Fox News contributor Todd Starnes wasn't the happiest guy in the world when the Grammy's hosted a mass wedding, which included gay couples. In reaction to this, he tweeted the following message: "I've never seen such a display of intolerance, bigotry and hatred. #Grammys #antichristian" I'm sorry, but that has to be one of the most unintentionally funny tweets I've ever read. The Grammy's celebrated love by hosting this mass wedding, regardless of race, creed, or orientation. In other words, it was the epitome of tolerance, open-mindedness, and love - the antithesis of what Todd Starnes claimed. Either Todd Starnes is a complete idiot or the guy is celebrating opposite day. I'm going to guess the former over the latter. While Starnes is at it, if a bill gets passed which would result in women getting paid equally as men for equal work, he might as well just tweet, "I've never seen such a display of sexism #antiman #antipenis....

We can debate the reasoning all we'd like, but it seems that there's nothing the Republican Party hates more than President Obama. His healthcare overhaul was a Republican idea back in the '90s, but since it has Obama's name on it, Congressional Republicans have attempted to repeal the bill over 40 times. Many Republicans supported the NSA after 9/11 when President George W. Bush was in office. Under Obama, they're fierce opponents of it. It's as if, since President Obama was inaugurated, the GOP has decided to play the opposite game with him. If he says one thing, they will respond by disagreeing and suggesting the opposite route would be better for the country. This "opposite game" has gotten so ridiculous, I suggest that President Obama has a little fun with the GOP by uttering the following quotes: President Obama: "As the song goes, I think the children are our future. Following President Obama's State of the Union speech last night, the Republican Party called on Washington (state) Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers to respond. While I'll give the Washington Representative credit in that she didn't have a Bobby Jindal or Marco Rubio type of laugh-out-loud moment during her rebuttal, the speech possessed more vagueness than a horoscope, which says, "Ask a Magic 8-ball or something." Here's my impression of her speech: "Whatever the president said tonight, which wasn't much, didn't touch on the issues affecting most Americans' lives. Not only that, but he provided a more gloomy view of this country's future with whatever words he spoke. I, as a representative of the Republican Party, would like to offer you a brighter vision of the future. See the brightness and feel the warmth of that sunshine. See the flowers bloom and witness your life improving as well. That's what the Republican Party ...

Well, I've finally reached the point I've been dreading - proofreading, editing, in-depth research and footnotes. While, in general, I enjoy researching, that's not really the case when it comes to books, because the process seems to last about as long as the writing did. Also, with me tackling four books simultaneously, it becomes almost overwhelming to even ponder about. But, I've finally reached that point, so I'll just have to take a deep breath (several of them, in all likelihood) and deal with it. The rough drafts of all four books are completed, so I'll start with the two general sarcasm books and see how long those take me before moving onto the two political satires. I'll be sure to keep readers updated through the process. Hopefully I can maintain my sanity long enough to finish all four! Wish me luck!

Georgia Representative and man who may have been the main influence for Ozzy Osbourne's song "Crazy Train" - Paul Broun - is about as anti-government as nuns are anti-orgy. But a recent report may showcase that Broun isn't as anti-government handout as he'd like for people to believe. With the Republican Party having such a bad week when it comes to their rebranding efforts in trying to appeal to more female voters, it seems only fitting that they slip up at least once with regard to minority voters. On Friday, the Iowa Republican Party decided to post a flowchart on their Facebook page, mocking racism and how the GOP likes to claim liberals pull out the race card more than a 21-year-old with the face of a 16-year-old pulls out his or her ID when going to a bar called Gettin' Messed Up. Up top on the flowchart are the words, "Is someone a racist?" Directly underneath that question is another question - "Are they white?" If the person answers no, then it says, "They are not racist." On Meet the Press earlier today, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul decided to continue the recent GOP trend of trying to lose women's votes, when he said the following: "This whole sort of war on women thing, I'm scratching my head because if there was a war on women, I think they won. You know, the women in my family are incredibly successful. I have a niece at Cornell vet school, and 85% of the young people there are women. Law school, 60% are women. In med school, 55%. Billionaire Thomas Perkins recently wrote a letter-to-the-editor in the Wall Street Journal which made me realize it is possible be both a billionaire and stupid. In this letter-to-the-editor, the venture capitalist wrote the following: "I would call attention to the parallels of fascist Nazy Germany to its war on its 'one percent,' namely its Jews, to the progressive war on the American one percent, namely the 'rich.' ... In the state of Virginia, it's prohibited for visitors to bring American flags and signs attached to sticks to the state legislature, because sticks can be used as weapons. Guns, meanwhile, can be carried into Virginia's state legislature, because, well, you've all heard the phrase, right? "Guns don't kill people; American flags on sticks do." Members of the group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America found this out on Martin Luther King Day this past Monday, when they attempted to walk inside the state capitol, but were told they couldn't bring anything attached to the deadliest weapon known to man - a stick. Just recently, a Canadian entrepreneur proved it is very possible to simultaneously be a millionaire and an idiot. On The Lang & O'Leary Exchange , Canadian millionaire Kevin O'Leary said the following with regard to a