Allow me to introduce everyone to Jo Jordan. Ms. Jordan is a Hawaii state Representative, is a lesbian, and is the first openly gay lawmaker to vote against marriage equality.
Before casting her "nay" vote, she admitted to being uncertain, because according to her, it was her duty to not only represent her constituents, but the whole state on the matter of gay marriage. I'm not entirely certain what poll she was looking at, because 55% of the state supports the legalization of gay marriage, but in any case, that's neither here nor there. Representative Jordan is a lesbian and voted against being treated as an equal. While she's at it, she may want to make the following votes:
- Vote against equal pay for women
- Vote to defund Planned Parenthood
- Vote to take away women's voting rights
There are many votes I don't understand. A Democratic lesbian woman voting against equal marriage rights for gays may very well be the vote I understand the least.
