Former Pastor David Barton says FU to Starbucks (figuratively speaking)

Pretty soon, I have a feeling Christian extremists are going to spend most all of their leisure time at Chic-fil-A, and will be soon disappointed that the restaurant doesn't provide them with things such as gas, groceries, medication, dating material, etc. The reason I say this is due to what former pastor and current psycho David Barton recently stated in a sermon at Whitesburg Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama, where he said:

"Starbucks is pouring all this money into destroying traditional marriage. The question is, can a Christian give money to a group he knows will use it to attack what God supports. If you know that when you buy a cup of Starbucks, 5, 10, 15 cents is going to be used to defeat marriage, cand you do that? The answer is no.

Biblically, there's no way a Christian can help support what is attacking God. I'm sorry, you've got to find some other coffee to drink. You can't drink Starbucks and be Biblically correct on this thing. It's just a real simple principle."

That's the only issue that matters to Mr. Barton, eh? Do you know what that makes me think? He doth protest a little too much. Perhaps he's hiding something. Perhaps Mr. Barton has a thing for Mr. Starbucks and yes, I mean that both literally and figuratively.

People like David Barton make absolutely no sense to me. The verse(s) he's referring to took place in the Old Testament. If he truly believes the story told in the Bible, shouldn't he kind of get past that Old Testament and progress onward to the New Testament? If he truly believes Jesus died for our sins, rose from the dead, and is our savior, he should probably stop reverting back to Old Testament scripture to try and justify his outdated beliefs. Often times, I feel such individuals revert to Old Testament scripture only to justify prejudices. Women shouldn't be treated equally? Just look in the Old Testament. Gays shouldn't be treated equally? Just look in the Old Testament. If David Barton really wants to travel this route, he should at least stay consistent. So, he's going to protest against Starbucks and any place that publicly supports gay marriage, because it's a supposed attack against God? Alright, well, what about eating meat? Dishonesty? Adulterers? Etc.? Will he quiz every corporation head and ask if they've ever told a lie, if they support the eating of meat and if they do so themselves, etc.? I highly doubt it. He's only focusing his time and attention on the issue that is gay marriage, and claiming it's an attack against what God supports for anyone to support it. Oh? Does he know this? Has he spoken to God personally? Did he write the Bible? No? So, he's speaking for God without knowing for certain if he's accurate in his claims or not? In other words, he's potentially lying when speaking for God? Oh, I'm sure that's not sinful behavior at all. That's excusable, so long as gays don't attain equal marriage rights which won't in any way impact marriages for heterosexual couples.

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

The difference between "looking" and "checking out"

I may be way off with these numbers, but it's my approximation that at least 75% of individuals whom are involved in a serious relationship feel it's perfectly acceptable to "check out" members of the opposite sex they're not involved with. Meanwhile, approximately 25% either don't feel this is acceptable or aren't sure about the matter. I hadn't thought about this matter for a while, but since I've been dating a woman for about 8 months, the topic has been pondered about some. When reading or hearing others discuss this very issue, I often times hear comments similar to the following: "It's human nature to look." "There's nothing wrong with checking others out. I'm sure he/she does it too!" "It's fine to do it. Just don't tell your boyfriend/girlfriend about it or do it in front of them!" "It's natural to find people attractive." When observing the array of comments, I i...
