Conservatives speaking for liberals speaking for conservatives...

I just read another article by Kyle Becker of the uber right-wing Independent Journal Review, entitled, "10 Offensive Things Conservatives are Accused of Thinking - Yet They Actually Never, Ever Do." Yes, that's the wondrous title. This should be interesting...

Becker starts off his "piece" with this:

"Liberals are full of opinions. Not only do they like to give everyone their unsolicited opinions of whatever random thing they happen to be thinking at the time, they love to speak for other people.

Even when it's ridiculous. Even when no one in their right mind in the 21st century ever, ever thinks such horrible things. These Amazing Kreskins love to tune in to their ESPN and have at it.

Here are 10 things lefties accuse conservatives of thinking that no one ever, ever does."

So, Mr. Becker, who accuses liberals of speaking for conservatives, is now going to speak for liberals who speak for conservatives? Isn't that special? He may also want to refrain from using absolutes, because almost every time, that results in a person being wrong. He's off to a great start on that front with his reference to liberals reading minds by way of the sports network ESPN. I think you can drop the "N" on that one, Mr. Becker. If he refuses, perhaps he should just add the SportsCenter theme song to this page to make him sound even more brilliant. Well, enough with the pre-game talk. Let's begin, shall we?

1. "'Black people are inferior to white people.'

No one except the five remaining Klan members and a few dozen neo-nazis still think this and they are on the margins of the fringe of the extreme edge of political discourse."

While I know some conservatives, whom aren't Klan members or neo-nazis, whom feel this way, most liberals I know don't feel conservatives think this way. It's not that we think you feel they're inferior. It's that we think you want to make them inferior by stripping away their voting rights, so 90% of them voting for the Democrat won't cost you on election day.

As Dallas Tea Party leader Ken Emanuelson said, "I'm going to be real honest with you. The Republican Party doesn't want black people to vote if they are going to vote 9-to-1 for Democrats." Anyway, Mr. Funny Delusional Man, on with the top ten list...

2. "'Women should just stay at home, wash dishes and raise babies.'

Conservatives support women in their careers and their educational pursuits. Duh."

That quote should be altered somewhat to say, "Women should just work out of the home for less than men for the same job, be seen as easy for using birth control, and not have any choice over their bodies even if she's raped." Duh.

3. "'We oppose illegal immigration because we don't like them shifty foreigners.'

Nobody, and I mean nobody, is against immigrants. No matter where they're from. Conservatives just want immigration laws respected. Wow, what crazy bigots."

Mmhmm... Which is why a Republican lawmaker recently said the following about why immigration reform probably won't pass this year:

"Part of it, I think - and I hate to say this, because these are my people - but I hate to say it, but it's racial. If you go to town halls people say things like, 'These people have different cultural customs than we do.' And that's code for race."

In light of that, allow me to take Mr. Becker out of context for a moment. Mr. Becker, is there something you would like to say?

"Wow, what crazy bigots."

I couldn't have said it better myself...

4. "'We conservatives sure do hate them gays.'

Christian conservatives, who are not all conservatives, think homosexuality is sinful. That doesn't mean Christians hate gay people. And it doesn't mean conservatives hate gays."

No, it doesn't mean that at all...

Conservatives (speaking to gays): "We don't hate you! We just don't believe you should be afforded equal rights under the law, whether it comes to marriage or discrimination."

Christian conservatives (speaking to gays): "We don't hate you! We just think you're going to burn in hell after you die."

If that's not love, I don't know what is...

5. "'Everything that's different is bad.'

Conservatives are always being accused of being 'closed-minded,' but they actually reject mainstream opinion forced on them from pre-K through college and in the culture."

They reject the changing of the times in culture, because it's different, and reject education (you know, facts) forced upon them through school, because they're "open-minded" and think change is sometimes good? ::scratches head::. Wait a minute! Is this an Onion article, Mr. Becker? No? Crap. I was trying to make some sense of it. Okay, next...

6. "'ObamaCare is horrible because a black man is running it. If only a white guy would run it, it would be fantastic.'

Before ObamaCare, there was Hillarycare. And conservatives hated that. And before Hillarycare, there were numerous other attempts to go for state-run healthcare. Conservatives hate big government, and they don't care about the race, ethnicity or gender of the people who run it."

Well, I've never heard this one before. I have heard a variation of it, which would be, "Obamacare is horrible because a Democrat is running it. If only a Republican would run it, it would be fantastic."

The reason for that is the Republican Party supported a government mandate similar to the one presented in "Obamacare" as an alternative to "Hillarycare" in the '90s under then President Bill Clinton. Mr. Becker is right - Republicans hated Hillarycare, but ironically enough, they countered that idea with Obamacare. Oh, and no mention of Romneycare, which provided a blueprint for Obamacare? Huh, I'll be darned...

7. "'I wish we could invade every country on earth and subjugate it. That would be awesome, dude. Pass me a beer.'

Not only are there isolationists on the right who dislike interventionist foreign policy, there are many conservatives who are really, really opposed to nation-building."

Okay, now I think he's just making crap up. Every country on earth? Canada? Mexico? Sweden? Uzbekistanstan or however Herman Cain referred to it? For some reason, I haven't heard this line uttered by liberals either. But, while we're on the subject... Afghanistan, Iraq, with urges to bomb Syria, Iran, North Korea, and others... As the kids nowadays say, "just sayin'..."

