Michelle Bachmann calls for a national prayer day on 9/11. Yeah, that's going to do a lot of good...
Republican Minnesota Representative and person voted most likely to need an exorcism in the next year - Michelle Bachmann - has called on the nation to join together in a "National Day of Prayer and Fasting" on September 11th.
Bachmann said, "Our nation has seen judgment not once but twice on September 11 and that's why we're going to have a '9-11 Pray' on that day. Is there anything better that we can do on that day rather than to humble ourselves and to pray to an almighty God?"
I'm not going to come out and suggest Ms. Bachmann is either right or wrong in her beliefs, because I can't objectively do that, regardless of her beliefs. However, just those two sentences she constructed make me laugh some, because they don't make a lot of sense, especially when placed in such a close proximity to one another.
Bachmann refers to God as "almighty" or omnipotent (all-powerful), yet also contends that the United States has been "judged" twice on September 11th. In other words, she's either insinuating God isn't almighty as she had stated, or that he is almighty, but due to our sinful ways perhaps, punished us twice on 9/11.
This poses at least two problems: 1) God isn't almighty, so why would someone believe in and worship an entity who lacked omnipotence? and 2) God is evil, so why on earth would anyone believe in and worship an evil being?
How about instead of praying to an invisible being on September 11th, hoping another 9/11 won't occur, we actually improve our foreign relations, to better prevent such events from happening again? Perhaps Ms. Bachmann should leave office, to make room for another representative, who will actually try to get things done before September 11th to prevent another attack on that day, while Bachmann can pray all she wants in the confines of her own home. Yes, that may have been a prayer in and of itself. ::long pause:: Amen.
