South Carolina State Senator Lee Bright shows his last name to be misleading

Appearing on Fox News Radio's The Alan Colmes Show, South Carolina State Senator and Tea Partier voted to have the most ironic name - Lee Bright - got into the following discussion with Mr. Colmes:

Colmes: "So [teachers] shouldn't have machine guns?"

Bright: "I would think a teacher protecting a school grounds should be able to carry whatever she can carry legally."

Colmes: "So should machine guns be legal to carry?"

Bright: "The Second Amendment is pretty clear. It says the right to carry arms should not be infringed. [...]"

Colmes: "So you should be able to have any gun you want?"

Bright: "Well, I don't see how the government can regulate it."

It appears as if Mr. Bright's last name is extremely misleading since he seems to be quite uneducated with regard to governmental gun regulations which are currently in place - with regard to machine guns, in particular. In 1986, Congress passed the Firearms Owners' Protection Act, which prevented the sale of machine guns to civilians after the law took effect. Also, in the 2008 District of Columbia v. Heller case, the Supreme Court ruled that the government can limit the ownership of "dangerous and unusual" weapons which aren't in "common use." With the way Mr. "not so" Bright was talking, I can envision a follow-up discussion between he and Mr. Colmes going something like this:

Colmes: "So, the last time on our show, you stated that, in order to protect students, a teacher should be allowed to carry any kind of gun he or she desires, including machine guns. Is that correct?"

Bright: "You know it is."

Colmes: "Alright, so continuing on with that topic - do you think teachers should be allowed to take rocket launchers into class?"

Bright: "I would think a teacher protecting a school grounds should be able to carry whatever she can legally."

Colmes: "So should rocket launchers be legal to carry?"

Bright: "The Second Amendment is pretty clear. It says the right to carry arms should not be infringed."

Colmes: "What about tanks? Should teachers be allowed to drive tanks to school to protect students from potential harm?"

Bright: "I would think a teacher protecting a school grounds should be able to carry whatever she can legally."

Colmes: "Alright. You've heard of the teachers union, right?"

Bright: "Kind of, but go on..."

Colmes: "Okay, so instead of the teachers forming a union, do you think it should be legal for the teachers to form an army to better protect students?"

Bright: "I would think a teacher protecting a school grounds..."

Colmes: ::interrupts him:: "Okay, I think I know how that statement will end. I think this topic and your response to it have kind of worn out their welcome. Let's talk about something else. What are your thoughts on abortion and gay marriage?"

Bright: "I would think a teacher protecting..."

Colmes: "Okay, nevermind... Let's try a different route. How was your weekend? Did you spend some time with family? Do anything fun?"

Bright: "I would think a teacher..."

Colmes: "Ugh! How about this? What's your name?"

Bright: "I would think..."

Colmes: "Obviously not! Okay, that's it! This interview is over! Good day!"

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

Trump's Lie Tally at the CNN Debate

1) "We had the greatest economy in the history of our country. We had never done so well. Every – everybody was amazed by it. Other countries were copying us." 2) "But the thing we never got the credit for, and we should have, is getting us out of that COVID mess." 3) "The only jobs he created are for illegal immigrants and bounceback jobs; they’re bounced back from the COVID." 4) "Not going to drive them higher. It’s just going to cause countries that have been ripping us off for years, like China and many others, in all fairness to China – it’s going to just force them to pay us a lot of money, reduce our deficit tremendously, and give us a lot of power for other things." (tariffs) 5) "He also said he inherited 9 percent inflation." 6) "No, he inherited almost no inflation and it stayed that way for 14 months. And then it blew up under his leadership, because they spent money like a bunch of people that didn’t know what t...
