably shouldn't go there. It would take too long to answer."

- "I'm not a racist, but basketball is really the only thing blacks are good at. That's not racist; that's a compliment!"

- "I'm not a racist, but when's the last time you didn't see a black person with a watermelon in one hand and a bucket of fried chicken in the other? I can't remember either."

- "I'm not a racist, but I think the darker you are, the more dangerous you are. So, therefore, since I'm very white, that doesn't make me racist or dangerous; it makes me tolerant and peaceful."

- "I'm not a racist, but I really don't care for black people very much. That doesn't make me racist. I'm just sayin... You know?"

I'm not a linguist, but I think it's about time Donald Sterling kept his ignorant comments to himself.

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

The difference between "looking" and "checking out"

I may be way off with these numbers, but it's my approximation that at least 75% of individuals whom are involved in a serious relationship feel it's perfectly acceptable to "check out" members of the opposite sex they're not involved with. Meanwhile, approximately 25% either don't feel this is acceptable or aren't sure about the matter. I hadn't thought about this matter for a while, but since I've been dating a woman for about 8 months, the topic has been pondered about some. When reading or hearing others discuss this very issue, I often times hear comments similar to the following: "It's human nature to look." "There's nothing wrong with checking others out. I'm sure he/she does it too!" "It's fine to do it. Just don't tell your boyfriend/girlfriend about it or do it in front of them!" "It's natural to find people attractive." When observing the array of comments, I i...
