According to a Facebook post, a liberal paradise = prison

Last night, I came across yet another lovely political post on Facebook. It was a picture of a prison, with the following written underneath it:

"PRISONS

- Everyone is treated equally
- Free food
- Free medical / healthcare
- Only the police and guards have guns

LIBERAL PARADISE"

This post is completely ludicrous. Ask any liberal what their idea of paradise is and I can guarantee you they won't respond with, "Prison."

First off, the post makes it appear as if treating everyone equally is a bad thing. Eh, since when? So treating people as equals, providing people with equal rights and opportunities outside of prison is identical to treating people like identical numbers, with minimal rights and opportunities inside a prison? I'm sorry, but that comparison is laughable, it's so awful.

Next we have free food and medical care. Yes, prison food is known as being of the highest quality. Whenever I get asked by family where I'd like to go eat for my birthday, without hesitating, I respond with, "Let's eat at the prison again!" Then free medical care? There is quite a stark difference between liberals supporting universal healthcare and a public option in an attempt to lower healthcare costs which would benefit most everyone and liberals supporting "free" healthcare, which isn't really feasible for a country. So once again, the post is off base with these two comparisons as well.

Lastly, the post says, "only the police and guards have guns." Ah, back to the gun control debate, are we? Let's look at the vast difference between most liberals' viewpoint on gun rights and what this post contends. A strong majority of self-described liberals support mandatory background checks on any and all gun purchases (in line with approximately 90% of the country). Many also support the banning of assault rifles and of purchasing guns off the internet (a majority of the country agrees with these two pieces of gun control legislation as well). In other words, most liberals are fine with law-abiding citizens (even those whom aren't cops or guards at a prison) owning guns, so long as they're not assault rifles. This post contends that it's rare for liberals to ever believe any kind of citizen, law-abiding or not, should own guns. Yet again, this comparison is way off base.

The post may seem funny at first to some, but if we actually think about what it contends, it's further from reality than rock stars simultaneously doing coke, heroin, and acid while watching a David Lynch film.

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun...

Face guarding is legal in college football and the NFL

I just wanted to remind fans and announcers especially, that face guarding is legal in both college football and the NFL. It all comes down to contact. So long as a defender doesn't make contact with an intended receiver, he doesn't have to turn around to play the ball. I can't tell you how many times every week I hear announcers talk about face guarding being a penalty. It's not. I even heard one announcer yesterday state, "If the defender doesn't turn around and play the ball, the ref will call pass interference every time." That's simply not true. Courtesy of referee Bill LeMonnier, he says this with regard to the rule at the college level (answered on 8/12/13): "NCAA rules on pass interference require the face guarding to have contact to be a foul. No contact, no foul by NCAA rules." In the NFL rule book, this is written:  "Actions that constitute defensive pass interference include but are not limited to: (a) Contact by a ...
