Iowa's Scott Schaben declares to the world he's not racist because he has a black wife

Potential Iowa Republican U.S. Senate candidate Scott Schaben appears to have received the following fictionalized GOP memo, which said:

"Yo. What up? Like, for real. So, anyway, Democrats are always playing the race card. For some odd reason, they paint this party as a bunch of racists. If any of you know a black person who doesn't hate you and might actually vote for you, be certain to make mention of this to prove once and for all we're not racists. Now let's go back to taking voting rights away from minorities."

If Schaben becomes the Republican candidate, he will face Representative Bruce Braley of the Democratic Party.

In an interview with the Times Herald, Schaben said, "Let's see Bruce Braley paint me as a racist with a black wife."

When attempting to elaborate on that statement in a separate interview with the Des Moines Register, Schaben said the following:

"I said, 'yeah, she's black, so if Bruce Braley wants to go ahead and paint me as a racist, have fun with that. That's what it was. It wasn't like, 'Hey, come at me. Republicans are getting painted as these old, rich, white racists. I'm not old - I'm under 40. I'm not rich - I don't have a million dollars in the bank. And I am not racist. ... That's one angle that you're not going be able to take on me."

While it's true that it would be incredibly difficult for a racist to marry a person of a different race than they, it's not entirely impossible. Often times, racists will have that one friend or partner of a different race, which they see as the exception. A couple old friends of mine, whom were both whiter than Marilyn Manson with face make-up on, had one black friend a piece - all the while painting a large majority of other African-Americans as the "n" word. This is a pretty dumb argument anyway, because what will showcase a greater degree of racism? Not marrying a person of a different race or supporting legislation to make it more difficult for other races to vote? There are sexist men whom still marry women. Does this act negate their being sexist?

Act: Man marries a woman

Man's thoughts: "Women belong in the kitchen! They don't deserve equal pay! They shouldn't work at all! Men should decide what they can do with their bodies, even if they're raped by men!"

Verdict: Sexist

Act: Scott Schaben marries an African-American woman

African-American voters in Iowa (yes, both of them):

Justin: "That Schaben dude seems pretty cool. He married a black chick! He seems different. He's not racist and stuff, you know?"

Jerome: "Yeah, but he and his party have also made it so you and I may not be able to vote!"

Justin: "Crap! That racist!"

Verdict: A confused man

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

Trump's Lie Tally at the CNN Debate

1) "We had the greatest economy in the history of our country. We had never done so well. Every – everybody was amazed by it. Other countries were copying us." 2) "But the thing we never got the credit for, and we should have, is getting us out of that COVID mess." 3) "The only jobs he created are for illegal immigrants and bounceback jobs; they’re bounced back from the COVID." 4) "Not going to drive them higher. It’s just going to cause countries that have been ripping us off for years, like China and many others, in all fairness to China – it’s going to just force them to pay us a lot of money, reduce our deficit tremendously, and give us a lot of power for other things." And then it blew up under his leadership, because they spent money like a bunch of people that didn’t know what t...
