While, overall, I think political correctness is a good thing, there are times I think the PC-police go too far, especially when it comes to comedy. I find it odd that while a man (Donald Trump) can get elected president after being caught talking about grabbing women by the pus*y, a comedian (Kathy Griffin) can be seen as losing her career after telling an un-PC joke. I'm not saying her joke was morally right or anything of the sort, but I think there is a double-standard in place, and it's quite sad that we often times hold jokesters more accountable for their actions than we do leaders of this country. Having said all that, I think the PC-police have gone a little far in recent days with regard to jokes told by Chelsea Handler and Marilyn Manson. I'll start with Manson. Former Italy soccer coach Arrigo Sacchi has found himself in hot water due to some controversial comments he recently made while speaking at an awards ceremony, where he said following: "I'm certainly not racist and my history as a coach demonstrates that ... but look at the Viareggio [youth] tournament I would say that there are too many black players. Italy has no dignity, no pride. It should not be possible that our teams should have 15 foreign players in the squad." After facing the inevitable backlash from his comments, Sacchi attempted to clarify his remarks by speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport  and saying this: "I have been misrepresented, how could I be racist? I just said I saw a game featuring a team who fielded four coloured boys. My history speaks for itself, I always coached teams with different colours and I bought many, both at Milan and at Madrid. Chris Nogy, husband of Benton County (Arkansas) GOP secretary Leigh Nogy, had a few interesting things to write in the April edition of the Benton County Republican Party newsletter concerning GOP state legislators whom voted to expand Medicaid in the state. In this newsletter, Nogy wrote: "So what do we do? While I believe that we as a party are done in Arkansas after this, if there is ANY hope of our survival, it is going to take not being forgiving. Not only for past actions, but to show those who will come in the future that the cost of failure to do the thing they were elected to do will be significant. Not long ago, so-called up-and-comer of the Republican Party - Dr. Ben Carson - appeared on Fox News' The Sean Hannity Show , when he made his following thoughts known about gay-marriage equality: "Well, my thoughts are that marriage is between a man and a woman. It's a well-established, fundamental pillar of society and no group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association AKA pedophiles), be they people who believe in bestiality. It doesn't matter what they are. They don't get to change the definition. So he, it's not something that is against gays, it's against anybody who wants to come along and change the fundamental definitions of pillars of society. It has significant ramifications." As much as I like the guy, Vice President Joe Biden makes more gaffes than I wash my hands and for the record, I'm a little anal-retentive about that. During a speech in Charlotte, North Carolina yesterday, Biden said the following: "This is deadly earnest. How they (Romney/Ryan) can justify...raising taxes on the middle class that has been buried the last four years? How in the Lord's name can they justify raising their taxes and these tax cuts? We've seen this movie before - massive tax cuts for the wealthy, eliminating restrictions on Wall Street, let the banks write their own rules. We know where it ends. It ends in the catastrophe of the middle class and the Great Recession of 2008. Folks, we cannot go back to that. The president and I have a different way forward."
