Mike Ditka should stick to football...

Former Chicago Bears head coach and current ESPN NFL analyst, Mike Ditka, recently spoke on The Bernie & Sid Show, and had some unflattering words for President Barack Obama, claiming he's "the worst president we've ever had," adding:

"Barack Obama's a fine man. I mean, he's pleasant. He would be great to play golf with. He's not a leader. This country needs leadership. It needs direction. It needs somebody that steps up front. We need somebody like Ronald Reagan. Every once in a while you're gonna get punched in the chops but you keep going forward. That's all there is to it."

He also said this:

"The people that hate him (Trump), hate him, but people like him because he says things that resonate with what they think. If I were to vote tomorrow, I'd probably vote for Trump."

Yes, apparently Mike Ditka, like many modern-day Republicans, sees the president as a fictional superhero as opposed to an actual person. This mentality appears to be consistent when it comes to his grasp (or lack there of) of history and numbers. It'd be one thing for the former Bears head coach to say President Obama has been a disappointed while in the Oval Office; it's quite another to lay claim he's the worst president in this country's history.

Given Ditka's love of football and analyzing numbers affiliated with the sport, allow me to provide him with a few in relation to the previous two presidents, Barack Obama and George W. Bush:

Unemployment rate
Bush (when he left office): 7.8%
Obama (currently): 4.9%

Uninsured rate
Bush: 14%
Obama: 9.2%

Teen pregnancy rates
Bush: 40.2 p/1,000
Obama: 25.6 p/1,000

GDP growth
Bush: -.03%
Obama: +3.7%

Dow Jones
Bush: $8,281
Obama: $17,000+

Abortions
Bush: 19.6 p/1,000
Obama: 17 /1,000

Troops deployed
Bush: 186,000
Obama: 31,320

Consumer confidence
Bush: 25
Obama: 94.6

Not only that, but as of January 2016, FactCheck.org reported the following numbers:

- "Homicides have dropped 13 percent since Obama took office"

- "The economy has added more than 9 million jobs"

- "The number of long-term unemployed Americans has dropped by 614,000 under Obama"

- "Corporate profits are up 166 percent; real weekly wages are up 3.4 percent"

- "There are 15 million fewer people who lack health insurance"

- "Wind and solar power have nearly tripled, and now account for more than 5 percent of U.S. electricity"

I dare Mike Ditka to look at all of those numbers and to then look me in the eyes and say with a straight face, "Barack Obama is the worst president in our history, even worse than George W. Bush." If he's able to do that, I'll be forced to ask where the closest loony bin is located and immediately take him there...

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun

The difference between "looking" and "checking out"

I may be way off with these numbers, but it's my approximation that at least 75% of individuals whom are involved in a serious relationship feel it's perfectly acceptable to "check out" members of the opposite sex they're not involved with. Meanwhile, approximately 25% either don't feel this is acceptable or aren't sure about the matter. I hadn't thought about this matter for a while, but since I've been dating a woman for about 8 months, the topic has been pondered about some. When reading or hearing others discuss this very issue, I often times hear comments similar to the following: "It's human nature to look." "There's nothing wrong with checking others out. I'm sure he/she does it too!" "It's fine to do it. Just don't tell your boyfriend/girlfriend about it or do it in front of them!" "It's natural to find people attractive." When observing the array of comments, I i

The verdict is in. To no one's surprise, Jonathan Hoenig has been found guilty of being an idiot.

Just recently, when discussing the Michael Brown shooting and whether or not race had anything to do with it, Fox News contributor Jonathan Hoenig said, "You know who talks about race? Racists." One moment while I provide Mr. Hoenig with the well deserved slow-clap. :: slow-claps for two seconds :: So, that was quite the line by Mr. Hoenig, wasn't it? "You know who talks about race? Racists." Well, wasn't he just talking about race? So, by his own words, I guess that makes him a racist. Also, if he wants to be consistent, does this mean that people whom talk about gender are sexists and people whom talk about sexual orientation are homophobes? With that line of thinking, Hoenig would engage in the following back-and-forths: Hoenig: "So, who are you voting for?" A woman: "The Democratic candidate, because he's been adamant about his support for equal rights for women." Hoenig: "You sexist feminist nazi!"
