(Bo) Pelini's Playhouse, where the word of the day is always f**k

Nebraska head football coach Bo Pelini has never been known as a smooth-talker and has not been very coy about screaming obscenities while on the sidelines during games. Even with this almost drunken sailor-esque reputation, however, Pelini's recently reported tirade surprised me, and in light of it and the team's defensive woes, I think I'd be equally as surprised to see him last past this season as the Huskers' head coach.

Following a comeback victory against Ohio State in Lincoln on October 8th of 2011, and just preceding an interview with Greg Sharpe of the Husker Sports Network, Pelini was recorded saying the following:

"F**k him, too (World-Herald columnist Tom Shatel). F**k him. That's what I'm going to tell him. He wants to walk out after my press conference? I'm gonna say, 'Get the f**k away from me. I'm done with you, motherf**ker. I'm done with him."

and

"It took everything in my power to not say, 'F**k you, fans. F**k all of you.' F** 'em. Our crowd. What a bunch of f**king fair-weather f**king - they can all kiss my ass out the f**king door. 'Cause the day is f**king coming now. We'll see what they can do when I'm f**king gone. I'm so f**king pissed off."

I think Pelini would be able to get away with this if the tirade had just been focused on Tom Shatel and the media, and also if his defense hadn't allowed 190 points in four of the team's previous five games (1-3 in those contests). However, in going after the fans like he did, I have a difficult time believing he'll make it past this season as head coach of the team.

I was born and raised in Nebraska. I've never been a die-hard fan of any college football team, so I couldn't really care less whether or not the Huskers won on any given Saturday. However, while I'll be the first to admit, that like with most every sports team, the Huskers have their share of fair-weather fans, the people in that state love their football and love their Cornhuskers. Memorial Stadium in Lincoln has sold out every Huskers home game since November 3rd of 1962. Huskers fans are also often times referred to as some of the classiest in the country. What Bo Pelini said with regard to them was highly inappropriate, unprofessional, immature, and uncalled for.

After this news hit, I read multiple Huskers fans defend Pelini's tirade, saying, "We get pissed at him and let him have it sometimes too! It's only fair that he can say similar things about the fans!"

If it weren't for Nebraska fans, Pelini wouldn't have the job he has. It's not a very wise move to bite the hand that feeds you, and then to expect that hand to keep feeding you. It would really be quite something if the fans responded by not selling out a home game for the first time in almost 51 years. That action would speak much more loudly than Bo's tirade.

I was on the fence about whether or not this should be Pelini's last season as head coach of Nebraska, but this rant just sealed the deal in my mind. Just imagine if every person in the spotlight acted in such a manner toward his or her fans. Can you really imagine an actor, who just received an Oscar, giving the following speech in honor of it?

"Thank you. This really is a dream come true for me. I hold up this trophy as a f**k you symbol. F**k you to all the people who said I'd never amount to anything! F**k you to the people who got in my way of achieving my dream! ...and f**k you to all my fans - for not liking every picture I starred in and didn't even see them all! F**k fair-weather fans like you! Yeah - f**k you! Oh, and this also goes out to world peace. God bless. Thank you."

I don't think so...

Boycotting jukeboxes because of TouchTunes

I love music and enjoy hitting the bar(s) over the weekend, so naturally, when the mood strikes me, I've never been coy about playing some songs on the jukebox. This past Thursday, a friend of mine turned 50, so several friends of her's, including myself, all met up to celebrate the occasion. At around 9:30, a friend of mine and I both chipped in $5 to play some songs on the jukebox. Four hours and 231 skips later, we gave up on hearing the songs we had selected, and went home knowing we had just wasted $5. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened to me (and many others), and due to that, I'll be boycotting jukeboxes. Why? The scam known as TouchTunes. You see, here's how the plot typically breaks down. A person (or group of people) downloads the TouchTunes app on his/her phone, consumes one too many adult beverages, and due to this, has less care for spending extra money to hear the songs of their choosing right NOW. That's the thing with TouchTun

The difference between "looking" and "checking out"

I may be way off with these numbers, but it's my approximation that at least 75% of individuals whom are involved in a serious relationship feel it's perfectly acceptable to "check out" members of the opposite sex they're not involved with. Meanwhile, approximately 25% either don't feel this is acceptable or aren't sure about the matter. I hadn't thought about this matter for a while, but since I've been dating a woman for about 8 months, the topic has been pondered about some. When reading or hearing others discuss this very issue, I often times hear comments similar to the following: "It's human nature to look." "There's nothing wrong with checking others out. I'm sure he/she does it too!" "It's fine to do it. Just don't tell your boyfriend/girlfriend about it or do it in front of them!" "It's natural to find people attractive." When observing the array of comments, I i

The verdict is in. To no one's surprise, Jonathan Hoenig has been found guilty of being an idiot.

Just recently, when discussing the Michael Brown shooting and whether or not race had anything to do with it, Fox News contributor Jonathan Hoenig said, "You know who talks about race? Racists." One moment while I provide Mr. Hoenig with the well deserved slow-clap. :: slow-claps for two seconds :: So, that was quite the line by Mr. Hoenig, wasn't it? "You know who talks about race? Racists." Well, wasn't he just talking about race? So, by his own words, I guess that makes him a racist. Also, if he wants to be consistent, does this mean that people whom talk about gender are sexists and people whom talk about sexual orientation are homophobes? With that line of thinking, Hoenig would engage in the following back-and-forths: Hoenig: "So, who are you voting for?" A woman: "The Democratic candidate, because he's been adamant about his support for equal rights for women." Hoenig: "You sexist feminist nazi!"
