#LasVegas and #LasVegasShooting

Following the horrific Las Vegas massacre, I made my voice heard on Twitter via the trending hashtags #LasVegas and #LasVegasShooting. Here are my posts, ordered from the most popular to the least popular (all my posts can be viewed here - https://twitter.com/CraigRozniecki):

1) The term "gun control" seems to be off-putting for some, as they're immediately panic-stricken due to "control" being in the title. Perhaps we should alter it in a sensible manner and simply call it pro-life legislation...

2) While some believe it's disrespectful to the victims when discussing gun violence shortly after a mass shooting, when are we going to finally display respect for human life by attempting to prevent more such victims down the road?

3) When it comes to abortion, GOPers are pro-birth. The only thing they're more pro than birth is guns (death). If women gave birth to guns, they'd be in heaven.

4) "Constitution!"
Things were a bit different 228 years ago.

"Chicago!"
Debunked.

"Criminals will get them regardless!"
So why have any laws?

"Good guys will kill bad guys!"
Where are these good guys?

"Guns don't kill!"
Tell that to the 59 people in Vegas.

5) 12/14/12: 27 shot & killed at Sandy Hook
GOP: "It's too soon to talk about this."

5 years later: 59 shot & killed at a country music festival
GOP: "It's still too soon."

Let's face it, it'll always be too soon, bc the GOP cares about money, not people's lives.

6) Members of Congress need to shut up with their thoughts and prayers, trying to play nice to save their jobs, and actually do something to try and save people's lives.

7) O'Reilly: "This is the price of freedom."
Since when is the freedom of owning a deadly weapon of greater importance than the freedom of breathing air, of living life? What about the victims' freedom?

8) With so many mass shootings in this country, it's always going to be "too soon" to talk about said problem, but it's never too soon to save a life, which means we should talk about it.

9) GOP: "We'll talk about guns later."
That's sweet, considering if guns had been talked about earlier, you could have saved lives. For every day that passes without this talk, more blood will be on your hands.

10) GOP: "We represent the American people."
90% of the American people: "We want stricter gun laws."
GOP: "No. As we said, we represent the American people, bigly."

11) Notice all the individuals who say it's not the right time to talk about gun violence are alive. Those who were killed by guns no longer have a voice and wish you would have talked about it sooner. Just sayin'.

11) Perhaps we should give GOPers a taste of their own medicine and use their post-mass shooting mindset against them when it comes to other issues. You want to talk about taking away our healthcare or women's reproductive rights? Sorry, now's not the time.

13) It seems the only time when it was appropriate to discuss gun violence in this country was after the Bowling Green massacre...

14) GOP: "The first step to solving a problem is denying it exists in the first place. That's just common sense."

15) GOPers fight for war and against: universal healthcare; gun laws; a healthy environment; means which decrease abortions (comprehensive sex education & contraception access); death penalty abolishment, yet call themselves pro-life. It really is bizarro world.

16) Dear NRA:
If standing up to save people's lives is wrong, I don't want to be right.

17) 59 killed, 500+ injured in a mass shooting
GOP: "Let's not talk about gun control. Instead, let's vote on controlling women's vaginas."

18) Trump: "US will be talking about gun laws as time goes by."
Time already went by for 59 people two nights ago due to a refusal to talk about gun laws. The time is here. The time is now.

19) Trump to shooting victims: "We're 100% with you and promise to try and make it just as easy, if not easier for you to get shot again."

20) What's more disrespectful to a domestic abuse victim, talking about it after the abuse turned fatal or ignoring it until it reached that point?

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

Face guarding is legal in college football and the NFL

I just wanted to remind fans and announcers especially, that face guarding is legal in both college football and the NFL. It all comes down to contact. So long as a defender doesn't make contact with an intended receiver, he doesn't have to turn around to play the ball. I can't tell you how many times every week I hear announcers talk about face guarding being a penalty. It's not. I even heard one announcer yesterday state, "If the defender doesn't turn around and play the ball, the ref will call pass interference every time." That's simply not true. Courtesy of referee Bill LeMonnier, he says this with regard to the rule at the college level (answered on 8/12/13): "NCAA rules on pass interference require the face guarding to have contact to be a foul. No contact, no foul by NCAA rules." In the NFL rule book, this is written:  "Actions that constitute defensive pass interference include but are not limited to: (a) Contact by a ...
