Week 7 NFL Predictions

Thursday
Game: Seattle at San Francisco

Prediction: Seattle - It's do or die time for the Seattle Seahawks. At 2-4 and two games behind first place Arizona, the Seahawks are going to have to start winning games in a hurry, especially against NFC West foes. If they don't win this game, they'll find themselves at 2-5, likely 3 games behind Arizona and in last place in the division. San Francisco has been a much better home than road team this year, but with defending NFC champion Seattle in desperation mode, I'm going to give them the edge. Seahawks by 6.

Result: Seattle 20 San Francisco 3

Record: 1-0

Sunday
Game: Buffalo vs. Jacksonville (in London)

Prediction: Buffalo - Buffalo continues to be one of the most unpredictable teams in the league this year, while Jacksonville seems to continue finding ways to lose at game's end. Whether it's Tyrod Taylor or E.J. Manuel behind center, though, I give the edge to the Bills. I'll take Buffalo by a touchdown.

Result: Jacksonville 34 Buffalo 31

Record: 1-1

Game: Tampa Bay at Washington

Prediction: Washington - Speaking of inconsistent, that word perfectly captures the 2015 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Look for Washington's stout defense to give rookie quarterback Jameis Winston fits, forcing him to turn the ball over multiple times, en route to a 7-point victory for the 'Skins.

Result: Washington 31 Tampa Bay 30

Record: 2-1

Game: Atlanta at Tennessee

Prediction: Atlanta - Atlanta suffered their first defeat on Thursday night against the Saints. Look for the Falcons to correct their mistakes from that game to win on the road against the Titans. I'll go with the Falcons by 10.

Result: Atlanta 10 Tennessee 7

Record: 3-1

Game: New Orleans at Indianapolis

Prediction: New Orleans - While the throwing shoulder of Drew Brees appeared to be in ideal form in the Saints' Thursday night upset victory over the Atlanta Falcons, that wasn't the case with Andrew Luck's shoulder in the Colts' Sunday night loss to the Patriots. Given that and the fact New Orleans has three more days of rest, practice, and preparation than Indianapolis, I'm going to go with the Saints on the road by a field goal.

Result: New Orleans 27 Indianapolis 21

Record: 4-1

Game: Minnesota at Detroit

Prediction: Detroit - I switched my pick at the last minute. Adrian Peterson is questionable, so that's enough for me to change my pick. I'll go with the Lions at home by 3.

Result: Minnesota 28 Detroit 19

Record: 4-2

Game: Pittsburgh at Kansas City

Prediction: Pittsburgh - Whether it's Ben Roethlisberger, Michael Vick, or Landry Jones behind center for the Steelers, they just seem to find ways to win. Whoever's at quarterback, the return of Martavis Bryant will make a huge difference for the Pittsburgh offense. Kansas City has also suffered mightily from the injury bug and just isn't the same team without Jamal Charles. I'll go with the Steelers by a touchdown.

Result: Kansas City 23 Pittsburgh 13

Record: 4-3

Game: Cleveland at St. Louis

Prediction: St. Louis - Jeff Fisher coached teams typically win after bye weeks. With that being the case for this game and with it being at home, I give a slight edge to the Rams. I'll take St. Louis by a field goal.

Result: St. Louis 24 Cleveland 6

Record: 5-3

Game: Houston at Miami

Prediction: Miami - For the first time this season, the Miami Dolphins actually looked like a team that wanted to play football in their 38-10 win over Tennessee on Sunday. I look for that to continue against the seemingly lost Houston Texans, who are still searching for an identity. I'll go with Miami by 6.

Result: Miami 44 Houston 26

Record: 6-3

Game: NY Jets at New England

Prediction: NY Jets - While it's almost as likely I'll win on FanDuel as it is for Tom Brady to lose at home, it's highly unlikely any team will finish 16-0 this season, I like how the New York Jets are playing right now, and the Jets defense is probably more likely than any other to give Tom Brady and the New England Patriots offense problems this year. Chris Ivory and Brandon Marshall should give the Patriots defense some problems as well. I'm going to take the Jets in my upset of the week, with a huge 3-point road victory against the unbeaten Patriots.

Result: New England 30 NY Jets 23

Record: 6-4

Game: Oakland at San Diego

Prediction: San Diego - This should be an entertaining game. Oakland has a young, explosive, and fun offense and Philip Rivers is one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the league. With the Chargers at 2-4, in desperation mode, and playing at home, though, I'll give them the slight advantage. I'm taking the Chargers by 4.

Result: Oakland 37 San Diego 29

Record: 6-5

Game: Dallas at NY Giants

Prediction: NY Giants - The most critical factor in deciding this game is health and for the time being, the New York Giants are far healthier than the Dallas Cowboys, who they're trying to pay back for their heart-breaking Week 1 loss in Dallas. I'll take the Giants by 10.

Result: NY Giants 27 Dallas 20

Record: 7-5

Game: Philadelphia at Carolina

Prediction: Philadelphia - The 5-0 Panthers deserve a lot of credit for finding ways to win week in and week out, however, I just have a difficult time believing they're as good as their record indicates, and think their inconsistent offense will get the best of them sometime soon. I look for that to start this week, as the Eagles put things together on offense and win a tough road game by 4.

Result: Carolina 27 Philadelphia 16

Record: 7-6

Monday
Game: Baltimore at Arizona

Prediction: Arizona - What happened to Baltimore? The Ravens are 1-5, coming off another disappointing effort, this time against San Francisco. Arizona turned the ball over one too many times in their loss to Pittsburgh. Look for the Cardinals to bounce back at home with a 10-point win over the now 1-6 Ravens.

Result: Arizona 26 Baltimore 18

Record: 8-6

Week 7 Record: 8-6 (.571)

Overall Record: 63-42 (.600)

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun

The difference between "looking" and "checking out"

I may be way off with these numbers, but it's my approximation that at least 75% of individuals whom are involved in a serious relationship feel it's perfectly acceptable to "check out" members of the opposite sex they're not involved with. Meanwhile, approximately 25% either don't feel this is acceptable or aren't sure about the matter. I hadn't thought about this matter for a while, but since I've been dating a woman for about 8 months, the topic has been pondered about some. When reading or hearing others discuss this very issue, I often times hear comments similar to the following: "It's human nature to look." "There's nothing wrong with checking others out. I'm sure he/she does it too!" "It's fine to do it. Just don't tell your boyfriend/girlfriend about it or do it in front of them!" "It's natural to find people attractive." When observing the array of comments, I i

The verdict is in. To no one's surprise, Jonathan Hoenig has been found guilty of being an idiot.

Just recently, when discussing the Michael Brown shooting and whether or not race had anything to do with it, Fox News contributor Jonathan Hoenig said, "You know who talks about race? Racists." One moment while I provide Mr. Hoenig with the well deserved slow-clap. :: slow-claps for two seconds :: So, that was quite the line by Mr. Hoenig, wasn't it? "You know who talks about race? Racists." Well, wasn't he just talking about race? So, by his own words, I guess that makes him a racist. Also, if he wants to be consistent, does this mean that people whom talk about gender are sexists and people whom talk about sexual orientation are homophobes? With that line of thinking, Hoenig would engage in the following back-and-forths: Hoenig: "So, who are you voting for?" A woman: "The Democratic candidate, because he's been adamant about his support for equal rights for women." Hoenig: "You sexist feminist nazi!"
