It's Official: The GOP Has Sold Its Soul To The Devil

One reason why I don't care for Donald Trump is his rhetoric. The man's native tongue seems to be hyperbole. When's the last time you heard a speech or even an individual quote where the president didn't include one of the following words: Biggest, huge (yuuuge), best, greatest, etc.? I can't remember one. Having said that, I'm not going to mince words here. Even though there remains a minority of reasonable, respectable Republicans, in large part the GOP has sold its soul to the devil.

The once highly respectable Republican Party is officially on life support and trending towards death at a rapid pace. While the Democratic Party is anything but perfect, it at least tries to fight for more than just their own wallets. That's no longer the case with the Republican Party. They continually get voted in by the people and wind up representing just themselves. Not only that, but they've taken a stand against: Science, equality across the board (whether it be women; blacks; Muslims, Hispanics; the LGBT community; etc.), facts/truth, preventing gun violence, democracy/voting, education, the lower- and middle-classes, etc.

This moral downward trend came to a head this week when the Republican-led House Intelligence Committee ended its probe on Donald Trump and Russia, as Special Counsel Robert Mueller is showing no signs of closing shop anytime soon. The committee didn't interview: George Papadopolous, Paul Manafort, Rick Gates, Michael Flynn, who have all been indicted, among others. They headed "the memo," which had more holes in it than Swiss cheese at a shooting range. Even Florida Republican Representative Tom Rooney said the House Intel Committee had lost all credibility with the early close of the Russia probe.

The Republican House has essentially closed a murder case where all signs point to a person being guilty of the alleged crime and where numerous witnesses have yet to be interrogated by the prosecution and defense attorneys, simply to try and prevent the defendant from getting punished for his guilt. The Republican Party has set aside our national security to protect a single member of their party, a man whom enjoys the lowest approval rating of any president at this point in his tenure. The Republican Party has basically flipped the bird to the American people, saying, "Hey, having a Republican potential traitor lead this country is of greater importance than the truth, your safety and well-being, and the principles on which this nation was founded." The GOP no longer cares about you, me, our children, our health and safety, our well-being, etc. All they care about are their own wallets. The party which likes to classify itself as the party of God/Christ has officially sold its soul to the devil and the only way to shake some life into them is to vote them out in November. Hopefully last night's Pennsylvania special election result was just the start...

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

Face guarding is legal in college football and the NFL

I just wanted to remind fans and announcers especially, that face guarding is legal in both college football and the NFL. It all comes down to contact. So long as a defender doesn't make contact with an intended receiver, he doesn't have to turn around to play the ball. I can't tell you how many times every week I hear announcers talk about face guarding being a penalty. It's not. I even heard one announcer yesterday state, "If the defender doesn't turn around and play the ball, the ref will call pass interference every time." That's simply not true. Courtesy of referee Bill LeMonnier, he says this with regard to the rule at the college level (answered on 8/12/13): "NCAA rules on pass interference require the face guarding to have contact to be a foul. No contact, no foul by NCAA rules." In the NFL rule book, this is written:  "Actions that constitute defensive pass interference include but are not limited to: (a) Contact by a ...
