Even with all the crazy things he's said in the past, 2016 Republican front-runner Donald Trump still continues to amaze me with the words which emanate from his mouth.
In a recent Rolling Stone article regarding Trump, when the businessman saw fellow GOP candidate Carly Fiorina on television, he remarked, "Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president. I mean, she's a woman, and I'm not supposed to say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?"
After receiving the inevitable backlash following the article's publication, Trump responded by saying the following to CNN's Chris Cuomo on New Day:
"I'm not talking about her looks. I'm talking about her persona."
That's right. Let's look at that again, shall we?
Trump's initial comment: "Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president. I mean, she's a woman, and I'm not supposed to say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?"
Trump's follow-up comment: "I'm not talking about her looks. I'm talking about her persona."
So, I guess Trump temporarily mistook the words face and persona for one another, eh? When Ms. Fiorina appeared on the television, what Trump really meant to say was, "Look at that persona! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the persona of our next president. I mean, she's a woman, and I'm not supposed to say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?"
Riiight...
Given that explanation, expect Donald Trump to make these comments and follow-up statements in the coming weeks and months:
Initial comment: "That Mexican looks creepy, but what else is new?"
Follow-up comment: "Come on, do you really think I meant it like that? Are you really that stupid? What I was really saying was I know this Mexican dude who has the last name Creepy and it just reminded me of him. That's it; that's all. Got it? Understand? Capisce-o?"
Initial comment: "Not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims. Wait, I take that back, all Muslims are terrorists."
Follow-up comment: "My quote was taken completely out of context. One of my best friends is Muslim. His name is something like Mohammed Abdul Allah Jaboo Daboo Doodah. I don't know; I'll have to ask him again. Great guy, great guy, and no, not a terrorist. So, I mean, there's at least one that's not."
Initial comment: "Holy sh*t; she's fat!"
Follow-up comment: "Look, you losers, I wasn't talking about her weight, her figure, her whatever; I was talking about the size of her heart and brain and sh*t."
