Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has had a bit of a rough week. On not one, but two separate occasions this past week, the Senator has faced plagiarism allegations. In light of this, Senator Paul may have to try and improve his image by releasing a rather personal ad (no, not for dating). It will probably go a little something like this:
"Hello. I'm Randal Howard 'Rand' Paul, was born on January 7th of 1963, and am the junior United States Senator for Kentucky. I'm a member of the Republican Party, am the son of former U.S. Representative and presidential candidate Ron Paul of Texas. I first received national attention in 2008 when making political speeches on behalf of my father, who was campaigning for the Republican Party's nomination for president. I am the first senator to have served simultaneously with a parent in the United States House of Representatives.
Recently, I've been accused of plagiarism, which is an act or instance of using or closely imitating the language and thoughts of another author without authorization and the representation of that author's work as one's own, as by not crediting the original author. An example of this might be, 'It is said that he plagiarized Thoreau's plagiarism of a line written by Montaigne.'
Look, I make mistakes, for I'm human. I'm a Homo sapien - the species to which all modern human beings belong. Homo sapiens is one of several species grouped into the genus Homo, but it is the only one that is not extinct.
Regardless, though, I'd like to apologize for my recent actions - to offer an apology or excuse for some fault, insult, failure, or injury, and ask for your forgiveness - for if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."
