What is it with the insult, "Get out of your mom's basement!"? I've heard this line thrown at people whom didn't even live at home.
My two questions pertaining to this line are: 1) Why is it always the mom? and 2) Why is it always in her basement?
Is there something a little more insulting about a son or daughter moving in with their mother as opposed to father? Brother? Uncle? Doppelganger? Former mistress named Stella? Also, what is it with the basement? In my opinion, there are several other potential moves which would make for worse insults than, "Get out of your mom's basement!," such as the following:
- "Get out of your dad's station-wagon!"
- "Get out of brother's bunk-bed!"
- "Get out of your sister's attic!"
- "Get out of your grandparent's garage!"
- "Get out of George W. Bush's head!"
- "Get out of that bum's box!"
A mother's basement doesn't sound so bad anymore, does it?
