I've got nothing against former NFL head coach Mike Ditka. He was great while in Chicago (Da Bears!). He's improved as an ESPN Analyst and can be funny at times. However, I can't say I'm a huge fan of his "Stop It!" segment on Sunday NFL Countdown. Sometimes, I'll admit, it's so bad it's funny. For the most part, though, I really have to scratch my head at the fact the segment is still being aired weekly.
What Ditka does is stand up, stare angrily right into the camera and when hearing about three random topics, will give a 3-10 word response.
An example might be something along these lines:
Topic - "Detroit Lions post-play penalties..."
Ditka: "It's pretty easy to hit a guy when he's down, isn't it? Stop it!"
or
Topic - "The Indianapolis Colts 0-13..."
Ditka: "Whatever you've been doing for 13 games - Stop it!"
Ditka does this three times in a given week's program. The bit lasts MAYBE a minute, before Ditka goes to sit back down again.
So, I'd like to do my own such bit right now...
Topic - "Mike Ditka's Stop It segment..."
Me: "I could do a lot of other things during the minute you speak every week. Stop it!"
