Sometimes I wonder if I was born in the wrong year or perhaps born on the wrong planet. Selfies, duck-faces, planking, fake mustaches, and other such trends, I just can't get into. Now, if an actual duck took a selfie of himself with a fake mustache on while planking, then I might be interested in seeing that picture. Reality television doesn't tickle my fancy. Neither does cable news or a good portion of talk radio. Yes, perhaps I'm a bit old school. Speaking of which, I didn't own a smart phone (I believe it has average intelligence most days, but that's just me) until two or three years ago. Even now, I only use the thing to call friends, answer calls, perhaps check email if I'm out and about, or play a word game or two. That's right - I don't text. I know what you're thinking... I had received so many requests to play the game Candy Crush Saga, that I finally gave in and gave it a gander. It looked similar to Bejeweled Blitz, which I play every so often, so I thought at worst, I'd be able to play it every now and again to kill time. Well, I'm currently on level 80 and I'm still not sure what I think about the game - only that it's addicting, I'm not 100% certain what I'm doing on some levels yet, and I find it slightly annoying that I (and other players alike) have to wait until three friends come to our aid to unlock certain levels and move forward in the game. Eh, why? It limits the amount of time a person can play the game and the overall participation by players on the site. Also, it can get slightly aggravating to constantly be asked to help unlock other players. Perhaps the game's creators knew, like with candy, how addicting the game was going to be and decided to hopefully limit hardcore addiction (CCA - Candy Crush Anon...

Have you ever been talking to someone about a problem in your life and all they come back with is, "Well, you know, everything happens for a reason"? They'll say that or "You know, God has a plan for you." It reminds me of what a fortune cookie might read or what one's horoscope might say on a particular day. It's like a cop-out line in any conversation where a problem appears. Someone could be watching "The Young and the Restless" while listening to this problem and when their friend stops talking, even without hearing 86% of what was said, they can come back with, "Well, you know, everything happens for a reason" or "God has a plan for you." Now, I'll be honest, I used to think this quote was truthful, that everything did in fact happen for a reason. I also think it's probably a healthy way to look at things.
