Kirk Herbstreit Needs a Snickers

College GameDay analysts - Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit in particular - have been none too kind to the Cincinnati Bearcats this season. UC, of the American Athletic Conference, finished the season 13-0 and became the first group-of-5 team to get invited to the college football playoff.  What was Herbstreit's initial reaction? On ESPN's selection special, he said this: "But I'm confused. What about that narrative that the Group of Five wasn't allowed to get in? I heard there was a lot of buzz out there that the committee would never put a Group of Five (team) in. It's weird. They must not have gotten that rule." After receiving backlash for his comment, he doubled-down on Twitter with this post: "After SEVEN years of b*tching and complaining from a vocal minority that the CFP system is rigged and the 'small guy' will NEVER GET A CHANCE-haven't heard much from ya last couple days. Everything okay? What's the next conspiracy theory?? Can...

Getting sick of the College Gameday song

Is anybody else getting tired of the College Gameday song - Big & Rich's "Comin' To Your City" or is it just me? Admittedly, I'm not a big fan of country music first off, but how long has this been the theme song for Gameday? It may only have been three years, but it feels like seven. Some of the lyrics just makes me simultaneously laugh, shake my head and give myself a facepalm. "And if you want a little bang in your ying yang, If you wanna little zing in your zing zang, If you wanna little ting in your tang tang, Come along, come along, come along, come along..." Eh, no. http://www.lyricstop.com/c/comintoyourcity-bigrich.html

Do I care about Lee Corso's on-air slip of the tongue? Ah, f**k it...

For anyone that missed it, former college football coach and current ESPN commentator (known for being a member of ESPN Gameday on Saturday mornings) said a naughty word during a live broadcast yesterday morning. As the Gameday crew was in Houston to preview the SMU/Houston game, they saved the predictions for that game at the very end of the show. As Mr. Corso is known for doing, he teased the home fans and said something along the lines of, "How can you pick against SMU? Their colors are red, white and blue. U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.," before he said, "Ah, f**k it" and placed on his Houston Cougars' mascot-esque head gear. A clip of that moment can be viewed here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kmMdyJ89sY (and elsewhere) Corso released a short apology about a half hour later. Since that moment, I've read many comments regarding the incident, most of which were fairly positive, finding the slip up to be rather humorous. There were a few individuals whom ...
