Info on my Facebook business, Twitter, and Tumblr pages

Here's the URL to my Facebook business page. I update it fairly regularly, but still haven't put forth a great deal of effort yet in researching matters and attempting to make the most out of it. Trump: Big-league or bigly? Does it even matter?

While bigly is actually a word, it's not commonly used, and sounds rather comical. So when it sounded as though Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump used this term on a number of occasions, comedians poked fun at him while supporters laid claim that their candidate said big-league , not bigly . Given the context of many of his quotes, does it even matter which term he used? First off, what is big-league ? Here are the two definitions of the term: 1) "of or belonging to a major league" 2) "among the largest, foremost, etc., of its kind" Given that, let's look back at some of Trump's bigly moments and see how he'd come across if he indeed said big-league : Original quote: "We're not going to lose. We're going to start winning again, and we're going to win bigly." Big-league version #1: "We're not going to lose. We're going to start winning again, and we're going to win of or belonging to a majo...

The Constitution: Modern-Day Republican Version

Far-right Republicans often like to call themselves Constitutionalists, but just how accurate is that label? If the modern-day GOP were to write the Constitution today, here are just a few changes I think they'd make: 1st Amendment "Congress shall respect Jerry Falwell's interpretation of Christianity more than any other religion. Due to that, Congress shall make no law prohibiting freedom of speech, even when this speech negates others of their rights. Conservative-friendly media outlets should be so free they're allowed to tell the world that gravity was a myth passed down by one King Fallen without so much as a smirk." 2nd Amendment "An unregulated Militia, being necessary to the profit of the National Rifle Association, the right of the people to keep and bear firearms which could potentially kill 200 people per minute, shall not be infringed, because Jesus." 4th Amendment "The right of the people to feel secure in their homes against u...

Refuting another ridiculous anti-gun control Facebook meme

It seems that whenever a mass shooting occurs in this country, the NRA is ready to release a handful of memes which combat gun control advocates' arguments. In light of the horrific Orlando shooting a couple weeks ago, this cycle again repeated itself, and again, the meme was so asinine, I felt the need to comment on it. Here's what it said: "Anyone using their 1st Amendment rights on the Internet to tell me the 2nd Amendment only covers muskets because the AR was not invented yet. Get off your computer and write me a letter with a quill pen, then have it delivered by some guy on a horse and then and only then can we start the discussion of why you are wrong." I'm sorry, but did the Founding Fathers ever write the following words in the Constitution? "A well regulated student body, being necessary to the academic progression of our citizens, the right of the people to keep and write with quill pens, shall not be infringed." or "A well regu...

eTrumptyDumpty

Well, it's here, what we've all been waiting for - a Donald Trump supporter dating site. TrumpSingles.com , created by 35-year-old lifetime Republican David Goss, isn't a parody site. It's objective is to bring Trump supporters together and find love in the process. It may cost $4.95 per month, but as always, poking fun of the site is priceless. :: cue the MasterCard commercial theme song :: Given what Trump has said in the past, I envision the following profile of a male  TrumpSingles.com  member: Self-Summary I'm like all the other guys, only better. Okay, I'm the best. Modesty can only get a person so far, right? I'm handsome, brilliant, genius really, rich, with lots of money, and yuge. I like long walks on the beach, while holding my massive artillery, and pretending I have Tourette's Syndrome. Sometimes I get a little tired of being the best at everything, but as the saying goes, "You can't spell 'the best and brightest in the wo...

Closing out the NBA season: Barkley, Ayesha, babies, and more!

The NBA season is finally over, so I thought I'd provide some closing thoughts: - While NBA analyst Charles Barkley is entertaining at times, the guy comes across as batsh*t crazy at others (or perhaps it's this batsh*t craziness which makes him entertaining). The man can't seem to given an ounce of respect for the Golden State Warriors, even though the team won the championship a year ago and had the best record in league history this season. The team may be drastically different to teams he played for a couple decades ago, but give credit where credit is due. Not only has he made a habit of bashing the Warriors, he hasn't been coy about bashing LeBron James. Even after James' incredible close to the finals, resulting in his third championship ring, Barkley decided it was again time to say the finals MVP still doesn't rank in his top 5 of all time. The guy isn't receiving letters from AARP just yet. He has three championships to his credit, not to mention...

