In defense of Kevin Hart and Ellen DeGeneres...

Empire star Jussie Smollett, who recently came out as gay, was attacked in what is being investigated as a hate-crime. The two attackers allegedly yelled racist and homophobic slurs toward Smollett, as well as "MAGA country!" They apparently wrapped a noose around the actor's neck and poured an "unknown chemical substance" on him. In response to this sad, disturbing, and horrifying incident, comedian Kevin Hart posted this tweet: "Sending prayers your way @jussiesmollett .... This is unbelievably sad. Why are we going backwards....this is disgusting. We as a people have to do better. WTF is going on the world???? Why are we falling in love with hate???? God damn it people....Choose love...i repeat...Choose love. I will forever choose love and I will continue to teach my kids how to do the same. Offering to remove the stick from Ellen bashers' rears...

The intentions behind political correctness are good, and in my opinion, the benefits outweigh the hindrances. In saying that, however, there are times the PC-police go too far, and at no time is that more evident than in a recent event surrounding Ellen Degeneres. Actress, comedian, and talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres, recently posted a happy birthday tweet to her friend Katy Perry's page. The tweet read, "Happy birthday, #KatyPerry! To my surprise, there were a number of complaints made regarding Ellen's tweet. Piers Morgan responded, "If a man made this joke, Ellen would lead the cries of 'SEXIST PIG!'" Michael Rapaport echoed those sentiments, as he tweeted, "Imagine if Cam Newton or any other Man sent out this tweet & photo." A t...

Standing up for Ellen DeGeneres

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has come under recent fire for a tweet she posted of herself riding on the back of the fastest man in the world, Olympic gold medal regular Usain Bolt, with the caption, "This is how I'm running errands from now on." This led to her getting blasted on Twitter, as many proclaimed her post to be racist. I'm sorry, but this is another example of the PC-police going too far. I'm typically all for political correctness, as I think every person, regardless of their age, gender, skin color, creed, or orientation, should be treated with respect. However, when a joke is at the expense of a person's actions and not their race, yet we find a way to insert race into the equation, that's political correctness gone too far. The common denominator in this post was the athlete's speed, not his/her race. Usain Bolt is an incredible runner, arguably the best in the world, and after he won his 3rd consecutive gold medal in the 100 meter, ...