recent report about the rise in income inequality: "It's fantastic! This is a great thing because it inspires everybody, gets them motivation to look up to the one percent and say, 'I want to become one of those people, I'm going to fight hard to get up to the top. this is fantastic news and of course I'm going to applaud it! What can be wrong with this?" Co-host Amanda Lang then stared at him with the classic I-can't-believe-what-you-just-said look, and said, "Really?" O'Leary responded with, "Yes, really. Remember how, after the 2012 elections, the Republican Party talked about re-branding themselves of being more tolerant? Of trying to attract more voters, such as women and minorities? How's that going? Some words of advice for the GOP - it doesn't help to just say you're going to re-brand if you don't actually follow through with it. It's not going to help a marriage if an alcoholic husband says he's going to clean up his act, all the while he's doing shots of vodka. Since the Seattle Seahawks' 23-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, there has been more talk about Pro Bowl cornerback Richard Sherman's post-game comments than about the coming Super Bowl between his team and the Denver Broncos. After Sherman made his comments, the Twittersphere went bonkers - with many people referring to the Seattle cornerback as a "thug." When Sherman responded to that very label, he said this: "The only reason it bothers me is because it seems like it's the accepted way of calling somebody the N-word nowadays. It was recently reported that an Orlando man (Claudius Smith) followed, shot, and killed a young man who ran through his yard, hopped over the fence, and kept running into a neighbor's yard. Smith is hoping he won't face charges due to the infamous Stand Your Ground law. Connersville (Indiana) Police Chief David Counceller is a candidate to become Fayette County sheriff in the coming elections. What did Mr. Counceller do to help promote his candidacy? He accidentally shot himself in the leg while at a gun shop this past Saturday. Counceller explained the situation as follows: "I need to pay more attention. I know what the dangers are. It was pure carelessness on m part. ... It got tangled in my clothing. I was wearing a sweatshirt and a fleece jacket. Trying to one-up George Zimmerman, Claudius Smith of Orlando recently shot and killed 21-year-old Ricardo Sanes, who was running away from Smith. Being born in Nebraska and having lived there for 26 of my 32 years, a large majority of the people I know still reside in the Cornhusker state and keep in touch with me via Facebook. Following the Seattle Seahawks' 23-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game on Sunday night, I've been rather surprised by the number of Nebraska fans whom have harshly criticized Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman's post-game comments - going as far as to call him an a*shole, who is bound to be in a prison cell one day. I'm going to sound ancient here in a moment, but do you remember the good ol' days when our baby pictures were only shown off during the following occasions? 1. During family gatherings - Our parents would attempt to embarrass us with our childhood photo albums. Fortunately, most of the family had already seen these pictures, so our faces became increasingly desensitized to blushing with each and every such occasion. 2. High school gradation party - Not only were family members around to peruse the childhood pics, but add friends and even some teachers to that ever-growing list! After the San Francisco 49ers' 23-20 Wild-Card victory over the Green Bay Packers three Sundays ago, 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh had a few things to say about his receiver Michael Crabtree. For the game, Crabtree caught eight passes for 125 yards and was a key factor in the Niners' victory. Following his team's performance, Harbaugh said the following to the press: "People talked about cold weather and it would be a tough-to-catch ball, but the greatest catcher of all time, Michael Crabtree, catches everything. Sunday, February 2nd Game: Seattle vs. Denver Pick: Denver - This is a football lover's dream match-up right here, as it pairs off the league's best offense (Denver) with the league's best defense (Seattle). While I typically favor a great defense against a great offense, these great offenses don't typically have Peyton Manning, who, in his record-shattering season, appears to be on a mission for his second Super Bowl ring. Giving him an extra week of watching film is almost unfair for the Seahawks defense, who, in spite of their great season, haven't faced an offense nearly the caliber of Denver. I also liked how Denver's defense stepped up against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots on Sunday. The Seattle Seahawks were again unspectacular on offense, but just good enough to eek out a win against the San Francisco 49ers. Appearing on Fox News Radio's The Alan Colmes Show , South Carolina State Senator and Tea Partier voted to have the most ironic name - Lee Bright - got into the following discussion with Mr. Colmes: Colmes: "So [teachers] shouldn't have machine guns?" I'm reading and hearing a lot of complaints about Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman's post-game comments after his team defeated the San Francisco 49ers 23-17 to reach the Super Bowl. It was Sherman's deflection in the end zone late in the game which resulted in an interception and sealed the victory for the Seahawks. After the game, Sherman was fired up and had the following words for Erin Andrews: "I'm the best corner in the game! When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that's the result you're going to get! Don't you ever talk about me! ... Don't you open your mouth about the best or I'm going to shut it for you real quick!" Most of the complaints were with regard to a lack of class or sportsmanship displayed by Sherman. Allow me to introduce to you the new star of the not-very-realistic reality television show The Bachelor . His name is Juan Pablo Galavis and is just the latest centerpiece of a show which depicts the art of sleeping around to find one true love as the best possible route. Yes, when I think about setting a good example for kids, the first thing that springs to mind is this very show. Speaking of