"Autism Speaks"

I'm growing increasingly more amazed by the number of people I personally know who have family members that have been diagnosed with autism. Just recently I was notified about a reputable organization whose main intent is bringing awareness, hope, and aid to those affected with autism. The organization is called "Autism Speaks," and more information can be found at this link: https://www.autismspeaks.org/ways-give?gclid=CjwKEAjwqJ67BRCzzJ7Hy-LYlFYSJABwp9PGxaScEO-GR1UYadoZfPjp7j0qMG0ve23zrUNUbF_NDhoCERzw_wcB Ways you can help include: - Buying merchandise - Becoming a corporate partner - Workplace giving - Matching gifts - Donating your vehicle - Wedding favors - Bequests and planned giving - Earning money for the organization while walking, running, or biking - Installing the We-Care app and donating through shopping online Once again, you can read about all this and more at this site: https://www.autismspeaks.org/ways-give?gclid=CjwKEAjwqJ67BRCz...

Moderation is easier said than done

What's one of the first things everyone tells you when you talk about getting into better shape? "It's really all about moderation." While that might be technically true, it's also next to impossible. After I got over a 2-year illness about 5 years ago, I went on an exercise tear, and lost a ton of weight in the process. Not only did I exercise a great deal every day, I became Mr. No with regard to desserts, fried food, fast food, junk food, soda pop, etc. I was stricter on my diet than Donald Trump was with his illegal immigrant workers. Time after time, I would get told, "It's okay to snack here and there. Just do it in moderation." When I became more lax with my diet, I wound up gaining most of the weight back, and I've ended up going through such a cycle on multiple occasions since. Moderation may sound nice, but it's much easier said than done. It's fairly easy to say no to cigarettes, alcohol, or junk food after a certain peri...

Does the phrase "persons of color" bother anyone else?

Am I the only one who's bothered by the phrase "persons of color"? I think it rubs me the wrong way for two reasons. First, why is it offensive to use the phrase "colored people" but inoffensive to say "persons of color"? If one is offensive, shouldn't both be offensive? If I were to anger a group of individuals I called "stupid people," wouldn't they likely be angered if I were to alter that phrase to "people of idiocy"? Secondly, if we take the phrase "persons of color" literally, doesn't it come across as kind of ridiculous? To my knowledge, nobody is clear, colorless, transparent. We all have color to us, from the whitest of white to the blackest of black and everywhere in between. I, like most "white" people, am peachy/pinkish in color. So when I hear someone say "persons of color," my immediate thought is, "So, we're talking about everyone then?" More times than not w...

GOP goes with a virgin surgeon over an experienced one

In a surprise move, 50 million registered Republicans have opted to get treated by self-certified surgeon Ronald Dump of Dump University over Dr. Mallory Smitten, who has been operating on patients for over two decades. According to Mr. Dump's website, he's never operated on a person and never been in med school, but did dress up like a doctor on Halloween in college. When I caught up with Mr. Dump and asked him about the matter, here's what he told me: "Look, I just know how to do things, how to get things done. Put me in one of those special rooms, put a robe on me or whatever, hand me a thermometer thing, a mask deal, and an axe or something, and I'm going to do an unbelievable job, believe me. Just tremendous, fantastic, unbelievable." Following this statement, here's what a few of Mr. Dump's new patients had to say on Twitter: - "The guy just tells it like it is." - Username Tweetledum - "Orange is the new lifesaver!"...

Parodies I've written and sung

Due to my love for writing, satire in particular, and compliments I've received from drunk people at bars for my singing, I decided to start writing parodies. I was unable to attach individual (music) files to this blog, so I created a site which would allow for me to add such files and share them on here. To this point, the parodies are largely centered around Donald Trump. To check them out, go to the link below. While I'll surely write more such songs in the future, here are the five I've written and sung to this point: 1) "The Best Words on Earth" (based off Marilyn Manson's song, "The Last Day on Earth") 2) "The Donald Fan" (based off Billy Joel's song, "Piano Man") 3) "Tweeting Some Lies" (based off Neil Diamond's song, "Sweet Caroline") 4) "You're So Vague" (based off Carly Simon's song, "You're So Vain") 5) "Yuge" (based off Better Than Ezra...

"R.I.P. America," so says a Facebook post...

In light of the horrific mass shooting in Orlando, Florida over the weekend, I read this post on an old friend of mine's Facebook page: "R.I.P. America!!! You went soft on discipline. You raised the cost of living so high that both parents are always at work, rather than spending time with their children. You took God out of schools. Parents were told 'No you can't discipline your kids'. Kids had rights blah, blah, blah. Well. America!! We have lost a whole generation and turned them into selfish, disrespectful brats who have no respect for people, property or authority! Things need to change! This is the first time I've EVER done the whole copy and paste but I couldn't agree more with this!" While I can understand we all grieve and react to tragedy differently, this post has been going around since at least 2011 and comes across like someone whom was rejected for a role in the film Grumpy Old Men . Look, change is inevitable, and whether or not ...

