Promoting a candidacy by shooting yourself in the leg...

Connersville (Indiana) Police Chief David Counceller is a candidate to become Fayette County sheriff in the coming elections. What did Mr. Counceller do to help promote his candidacy? He accidentally shot himself in the leg while at a gun shop this past Saturday.

Counceller explained the situation as follows:

"I need to pay more attention. I know what the dangers are. It was pure carelessness on m part. ... It got tangled in my clothing. I was wearing a sweatshirt and a fleece jacket. I felt (the gun) go in the holster and I pushed it, but it was tangled in the material which caused it to discharge. The bullet went into my leg and then into the floor. ... It's an entrance and exit wound. I'm really lucky. It doesn't even hurt. I'd have been at work (Monday) if it wasn't Martin Luther King Jr. Day. I'll be back at work on Tuesday."

To his credit, Police Chief Counceller had a good attitude and sense of humor about the incident, as he also said this:

"If anyone says this could never happen to them, they're mistaken. You have to keep your guard up at all times. Some candidates are out there doing things for kids to try to get elected. Me, I shoot myself. What a way to get publicity."

In light of this event, Police Chief Counceller is rumored to be working with rock legend Pat Benatar on getting permission to play her classic song "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" when he makes his first appearance at all of his scheduled events - that or he'll begin every speech with, "Hey everyone. Thanks for coming. Don't worry - you can come closer. I'm unarmed."

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

Other countries were copying us." 2) "But the thing we never got the credit for, and we should have, is getting us out of that COVID mess." 3) "The only jobs he created are for illegal immigrants and bounceback jobs; they’re bounced back from the COVID." 4) "Not going to drive them higher. It’s just going to cause countries that have been ripping us off for years, like China and many others, in all fairness to China – it’s going to just force them to pay us a lot of money, reduce our deficit tremendously, and give us a lot of power for other things." And then it blew up under his leadership, because they spent money like a bunch of people that didn’t know what t...
