For the hell of it the other day, I decided to tabulate the Politifact scorecards of everyone in the Obama and Trump administrations (including the presidents). Here's how the numbers broke down:
Obama/Cabinet
Grades: 1,033
True/Mostly True: 499 (48.3%)
False/Mostly False/Pants on Fire: 269 (26.0%)
Net: +22.3%
Trump/Cabinet
Grades: 944
True/Mostly True: 182 (19.3%)
False/Mostly False/Pants on Fire: 594 (62.9%)
Net: -43.6%
Difference: +65.9% (D)/-65.9% (R)
That should tell you a lot right there. This is where we are as a country right now. No, the Democratic Party isn't perfect, as those scores should dictate. However, they still tell the truth roughly double the number of times they utter a falsehood. On the other side of the aisle, however, the Republican Party averages to tell the truth 1 out of 5 times, while distorting the truth almost 2/3 of the time. Say whatever you want about the two parties, in this current day and age, one thing is for certain: the Republican Party's mascot should no longer be an elephant; it should be Pinocchio with his nose covered in bullsh*t.
