My Book Ranks

Well, I just checked out the main site where my books are being distributed (Lulu.com) and am hoping the trend continues.

My first book, "Seasons Come, People Grow: A Poetic Journey" (2006), is currently ranked in the top 60,000 (57,273). To my surprise, it's sold a couple copies here in the past week, 5 years after it was published.

My second book, "The Serious Scale of Sarcasm: More Balanced Than a Drunken High-Heeled Clown On a Tight Rope" (2007), is in the top 40,000 (39,817) and a copy was purchased just yesterday.

My two most recent efforts have got some catching up to do, but were just published a couple weeks ago and I still have a lot of work to do to spread word about them. At this current juncture, however, "The Kind-Hearted Smart Aleck (censored version)" is ranked at 149,055 and "The Kind-Hearted Smarta*s (uncensored version)" is ranked 119,862.

I'm wanting to keep this improved-ranking trend going. If the paperback copies are a bit too much, it's much cheaper to download.

Right now, the cheapest option(s) is at Lulu.com, because of a coupon code I found for it, which takes 20% off the total price. I'll attempt to find such coupon codes where the book(s) is(are) available, but for the time being, I only know of the one at lulu.com.

The coupon code is: 2011SURVEY (also, I didn't seen an expiration date, so I haven't a clue as to when that is. I could guess, but don't have my tarot cards with me at the moment, so I am not feeling very confident about my prediction. If this doesn't work, I have access to another code for 15% off. The code for that is MYBOOK305 and expires on August 15th). To do this, just before clicking to place the order, type in the coupon code in the box just below the price of the order and then click on "update total" just below the coupon code box.

With the 20% off, the books will cost the following:

The Kind-Hearted Smartass (download): $2.88

The Kind-Hearted Smart Aleck (download): $2.56

Seasons Come, People Grow: A Poetic Journey (download): $1.76

The Serious Scale Of Sarcasm: More Balanced Than a Drunken High-Heeled Clown On a Tight Rope (download): $2.08

Heck, if you were to buy 3 of the 4 (either the censored or uncensored version of my new book), it'd cost you a combined $6.72 (with the uncensored version) and $6.40 (with the censored version). Also, there's no shipping fee for downloading the book(s). So, three books at under $7 total! Not too shabby, if I do say so myself (...and I just did).

Anyway, I sincerely hope to start garnering more interest, have help spreading the word and hopefully garner some attention with good book sales and reviews.

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun

The difference between "looking" and "checking out"

I may be way off with these numbers, but it's my approximation that at least 75% of individuals whom are involved in a serious relationship feel it's perfectly acceptable to "check out" members of the opposite sex they're not involved with. Meanwhile, approximately 25% either don't feel this is acceptable or aren't sure about the matter. I hadn't thought about this matter for a while, but since I've been dating a woman for about 8 months, the topic has been pondered about some. When reading or hearing others discuss this very issue, I often times hear comments similar to the following: "It's human nature to look." "There's nothing wrong with checking others out. I'm sure he/she does it too!" "It's fine to do it. Just don't tell your boyfriend/girlfriend about it or do it in front of them!" "It's natural to find people attractive." When observing the array of comments, I i

The verdict is in. To no one's surprise, Jonathan Hoenig has been found guilty of being an idiot.

Just recently, when discussing the Michael Brown shooting and whether or not race had anything to do with it, Fox News contributor Jonathan Hoenig said, "You know who talks about race? Racists." One moment while I provide Mr. Hoenig with the well deserved slow-clap. :: slow-claps for two seconds :: So, that was quite the line by Mr. Hoenig, wasn't it? "You know who talks about race? Racists." Well, wasn't he just talking about race? So, by his own words, I guess that makes him a racist. Also, if he wants to be consistent, does this mean that people whom talk about gender are sexists and people whom talk about sexual orientation are homophobes? With that line of thinking, Hoenig would engage in the following back-and-forths: Hoenig: "So, who are you voting for?" A woman: "The Democratic candidate, because he's been adamant about his support for equal rights for women." Hoenig: "You sexist feminist nazi!"
