E.W. Jackson believes the Democratic Party is an anti-God and anti-family party

Virginia Republican lieutenant governor nominee E.W. Jackson is at it again - talking crazy. On a radio show with WLEE host Jack Gravely, the host asked Jackson if he still felt that believing in God and voting Democratic were fundamentally incompatible, as Jackson was quoted as saying previously. They then engaged in the following back-and-forth:

Gravely: "You are saying for us, we're all wrong, leave that party. And all I'm saying to you is, if you said it before, you still have to believe it, why did you say it?"

Jackson: "Oh, oh, oh I do believe it. I said it because that the Democrat Party has become an anti-God party, I think it's an anti-life party, I think it's an anti-family party. And these are all things I think Christians hold to very dearly."

While I'm not a religious person and definitely know a larger percentage of such individuals whom are Democrats than Republicans, I still think Jackson's statement was ridiculous, and that's being kind.

I seriously wonder what Bible many of these far-right Republicans are reading. Perhaps Pat Robertson, Rush Limbaugh, and Donald Trump got together one day, wrote an edited version of the Bible, and passed it around to churches in the most conservative parts of the country. Some of the edited passages probably are:

- “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me. Just kidding. Screw the poor! Keep everything for yourselves and then come follow me! So, who wants to drink martinis while playing golf on a yacht?"

- "...and Jesus said to them, 'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Oh, she had an abortion? Give me the biggest rock! I'll chuck it at her myself! That cold-blooded b*tch!"

- "Love thy neighbor as thyself, unless the person is one of the gays. If that's the case, stay far, far away and try not to ever make eye contact with the person, or else you could get AIDS."

- "But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. If he slaps that cheek, turn around and blow him away with a semi-automatic rifle."

Yeah, apparently because Democrats tend to believe in: Equality for all, providing aid for the poor, and strengthening gun laws, they're definitely the anti-God, anti-family party. If they focused more on providing tax cuts for the wealthy than aiding the poor and of denying certain groups of people equal rights like the Republican Party has done, then perhaps they could be seen as a party of God. If they worked to loosen gun laws like the Republican Party has done, and more school shootings like the one in Newtown, Connecticut resulted, then perhaps they could be seen as a party of the family. Perhaps E.W. Jackson should ask the families of the 20 6- and 7-year olds who were killed in Newtown that day which party they feel is more anti-family - the one that is trying to make it more difficult for such shootings to occur or the one that is trying to make it easier.

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

Face guarding is legal in college football and the NFL

I just wanted to remind fans and announcers especially, that face guarding is legal in both college football and the NFL. It all comes down to contact. So long as a defender doesn't make contact with an intended receiver, he doesn't have to turn around to play the ball. I can't tell you how many times every week I hear announcers talk about face guarding being a penalty. It's not. I even heard one announcer yesterday state, "If the defender doesn't turn around and play the ball, the ref will call pass interference every time." That's simply not true. Courtesy of referee Bill LeMonnier, he says this with regard to the rule at the college level (answered on 8/12/13): "NCAA rules on pass interference require the face guarding to have contact to be a foul. No contact, no foul by NCAA rules." In the NFL rule book, this is written:  "Actions that constitute defensive pass interference include but are not limited to: (a) Contact by a ...
