Welcome to I Feel Snitty, episode 89, entitled, “Denial Is Just a River in Trumplandia.” I’m your host, Craig Rozniecki.

I recently engaged in a post-election discussion, where I essentially said, “If Donald Trump had won re-election, we would no longer be a republic when he left office.”

The response I received was, “That’s a bit extreme.”

I find this reaction to be all too common among those who either see Donald Trump as the Second Coming or just see him as another president. When I hear such calm, almost indifferent rhetoric, I just want to shake the person and say, “Hello! Did you forget your 18th cup of Folgers again? Wake the fuck up, McFly!”

The first mistake I hear people make when claiming Donald Trump would never overturn the republic is that he cares about the country. Even now, I hear analysts on both the left and right say, “Well, if Donald Trump cares about the country…” Newsflash: he doesn’t. Never has and never will.

The reason Donald Trump ran for the presidency to begin with wasn’t because he felt he could improve the nation at large. No, it was because he wanted to improve his brand. Throughout his tenure, he’s never been about trying to help citizens around the country. He’s just wanted to have power, remain in power, and abuse said power, in order to help himself both criminally and financially. The longer he could stay in office, the better, so he attempted to rile his base by saying he’d arrest Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama for nothing more than walking and chewing gum at the same time; building a wall along our Southern border; banning Muslims; taking a cops-over-blacks stand; etc. This helped him distract from his own crimes and anger the base enough to help him grift and potentially get re-elected, which would just elongate the cycle.

So, Trump did what he always did. He hired some goons to help him win the 2016 presidential election. When they got caught, those around him took the fall and he obstructed to not allow himself to get into too much trouble. As more investigations were conducted and an increasing number of lawsuits were filed against him, Trump realized the seriousness of him being re-elected in 2020. This prompted him to attempt to bribe Ukraine for dirt on his likely Democratic opponent – Joe Biden. For this, he was impeached, but not removed from office.

So, let’s back up a second here. It was concluded that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to benefit Donald Trump and it was also concluded that Donald Trump attempted to bribe a US ally to interfere in the 2020 election. How are these events not evidence enough that Donald Trump has attempted to take down our republic and had some success doing so?

In the run up to the 2020 election, Trump was even more obstructionist to the democratic process than he was 4 years prior. The guy continually labeled mail-in voting as fraudulent. Keep in mind he made such sentiments during a global pandemic. Then he sabotaged the US postal service and basically said, “See? I told you so.” That’d be like calling a particular car a piece of junk; pushing it over a cliff; and then saying, “What did I tell you? Piece of crap.” Trump and his cronies then attempted to place tighter restrictions on voter identification; prevent the counting of mail-in votes before election day; and even stop the counting of any and all votes as of midnight on November 4th. Trump’s now filing lawsuits in states all across the country to try and strip votes away from Joe Biden – even going so far as to ask the Supreme Court to get involved and overturn the election results. Since it was announced that Joe Biden was the winner of the 2020 presidential election and will thereby be the 46th President of the United States, Donald Trump has seemingly denied the outcome; claimed he won among just the legal votes; and has done anything but concede.

Throughout all 4 years of his presidency, Donald Trump has referred to the media as “the enemy of the people;” called the CIA and FBI “corrupt;” told people to not believe what they see and hear; to only believe right-wing propaganda and lies; and lied over 20,000 times himself.

Take a step back and attempt to see the whole picture here. The 2016 election was interfered with by a foreign adversary with ties to Donald Trump. Trump attempted to interfere in the 2020 election by bribing a foreign ally. He has attempted to silence the media and any voice which runs contrary to his own. He’s even trying to reverse the will of the people and find a way to steal the 2020 presidential election through the courts.

The fact of the matter is it’s not too extreme to suggest another 4 years of Donald Trump would destroy our republic, for he doesn’t care about this nation, about her ideals, her history, or her future. All he cares about is himself, and if this nation’s founding principles crumble because of his unlawful and immoral behavior, as he would say, “It is what it is.”

That’s it for today’s episode. I’ll see you again next week. Until then, you can check me out on Podbean, Twitter, Amazon, and Blogger. This has been I Feel Snitty, with Craig Rozniecki. Take care.

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun

The difference between "looking" and "checking out"

I may be way off with these numbers, but it's my approximation that at least 75% of individuals whom are involved in a serious relationship feel it's perfectly acceptable to "check out" members of the opposite sex they're not involved with. Meanwhile, approximately 25% either don't feel this is acceptable or aren't sure about the matter. I hadn't thought about this matter for a while, but since I've been dating a woman for about 8 months, the topic has been pondered about some. When reading or hearing others discuss this very issue, I often times hear comments similar to the following: "It's human nature to look." "There's nothing wrong with checking others out. I'm sure he/she does it too!" "It's fine to do it. Just don't tell your boyfriend/girlfriend about it or do it in front of them!" "It's natural to find people attractive." When observing the array of comments, I i

The verdict is in. To no one's surprise, Jonathan Hoenig has been found guilty of being an idiot.

Just recently, when discussing the Michael Brown shooting and whether or not race had anything to do with it, Fox News contributor Jonathan Hoenig said, "You know who talks about race? Racists." One moment while I provide Mr. Hoenig with the well deserved slow-clap. :: slow-claps for two seconds :: So, that was quite the line by Mr. Hoenig, wasn't it? "You know who talks about race? Racists." Well, wasn't he just talking about race? So, by his own words, I guess that makes him a racist. Also, if he wants to be consistent, does this mean that people whom talk about gender are sexists and people whom talk about sexual orientation are homophobes? With that line of thinking, Hoenig would engage in the following back-and-forths: Hoenig: "So, who are you voting for?" A woman: "The Democratic candidate, because he's been adamant about his support for equal rights for women." Hoenig: "You sexist feminist nazi!"