8. "'We think the Bush administration was just awesome and want a dozen more like it.'

Most conservatives are fond of George W. Bush as a man and as a leader, but not all conservatives agree on the Bush administration's expansion of government, $4 trillion increase of the national debt, the need for the Iraq War, or the passage of the Patriot Act."

Yet, even though 9/11 occurred on Bush's watch and Osama bin Laden was killed on Obama's, Bush is a better leader than Obama, right? Or just because the economy started tanking under Bush and started rebounding under Obama, Bush is still the better leader, correct? That's what I thought...

9. "'I think guns are just fantastic and I really don't mind if kids are killed by firearms.'

Out of 90 million gun owners in the United States, 36 children under the age of 10 were accidentally killed by firearms in 2010 (and many adults with criminal records). Conservatives don't want guns because they want to shoot anyone, but because they think they're necessary."

Uh-huh... Just ask those 36 children that... and Jesus...

10. "'I loved Democrats and all their policies before President Obama came along!'

Conservatives didn't like the Democrats or their policies long before Obama showed up. Arguing that 'racism has anything to do with not liking Obama's policies is about the dumbest narrative cooked up by the left in America. But just like every big lie, if you repeat it often enough, you can get it to stick. Well, at least for a little while."

While the GOP may not have loved Democrats' policies before President Obama rolled around, they had been much more willing to compromise.

Also, speaking of repeating lies, perhaps I should remind Mr. Becker of a few he and his party have attempted to spout over the years:

- "Illinois senator Barack Obama is a 'radical Muslim' who 'will not recite the Pledge of Allegiance'."

- "Barack Obama was sworn into office on the Quran."

- "E-mail from missionary describes Barack Obama's connection to political events in Kenya."

- "The Book of Revelation describes the anti-Christ as someone with characteristics matching those of Barack Obama."

- "Barack Obama's birth certificate is a forgery."

- "Barack Obama admitted to being a Muslim during an ABC News interview."

- "President Obama issued an order 'allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to resettle in the United States."

- "Prophecy of a black man will inhabit the White House 'when pigs fly' ties Obama presidency to swine flu."

- "Recently released records document that Barack Obama received college financial aid in the U.S. as a 'foreign student from Indonesia'."

- "Barack Obama's status as a Muslim prevented his wife from traveling with him to Islamic countries."

- "Barack Obama must have used a non-U.S. passport to travel to Pakistan in 1981."

- "A Certified Registration of Birth issued in Kenya documents that Barack Obama was born in that country."

- "Photograph shows Barack Obama as a Black Panther."

- "A June 2004 Associated Press article identified Barack Obama as 'Kenyan-born'."

- "Photograph shows President Obama removing his shoes during 'Islamic Prayer Day' at the White House."

- "Photograph shows a "Welcome' sign in Kenya identifying that country as the birthplace of Barack Obama."

- "President Obama changed the decor in the Oval Office from a red, white, and blue color scheme to a 'Middle Eastern' one."

- "Video clip shows Barack Obama acknowledging that he is not a natural-born U.S. citizen."

- "President Obama stopped wearing his wedding ring and wristwatch in observance of Ramadan."

- "Image shows a 1981 Columbia student ID card identifying Barack Obama as a foreign student named Barry Soetoro."

- "Lawyers representing Barack Obama admitted that his birth certificate is a forgery."

- "Barack Obama's wedding ring bears an Arabic inscription reading 'There is no god but Allah'."

Every single one of those claims are false, and none of them are racist in any way, shape, or form, are they, Mr. Becker? As the saying goes, Mr. Becker, "denial" isn't just a river in Egypt...

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun

The difference between "looking" and "checking out"

I may be way off with these numbers, but it's my approximation that at least 75% of individuals whom are involved in a serious relationship feel it's perfectly acceptable to "check out" members of the opposite sex they're not involved with. Meanwhile, approximately 25% either don't feel this is acceptable or aren't sure about the matter. I hadn't thought about this matter for a while, but since I've been dating a woman for about 8 months, the topic has been pondered about some. When reading or hearing others discuss this very issue, I often times hear comments similar to the following: "It's human nature to look." "There's nothing wrong with checking others out. I'm sure he/she does it too!" "It's fine to do it. Just don't tell your boyfriend/girlfriend about it or do it in front of them!" "It's natural to find people attractive." When observing the array of comments, I i

The verdict is in. To no one's surprise, Jonathan Hoenig has been found guilty of being an idiot.

Just recently, when discussing the Michael Brown shooting and whether or not race had anything to do with it, Fox News contributor Jonathan Hoenig said, "You know who talks about race? Racists." One moment while I provide Mr. Hoenig with the well deserved slow-clap. :: slow-claps for two seconds :: So, that was quite the line by Mr. Hoenig, wasn't it? "You know who talks about race? Racists." Well, wasn't he just talking about race? So, by his own words, I guess that makes him a racist. Also, if he wants to be consistent, does this mean that people whom talk about gender are sexists and people whom talk about sexual orientation are homophobes? With that line of thinking, Hoenig would engage in the following back-and-forths: Hoenig: "So, who are you voting for?" A woman: "The Democratic candidate, because he's been adamant about his support for equal rights for women." Hoenig: "You sexist feminist nazi!"