NRA trolls, stop acting like facts and logic are on your side. They're not.

When 9/11 occurred, everyone in this country was frightened, and understandably, we sought comfort, answers, and a way forward. A majority of people appeared to have no problem affording the government more power to provide us with a sense of security, a feeling such an attack would never happen again. We even went so far as to allow the government to impede on our civil liberties for this feeling of comfort. This was over a (hopefully) once-in-a-lifetime attack, where 3,000 people lost their lives. Sadly, on an annual basis, we lose approximately 30,000 people in this country to gun violence. If we use that number and apply it equally across years, approximately 450,000 people have died via gun violence since the 9/11 attacks. Just based on the number of fatalities, we've suffered 150 9/11s via gun violence since September 11th (2001). Yet, no matter how many die from gun violence, Congress won't seem to budge on the matter. This is largely due to the power of the gun lobby, l...

We'll stop talking about it when action is finally taken!

After the horrific mass shooting in Orlando, Florida over the weekend, I can't tell you how many times I heard the following statements: - "Let's not politicize this tragedy." - "It's too soon to talk about this." - "Let's hold a moment of silence and pray." - "Let's discuss at a later time." - "I'm so sick of talking about mass shootings and guns!" Well, guess what? We're all sick of having to discuss this subject on a seemingly weekly basis, but you know who's sickest of all? The victims' friends and family members. Time after time we go through this same cycle: 1) A mass shooting occurs 2) The GOP says we'll discuss gun violence at a later date 3) That discussion never takes place 4) Another mass shooting occurs We are in this continuous deadly cycle of ignoring gun violence. Every time we don't talk about this subject, we place more lives at risk. Thoughts and prayers...

Parody "Tweeting Some Lies" (to the tune of Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline")

"Tweeting Some Lies" Where they began No one really knows White supremacists going strong Was in the morning And morning became the evening The bullsh*t continues on Lies, putrid lies Reaching out, deceiving me, deceiving you Tweeting some lies Retweets never seemed so bad Please inform your mind These white hoods aren't very rad So now I... ...Fact-check the posts They don't seem too likely The president wasn't born on Mars And when we debate They look like a deer in headlights Not sure what's going on Brains, washing brains Reaching out, deceiving me, deceiving you Tweeting some lies Retweets never seemed so bad Please inform your mind These white hoods aren't very rad Oh, hell no Tweeting some lies Retweets never seemed so bad Tweeting some lies These white hoods aren't very rad Tweeting some lies Retweets never seemed so bad http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/neildiamond/sweetcaroline.html

Parody "The Donald Fan" (to the tune of Billy Joel's "Piano Man")

"The Donald Fan" The clock reads a number on that one day The poorly educated waltz in There are old men standing everywhere Waiting for an Oompa Loompa's twin They say, "Tell us another random story" One which stretches the truth It's vague yet hyperbolic It sounds incomplete Like they almost always do This is the life of The Donald fan This is the life tonight They're in the mood for some fallacies And he's got them feeling all white The Donald is a friend of theirs He feeds them lies for free He's quick with self-praise and bashing on gays Yet with women he's been married to three He says, "People, Mexicans are killing us" "Muslims and fact-checkers too" "The liberal media will research my words" "And I just want tell them all, 'Yeah, well, f-you too!" Trumpeteers are ardent immoralists The Golden Rule seen as dark green Greed and narcissism best friends of theirs Wh...

Jesus is facepalming himself over (Jeffrey) Lord's comments

Well, the Lord hath spoken, and it wasn't powerful, pretty, nor even pretty powerful. After Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan criticized presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump's racist comments regarding Mexican-American judge Gonzalo Curiel (he was born in Indiana), CNN commentator Jeffrey Lord decided to defend Trump by saying this: "Speaker Ryan is wrong and Speaker Ryan has apparently switched positions and is supporting identity politics, which is racist. I am astonished." He added: "I am accusing anybody who believes in identity politics, which he apparently does now, of playing the race card. The Republican establishment is playing this, Senator [Mitch McConnell] is playing this. These people have run and hid and borrowed the Democratic agenda of playing the race card. It's just wrong!" This is one of the major problems with the modern-day Republican Party - to put it bluntly, they don't know what in the hell they're talking about. ...
