Rush Dumbaugh strikes again...

It seems that every time radio show host Rush Limbaugh opens his mouth, he further proves the title of Al Franken's book, Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot. This was yet again the case when the conservative talk show host spoke to listeners about the death of actor/comedian Robin Williams, saying the following:

"What is the left's world view in general? If you had to attach, not a philosophy, but an attitude to a leftist world view. It's one of pessimism, and darkness, sadness. They're never happy, are they?"

He added:

"[Liberals] are animated in large part by the false promises of America, because the promises of America are not for everyone. He had it all, but he had nothing. Made everyone else laugh, but was miserable inside. It fits a certain picture or a certain image that the left has. [I'm] talking about low expectations and general unhappiness."

Lastly, Limbaugh uttered the following:

"Robin Williams felt guilty that he was still alive while his three friends (Christopher Reeve, Andy Kaufman, and John Belushi) had died young, and much earlier than he had. He could never get over the guilt that they died and he didn't. Well, that is a constant measurement that is made by political leftists in judging the country."

After reading these quotes, I seriously wonder if Mr. Limbaugh is taking crazy pills again, or if he ever stopped taking them in the first place. It's kind of ironic that Limbaugh comes down on Williams' depression and addiction, considering Limbaugh has been struggling with addiction himself (quite possibly due to depression), which makes me wonder if Limbaugh's rant is at least partially an example of projection.

Assuming for a moment that Limbaugh isn't projecting, his claims do appear to derive from a place I like to call crazy town.

What were the two main slogans President Obama ran on during his campaigns? "Hope and Change" and "Yes We Can." Mr. Limbaugh, what does that sound like to you?

"Pessimism, darkness, and sadness."

Indeed... Sure, progressives may, on average, not be as content as conservatives, but that's because we want to make a difference. We want to make a change. We want to make progress. It tends to make us feel good to help improve others' lives, to give to those who need it the most, and to improve the odds that our children's future will be a bright one. We don't tend to just want these changes. We believe they can happen and believe we can play a large determining factor in bringing these issues and changes to life. What does that kind of fight and hope for our future sound like to you, Mr. Limbaugh?

"Pessimism, darkness, and sadness."

Senator Franken, please take it away... "Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot." Thank you.

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

The difference between "looking" and "checking out"

I may be way off with these numbers, but it's my approximation that at least 75% of individuals whom are involved in a serious relationship feel it's perfectly acceptable to "check out" members of the opposite sex they're not involved with. Meanwhile, approximately 25% either don't feel this is acceptable or aren't sure about the matter. I hadn't thought about this matter for a while, but since I've been dating a woman for about 8 months, the topic has been pondered about some. When reading or hearing others discuss this very issue, I often times hear comments similar to the following: "It's human nature to look." "There's nothing wrong with checking others out. I'm sure he/she does it too!" "It's fine to do it. Just don't tell your boyfriend/girlfriend about it or do it in front of them!" "It's natural to find people attractive." When observing the array of comments, I i...
