The Christian Right is a Fraud

Fraud: "intentional perversion of truth in order to induce another to part with something of value or to surrender a legal right; a person who is not what he or she pretends to be."

The Christian right has long claimed they value: The teachings of Jesus, morality, family, etc. They've long contended that they vote the way God would vote. This is why they've tended to vote against politicians whom support women's reproductive rights and/or those that support marriage equality for the LGBT community. According to them, both abortion and homosexuality are abominations to God and of far greater importance than anything else mentioned in the book of Leviticus or the Ten Commandments. Well, dear readers, I'm here to tell you it's all a lie. The Christian right is a fraud, and whether it was intentional or not, Donald Trump ultimately proved this.

Donald Trump's approval among the general public is at approximately 40%. His approval with evangelicals is at around 70%. That's right; close to 3 in every 4 self-described evangelicals approve of Donald Trump's presidency. Let's look back at Donald Trump's year in office and his life prior to becoming president.

1) He's married three women.

2) He's cheated on all three of these women.

3) He cheated on his third wife just after she gave birth to their son...with a porn star.

4) According to fact-checkers, he lies close to 3/4's of the time he opens his mouth and only tells the full truth 15% of the time.

5) In an Access Hollywood video, he openly bragged about sexually assaulting women.

6) On that note, at least 19 women have come forward alleging Trump of sexual improprieties.

7) He's insulted the following groups of people (you know, God's children): Women, blacks, Hispanics, Muslims, the disabled, the media, LGBTs, overweight individuals, ladies who aren't "10s," the poor, the middle class, fact-checkers, the list goes on and on like the Energizer bunny.

8) He's implemented policies or at least attempted to implement policies which benefits the rich at the expense of the lower- and middle-classes.

9) The man has gone back and forth on the issues of abortion and LGBT rights more times than even a math major with the last name of Nerd would care to count.

10) Donald Trump is not an active member of the Christian community.

Here's how Donald Trump checks out when it comes to the Ten Commandments:

1. "Thou shall have no other gods before me."

Trump worships himself and money above all else. (So that makes him 0 for 1)

2. "No false idols."

Ditto to my answer to the first Commandment. (0 for 2)

3. "Don't misuse the Lord's name."

The odds of Trump never saying the lord's name in vain are worse than the odds of Elvis Presley winning the Mega Millions jackpot this week. (0 for 3)

4. "Keep the Sabbath day holy."

There's roughly a 60% chance Donald Trump doesn't know what the day of the Sabbath is. He'd probably respond, "What is Black Sabbath?" (0 for 4)

5. "Honor your parents."

By assaulting women, kicking the poor when they're down, breaking laws, etc.? What a lucky mother and father! (0 for 5)

6. "Don't murder."

Okay, to this point, Donald Trump has not been charged or convicted with murder. (1 for 6)

7. "Don't commit adultery."

Trump's committed adultery so many times, his face is next to the term in the dictionary. (1 for 7)

8. "Don't steal."

One word: Taxes. (1 for 8)

9. "Don't lie."

If the commandment were, "Don't lie all the time," I could give the president a pass here. Unfortunately, those aren't the words and he still lies about 70% of the time. (1 for 9)

10. "Don't covet another's house, wife, or property."

That lady he wanted to bang from the Access Hollywood video, who he took to the furniture store? What was her status again? Ah, yes, she was married. (1 for 10)

The Christian right has long claimed they value: The teachings of Jesus, morality, family, etc. They've long contended that they vote the way God would vote. Instead of following through with these claims, however, they've gone on to become what they claimed to despise. They now support a man who has, at most, abided by one of the ten Commandments in the Bible; a man who has given more to porn stars by way of his penis than he has to charitable causes by way of his wallet; a man who is as close to a direct antithesis of Jesus as is humanly possible. Through Donald Trump, the Christian right has admitted they support: Dishonesty, infidelity, profanity, hatred, anger, violence, prejudice, cheating, stealing, and greed. For as unintentional as it may have been, Donald Trump has provided a direct reflection, not of Christianity, but of the fraud that the Christian right has become. The Christian right doesn't represent God, Jesus, family, or morality. They just represent those words used to mask their anger, hatred, and prejudice against those different from them. The Christian right, guilty of fraud.

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

The difference between "looking" and "checking out"

I may be way off with these numbers, but it's my approximation that at least 75% of individuals whom are involved in a serious relationship feel it's perfectly acceptable to "check out" members of the opposite sex they're not involved with. Meanwhile, approximately 25% either don't feel this is acceptable or aren't sure about the matter. I hadn't thought about this matter for a while, but since I've been dating a woman for about 8 months, the topic has been pondered about some. When reading or hearing others discuss this very issue, I often times hear comments similar to the following: "It's human nature to look." "There's nothing wrong with checking others out. I'm sure he/she does it too!" "It's fine to do it. Just don't tell your boyfriend/girlfriend about it or do it in front of them!" "It's natural to find people attractive." When observing the array of comments, I i...
