Glenn Beck show mocks rape victims

Glenn Beck is about as reliable with the reporting of news as mimes are of reporting anything. Even his tamest of conspiracy theories are enough to provide Critical Thinking professors across the country with massive migraines. Even though it appears as if Beck is void of brain cells and has instead substituted them with crazy cells, and should have been placed in a loony bin a long time ago, he reached a new low recently - yes, even for him.

During a program of his on the Blaze, host Stu Burguiere attacked recent studies which alleged that approximately 1 in every 5 women have been raped. He claimed that President Obama and the government are manipulating the numbers to make the problem appear to be worse than it actually is. He then brought two men out to poke fun of the studies and victims of sexual assault. One was supposedly a male Abercrombie & Fitch model and the other was a man dressed as the stereotypical ditsy, blonde woman.

The male model then turns to the "woman" and says, "You should have sex with me. I'm going to be on the cover of the Abercrombie & Fitch catalog this month."

The "woman" then responds, "Okay," before host Burguiere jumps into the picture, and says, "Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Stop! That's rape! Pressuring someone to have sex with you by telling them lies is the same as rape."

This cycle continues a few more times before the horrendous segment finally comes to a close.

First off, it doesn't get much lower than mocking sexual assault victims. While I enjoy finding the humor in just about everything, there's absolutely nothing funny about rape, and the impact it forever leaves on people's lives. Without hardly even thinking about it, I can think of five people I know that have been raped, and eight that have been sexually assaulted in some manner or another. That brings me to the saddest realization of all - the claims made in this sketch are about as accurate as a deceased weatherperson's forecast.

The study Stu Burguiere and his Razzie-worthy actors were poking fun of was a 2010 National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey. Burguiere and company made it appear as if there is only one kind of sexual assault and that's rape. However, as the study (common sense, and you know, a functioning brain) shows, that's far from the case. The results are categorized into two main sections: "Rape" and "Other Sexual Violence." Under rape, there are three listed possibilities: "Completed forced penetration," "Attempted forced penetration," and "Completed alcohol/drug facilitated penetration." Under other sexual violence, four more possibilities are listed: "Made to penetrate," "Sexual coercion," "Unwanted sexual contact," and "Non-contact unwanted sexual experiences." Sexual coercion is defined as, "Pressured in a nonphysical way (includes, for example, threatening to end the relationship, using influence or authority)." Unwanted sexual contact is defined as, "Includes unwanted kissing in a sexual way, fondling, or grabbing sexual body parts." Lastly, non-contact unwanted sexual experiences is defined as, "Includes someone exposing their sexual body parts, flashing, or masturbating in front of the victim, someone making a victim show his or her body parts, someone making a victim look at or participate in sexual photos or movies, or someone harassing the victim in a public place in a way that made the victim feel unsafe."

In other words, Glenn Beck, Stu Burguiere, and their ilk are full of more crap than an outhouse at Woodstock. Not all forms of sexual assault constitute as rape, yet all forms of sexual assault are horrendously wrong and there may be nothing more putrid than poking fun of victims of such crimes. Even for as embarrassing as he often times is in the world of "news," Glenn Beck should be ashamed of himself.

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

Trump's Lie Tally at the CNN Debate

1) "We had the greatest economy in the history of our country. We had never done so well. Every – everybody was amazed by it. Other countries were copying us." 2) "But the thing we never got the credit for, and we should have, is getting us out of that COVID mess." 3) "The only jobs he created are for illegal immigrants and bounceback jobs; they’re bounced back from the COVID." 4) "Not going to drive them higher. It’s just going to cause countries that have been ripping us off for years, like China and many others, in all fairness to China – it’s going to just force them to pay us a lot of money, reduce our deficit tremendously, and give us a lot of power for other things." (tariffs) 5) "He also said he inherited 9 percent inflation." 6) "No, he inherited almost no inflation and it stayed that way for 14 months. And then it blew up under his leadership, because they spent money like a bunch of people that didn’t know what t...