which, Mr. Galavis was recently asked if featuring a gay bachelor on the show would be a good idea or not. His response was as follows: "No... It's been a couple weeks since I last updated everyone on my writing projects (AKA books). I've finally gotten through the arrangement/organization stage in all four of them, have all but decided on titles for two of the four, and am getting close to deciding on titles for the other two as well. Starting tomorrow, I'll be going crazy with research and footnotes. I think I'll release the censored and uncensored versions of my sarcasm books together - my goal being by mid- to late-February, I'm thinking. I haven't fully decided on whether to release the two LOL at the GOP books separately or together. The Texas Governor's race is starting to get interesting, as reports have recently showed that Democrat candidate Wendy Davis outraised Republican candidate Greg Abbott last month. On a talk show earlier today, Colorado Republican district attorney and Democrat Senator Mark Udall's challenger in the coming midterms - Ken Buck - had an interesting comparison to make with regard to women's reproductive rights, when he said the following: "Yes, I am pro-life. While I understand a woman wants to be in control of her body - it's certainly the feeling that I had when I was a cancer patient. I wanted to be in control of the decisions that were made concerning my body. There is another fundamental issue at stake, and that's the life of the unborn child." I read a letter-to-the-editor in the Columbus Dispatch today, entitled, "Freedom too much for some to handle." The main point the writer was trying to make can be summed up in one line he uttered, which was that, "Some people don't actually want to be free." Being "free" is both partially wonderful and partially delusional. It's partially wonderful, because it's nice to know I can express my opinions through writing or when out in the public, or that I can practice a religion of my choosing without fear of government persecution. However, it's partially delusional, because the only time a person will be 100% "free" is at death. From birth until death, there will always be exceptions and limits to each and every freedom. There are times I'll skim through comments posted below articles. Once in a while, they'll contain decent, civilized discussions. However, such conversations seem to typically be with regard to the touchy topics of politics and religion. When it comes to sports, it's less likely to come across one of these talks than it is to discover a winning lottery ticket while drunk at a bar called "Gettin' U Sh*tfaced." While I'm a definite sports lover, I am not obsessed with any one team or player. I watch sports because I enjoy the passion, physicality, competition, and most of all, strategy and execution. I often times view sports like I would movies. The ones I enjoy the most have a good flow to them, possess an interesting plot, and leave me out of breath after an exhilarating climax. Even then, though, I often times have to roll my eyes at ESPN and the like, because like most cable news channels anymore, ESPN comes across more as a hybrid of a sports channel...

As many have heard by now, there was a very unfortunate chemical spill in West Virginia last week, which has left more than 300,000 people without safe water. They've been unable to drink water, shower with it, brush their teeth with it, use it for anything except flush the toilet. Due to a lack of such regulations in the Mountaineer state, the Elk River storage facility hadn't been inspected since 1991 - a full 23 years ago! Speaking for common sense, West Virginia Senator Jay Rockefeller (Democrat) called for tougher regulations, saying this: "Our legislature is in session, so the legislature should take action. Mikhail Kalashnikov, creator of the AK-47, seemed to express little regret over his invention throughout his years. However, a recently published letter he wrote to the head of Russia's Orthodox church not long before his death may showcase otherwise. Kalashnikov, who died last month at the age of 94, wrote the following to Patriarch Kirill: - "My spiritual pain is unbearable. I keep asking the same insoluble question. During live coverage of the Golden Globes red carpet yesterday, E! displayed this as a "fun fact": "Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991." After receiving complaints, E! came forward with an apology, saying the following: "We regret the insensitive classification of Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's diagnosis during our Eonline live stream. We understand the serious nature of the disease and sincerely apologize." Sure, sure... After the post-game BCS National Championship game wore off, it seemed as if the biggest story in the sports world this past week was with regard to Denver Broncos starting quarterback Peyton Manning and his alleged struggles (or choke jobs as some claimed) in the playoffs. With the Broncos beating the San Diego Chargers today, that improves Manning's overall playoff record to 10-11. While Manning started his career 3-6 in the playoffs, he's 7-5 since then. Tom Brady - the press' favorite quarterback, it seems - started his career 14-3 in the playoffs and is 3-4 since that time. While I think it's understandable that the press gives Tom Brady such high praise, I think they're being quite unfair to Peyton Manning. While it's true Manning's playoff numbers were inconsistent in the early part of his career, he's been quite steady over the past 5-6 years. Media reporter Gabriel Sherman is about to release a biography about Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, and due to The New York Times getting a sneak peek at the book - The Loudest Voice In The Room - it appears as if controversy is already swirling. According to Bill Carter and Julie Bosman of The New York Times , one interesting story in the book is this: "Former employees cited in the book talked of Mr. Ailes's volatile temper and domineering behavior. In one anecdote, a television producer, Randi Harrison, told Mr. Sherman that while negotiating her salary with Mr. Ailes at NBC in the 1980s, he offered her an additional $100 each week 'if you agree to have sex with me whenever I want.'" Fox News has been quick to respond, as it stated the following: "These charges are false.
