Ignoramus Tom Cotton strikes again!

Arkansas senator and man voted most likely to be awarded the "Face of Stupid" for the year 2015 - Tom Cotton - recently added to his ever growing list of comments that make those with IQ's of 70 feel like they have IQ's of 100. Yes, the man with the plan for Iran, which included a condescending lecture-like letter on the U.S. Constitution that wasn't fully accurate, has been labeled as treasonous by some, and had the potential of completely derailing significant progress made by the U.S. in their negotiations with Iran regarding its nuclear program, is at it again - this time with regard to the controversial Indiana RFRA bill (Religious Freedom Restoration Act).

Appearing on CNN, the Republican senator said this:

"...I also think it's important that we have a sense of perspective about our priorities (with regard to RFRA). In Iran, they hang you for the crime of being gay. They're currently imprisoning an American preacher for spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ in Iran. We should focus on the most important priorities that our country faces right now. And I would say that a nuclear armed Iran, given the threat it poses ... is the most important thing we could be focusing on right now."

Translation: "Sure, Republicans are trying to prevent gays from attaining equal rights and are even trying to provide them fewer rights in some cases, but hey, at least you're not getting killed for it like they do in Iran. It's like I always say, if we don't kill you for it, don't cry about it!"

Based on that quote and rationale, don't be surprised to hear Senator Cotton make the following comments at some point in his hopefully short political career:

- "Ladies, stop your whining about equal pay. Think of it this way; at least you're not getting stoned for being sluts!"

- "American-Muslim people, you really need to cool it with that whole Americans-think-we're-all-terrorists jargon. It could be worse. We could be bombing you and all your other Muslim terrorist friends and families overseas, right? I mean, come on; let's get some perspective here."

- "Black African-American citizens, please stop it with the rhetoric that we're racist and out to get you or something. At least you're not 3/5 of a person like before. Wait, 5/5 is greater than 3/5, right? Crap, where's my calculator?"

Yeah, at right this very moment, I have to imagine every state outside of Arkansas is saying to themselves, "We could have it a lot worse; we could have Tom Cotton as our senator."

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

Face guarding is legal in college football and the NFL

I just wanted to remind fans and announcers especially, that face guarding is legal in both college football and the NFL. It all comes down to contact. So long as a defender doesn't make contact with an intended receiver, he doesn't have to turn around to play the ball. I can't tell you how many times every week I hear announcers talk about face guarding being a penalty. It's not. I even heard one announcer yesterday state, "If the defender doesn't turn around and play the ball, the ref will call pass interference every time." That's simply not true. Courtesy of referee Bill LeMonnier, he says this with regard to the rule at the college level (answered on 8/12/13): "NCAA rules on pass interference require the face guarding to have contact to be a foul. No contact, no foul by NCAA rules." In the NFL rule book, this is written:  "Actions that constitute defensive pass interference include but are not limited to: (a) Contact by a ...
