There was no divine intervention for Tim Tebow and the Broncos this year

I can't believe some people buy into this nonsense. Some actually believe that the Denver Broncos went 8-5 in their final 13 games (including the playoffs) because after Tim Tebow was announced he'd be the starting quarterback for the team, God intervened and helped them be successful to bring attention to himself and his teachings. Really? Even in defeat this past weekend to the New England Patriots, some Tebow-backers are claiming it was just God's way of saying that they can't expect him to do everything. They will need to show strength in faith and character in order to move further along in the coming seasons. Again, really?

Why? Why Tim Tebow? Why the Denver Broncos? There are plenty of religious players in the NFL, who take part in charities, missions, other projects to aid the less fortunate, etc. Why would God select Tebow over all the others? I'm sure there are some very devoted Christians on the Indianapolis Colts, who finished 2-14 this season and will have the #1 pick in the upcoming draft.

I'm just growing tired of this. Tim Tebow stunk it up from a statistical standpoint this year, but due to the Broncos' defense, special teams, running game and Tebow's lack of turning the ball over, they were able to come away with 8 wins in a 13-game span. This was also aided by the fact they played in the AFC West, where they were able to capture the division crown by going 8-8.

It's over. It's done. The Broncos lost. We are now down to four teams in two fascinating match-ups: Baltimore vs. New England and NY Giants vs. San Francisco. Let's focus on those two games, shall we? Thank you. Thank you very much.

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

Face guarding is legal in college football and the NFL

I just wanted to remind fans and announcers especially, that face guarding is legal in both college football and the NFL. It all comes down to contact. So long as a defender doesn't make contact with an intended receiver, he doesn't have to turn around to play the ball. I can't tell you how many times every week I hear announcers talk about face guarding being a penalty. It's not. I even heard one announcer yesterday state, "If the defender doesn't turn around and play the ball, the ref will call pass interference every time." That's simply not true. Courtesy of referee Bill LeMonnier, he says this with regard to the rule at the college level (answered on 8/12/13): "NCAA rules on pass interference require the face guarding to have contact to be a foul. No contact, no foul by NCAA rules." In the NFL rule book, this is written:  "Actions that constitute defensive pass interference include but are not limited to: (a) Contact by a ...
