Week 9 NFL Predictions

Thursday
Game: Cincinnati at Miami

Pick: Cincinnati - These two teams appear to be going in opposite directions. After starting the year 3-0, the Miami Dolphins have lost four straight to move to 3-4. Cincinnati, meanwhile, has won four consecutive games to take a solid lead in the AFC North. Look for the trends to continue as the Bengals win by a couple of scores.

Result: Miami 22 Cincinnati 20 OT

Record: 0-1

Sunday
Game: Kansas City at Buffalo

Pick: Kansas City - It may sound odd, but each and every week, I feel nervous picking the unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs. Over the past couple of weeks against teams with a combined 5-10 record, the Chiefs have won the two games by a combined score of 40 to 33. With Buffalo's offense hobbled by injuries, I look for that trend to continue, as Kansas City wins another nail-biter, this time on the road against the Bills.

Result: Kansas City 23 Buffalo 13

Record: 1-1

Game: Minnesota at Dallas

Pick: Dallas - It really seems like Dallas tries, with all its might, to lose some games, like they did in their 31-30 loss to Detroit this past weekend, where the Cowboys finished the game at +4 in turnovers, yet found a way to blow a 10-point 4th quarter lead. Lucky for them, Minnesota rolls into town a bigger mess than a college hoarder's dorm room. With the game at home and the Vikings' defense performing worse than a mime speed dating, I give the edge to the Cowboys.

Result: Dallas 27 Minnesota 23

Record: 2-1

Game: Tennessee at St. Louis

Pick: Tennessee - With a week off to allow quarterback Jake Locker and company more time to gel, I like the fundamentally sound Titans to even their record with a road win against the banged up Rams. St. Louis back-up quarterback Kellen Clemens will feel like Daylight Savings Time directly revolves around him, as he'll feel as if the game has lasted an hour longer than it actually did.

Result: Tennessee 28 St. Louis 21

Record: 3-1

Game: New Orleans at NY Jets

Pick: New Orleans - While Geno Smith is due for a good game, since he and the team have been up and down all season and he had a poor showing against the Cincinnati Bengals this past weekend, I still have to give the edge to the high-flying Saints, who are continuing to showcase themselves as a standout team in the NFC.

Result: NY Jets 26 New Orleans 20

Record: 3-2

Game: San Diego at Washington

Pick: San Diego - This would normally be a toss-up game to me, but with RGIII likely not playing at 100% and San Diego coming off a bye week, I look for the uber-efficient Chargers passing attack to have a field day against the less-than-stellar Redskins defense. Washington may score a few points, but not enough to pull out the victory.

Result: Washington 30 San Diego 24 OT

Record: 3-3

Game: Atlanta at Carolina

Pick: Carolina - I think, for the time being, I've given up on the Atlanta Falcons, kind of like I did with the Houston Texans. While, when healthy, the Falcons appear to have a playoff-worthy team, they just haven't played that way, and are too banged up at the skill positions for me to have much confidence in them right now. Carolina, meanwhile, has been playing well on the defensive side of the ball all year, and their offense has shown signs of improvement in recent weeks as well. With the game at home, I look for the trends to continue, as the Panthers win this one by about 10.

Result: Carolina 34 Atlanta 10

Record: 4-3

Game: Philadelphia at Oakland

Pick: Oakland - The Eagles have scored a total of just 10 points in their past two games, and the touchdown came courtesy of the special teams. Michael Vick is likely out of this game with a bad hamstring. Nick Foles is questionable due to a concussion. Matt Barkley is a rookie and has been playing that way the past couple of games. Not only that, but tailback LeSean McCoy has appeared very average these past couple of weeks. With the uncertainty at quarterback and the Raiders' solid defense likely limiting McCoy's effectiveness again, I like for the Raiders to even their record with a win in this one.

Result: Philadelphia 49 Oakland 20

Record: 4-4

Game: Tampa Bay at Seattle

Pick: Seattle - It's bad enough that the Buccaneers are winless at this point in the season and appear to have given up on their head coach. Now they have to head to the loudest stadium in all the league. This has all the makings of a butt-kicking, which may leave Greg Schiano wanting to head back to the college ranks.

