"We just want to leave a better life for our kids than we were left with." - Eh, no you don't...

It kind of cracks me up to hear so many far-right conservatives say something along the following lines in the run up to the midterm elections:

"We just want to leave a better life for our kids and future generations than we were left with, and we'll do everything in our power to achieve that."

Say what? The GOP seriously wants us to believe they care about future generations? Based on their voting records and talking points, this is how such ads should probably run:

"We just want to leave a better life for our kids and future generations than we were left with, and we'll do everything in our power to achieve that. From not taking action on global warming and leaving future generations more apt to being victims of severe flooding and other disastrous weather, to not passing more gun restrictions to lessen the chance of firearms getting into the hands of dangerous individuals, it's really all about keeping the kids safe in their future. From decreasing funding for schools and decreasing the effectiveness of them in the process, to increasing tuition costs for colleges and leaving youngsters less likely to attend them, what we're about is improving these children's education and futures. From decreasing taxes for billionaires and providing them more loopholes than we can count, to believing the trickle-down effect works and expanding the pay gap more than at any point since the Great Depression, we want the kids to know we've got their backs on their futures, so long as they come from wealthy families. From not believing in universal healthcare, to believing we have the best healthcare system in the world even though it's been proven otherwise through studies, especially when it comes to costs, it seems pretty obvious we've got the kids' futures and well-being in mind here. From not believing women should be paid equally for equal work and shouldn't be afforded the right to an abortion if they're raped, to thinking gays should not be able to wed the ones they love, even if they've been together for 30 years, we think we've proven we want what's best for our daughters and also for young gay people's futures. Through all this and believing we should make it harder for young people to vote, we still want them to go overseas and fight the battles we deem necessary, to sacrifice themselves for the sake of our big egos and aging limp d*cks, and if this doesn't prove we simply want to leave a better life for our kids and future generations, we don't know what will. This is the Republican Party and we approve this message."

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

Trump's Lie Tally at the CNN Debate

1) "We had the greatest economy in the history of our country. We had never done so well. Every – everybody was amazed by it. Other countries were copying us." 2) "But the thing we never got the credit for, and we should have, is getting us out of that COVID mess." 3) "The only jobs he created are for illegal immigrants and bounceback jobs; they’re bounced back from the COVID." 4) "Not going to drive them higher. It’s just going to cause countries that have been ripping us off for years, like China and many others, in all fairness to China – it’s going to just force them to pay us a lot of money, reduce our deficit tremendously, and give us a lot of power for other things." (tariffs) 5) "He also said he inherited 9 percent inflation." 6) "No, he inherited almost no inflation and it stayed that way for 14 months. And then it blew up under his leadership, because they spent money like a bunch of people that didn’t know what t...
