Trump blames Jewish protesters for anger and violence at Nazi rally

Following a Nazi rally in Looneyville, Texas this past Saturday, where several fights broke out between Nazi supporters and Jewish protesters, which left 12 injured and hundreds with IQs in the single digits, GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump said the following about the matter:  "This is about two things really: 1) The First Amendment and 2) The biased lamestream media. The Jews at the rally are thugs, plain and simple. They were trying to take away Nazis' free speech with their protests! They need to take their anti-free speech ideas and shut up about them already! Seriously... Oh, and don't believe what the lamestream media is feeding you about this whole thing. They want you to believe these Nazi rallies are violent, that the people who go to these things are angry people, and that many often get hurt at these things, but that's not true; that's not true at all. If anything, these Nazi rallies are love-fests. Everyone here loves each other, well, unt...

Cause and effect according to Donald Trump

As I pointed out in a blog yesterday, multiple parties deserve at least some of the blame for the escalated tension and violence at Donald Trump rallies, including: The media (5% of the blame), the protesters (10% of the blame), and Trump supporters (10% of the blame). However, no matter what the current GOP frontrunner wants to believe, a large majority of the blame is with him and his rhetoric (75% of the blame). Based on Trump's commentary following recent protests at his rallies, which have resulted in one cancellation and potential multiple criminal charges (on both Trump supporters and protesters), he appears to be quite confused on the concept of cause and effect. He has yet to bear any responsibility for the escalated tension, anger, and violence at his rallies, instead fully blaming the protesters. Just from a chronological standpoint, how does that work exactly? According to Donald Trump Cause: Protesters respond to his angry rhetoric Effect: His angry rhetoric whi...

Right-wing outlets mislead about Chicago kindergarten "sex ed" classes

This school year, Chicago will implement age-appropriate sexual education for each grade level, making it the largest urban school district to do so. This includes kindergarten. ::awaits far-right conservatives providing the computer monitor with a look of shock, before yelling obscenities, and calling Obama the Antichrist:: Please re-read the first sentence - "...implement age-appropriate sexual education for each grade level..." For kindergarten and 1st grade, this will equate to nothing more than teaching these kids about "anatomy, healthy relationships, and personal safety." In other words, these kids aren't going to be learning about sexual intercourse, contraception, and sexually-transmitted diseases. Like I've said twice now, the education will be "age-appropriate." Good luck trying to get this point through to far right-wing websites, though, whom are doing everything in their power to stir controversy through misleading headlines and c...

The Chicago argument (against gun control)

Are you in favor of stricter gun control laws? Have you ever engaged in a debate on the subject with a far-right gun enthusiast? At some point in the conversation, have they brought up Chicago as evidence that gun control laws don't work? If so, you're not alone! Is Chicago known to have fairly strict gun laws? Yes. Is it known to have a high homicide rate? Yes again. However, there's more to the story than that. The fact is that gun-related crimes have been high in Chicago since before the stricter gun laws were enacted and such crimes have actually decreased since they were put into effect. Even with the stricter gun control laws, there are approximately six times as many guns that are owned in Chicago than in New York City. Also, while the gun laws may be stricter in Chicago than most other areas in this country, such laws are much more lax in other portions of the state and adjacent states. So, just because there is a high homicide rate in Chicago and there are fairly...