Result: Seattle 27 Tampa Bay 24 OT

Record: 5-4

Game: Baltimore at Cleveland

Pick: Baltimore - Like the New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys, the Baltimore Ravens have been very up and down this year. Predicting a Ravens game this year is like flipping an oddly shaped coin, where the flipper has just a 49% chance of guessing correctly. Coming off a much needed bye week, though, and facing the struggling Cleveland Browns, I give the Ravens a slight edge in this one. I'll take Baltimore by a touchdown.

Result: Cleveland 24 Baltimore 18

Record: 5-5

Game: Pittsburgh at New England

Pick: New England - Like with the 8-0 Kansas City Chiefs, I get nervous every time I pick the 6-2 New England Patriots to win. There are some weeks they have looked slower on offense than a sumo wrestler walking in his sleep. Yet, for 6 of the 8 games they've played to this point, the Pats have found a way to win at game's end. While I don't think Pittsburgh is as bad as their record would indicate, I still have a difficult time seeing the struggling Steelers coming out of Foxboro with a win. I'll take the Patriots by a field goal.

Result: New England 55 Pittsburgh 31

Record: 6-5

Game: Indianapolis at Houston

Pick: Indianapolis - Like I said with Atlanta, I've kind of given up on the Houston Texans. While the Kansas City Chiefs just find ways to win, it seems as if Houston just finds ways to lose. With Andrew Luck and the upstart Indianapolis Colts coming to town, expect that trend to continue. I like Indy by 10.

Result: Indianapolis 27 Houston 24

Record: 7-5

Monday
Game: Chicago at Green Bay

Pick: Green Bay - Jay Cutler is out for the Chicago Bears, and with their defense playing as poorly as it has been, they'll need to score plenty of points to even compete in this one. Unfortunately for them, I don't see that happening. I like the Packers to win this one and win it fairly convincingly.

Result: Chicago 27 Green Bay 20

Record: 7-6

Week 9: 7-6 (.538)

Total: 83-50 (.624)

Comments

  1. Thankfully there were cheap jerseys no takers.

He was finally cheap jerseys hauled down at the Texans' 20-yard line.

It's just easier and not even that much more expensive than Moringa seeds.
New York Jets Game Preview Should Tim Tebow Return to Denver Broncos
Behind Peyton Manning? Brown is very good at deep
routes and has very good hands but he can't last the season if he's forced to
score just to keep his job as the Redskins' would be.
It's just not one that means that much. Que lastima que no valoremos a este jugador.

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun

The difference between "looking" and "checking out"

I may be way off with these numbers, but it's my approximation that at least 75% of individuals whom are involved in a serious relationship feel it's perfectly acceptable to "check out" members of the opposite sex they're not involved with. Meanwhile, approximately 25% either don't feel this is acceptable or aren't sure about the matter. I hadn't thought about this matter for a while, but since I've been dating a woman for about 8 months, the topic has been pondered about some. When reading or hearing others discuss this very issue, I often times hear comments similar to the following: "It's human nature to look." "There's nothing wrong with checking others out. I'm sure he/she does it too!" "It's fine to do it. Just don't tell your boyfriend/girlfriend about it or do it in front of them!" "It's natural to find people attractive." When observing the array of comments, I i

The verdict is in. To no one's surprise, Jonathan Hoenig has been found guilty of being an idiot.

Just recently, when discussing the Michael Brown shooting and whether or not race had anything to do with it, Fox News contributor Jonathan Hoenig said, "You know who talks about race? Racists." One moment while I provide Mr. Hoenig with the well deserved slow-clap. :: slow-claps for two seconds :: So, that was quite the line by Mr. Hoenig, wasn't it? "You know who talks about race? Racists." Well, wasn't he just talking about race? So, by his own words, I guess that makes him a racist. Also, if he wants to be consistent, does this mean that people whom talk about gender are sexists and people whom talk about sexual orientation are homophobes? With that line of thinking, Hoenig would engage in the following back-and-forths: Hoenig: "So, who are you voting for?" A woman: "The Democratic candidate, because he's been adamant about his support for equal rights for women." Hoenig: "You sexist feminist nazi!"
