The saying goes that “the pen is mightier than the sword.” In this day and age, though, that old saying may need to be rephrased to “the tweet is mightier than the sword” - especially if that tweet comes courtesy of one Donald J. Trump. I’m not joking when I say this, but I’ve heard countless times on mainstream media outlets that one big reason why Congressional Republicans - particularly those in the Senate - don’t stand up to the ...

Podcast: "I Feel Snitty," Episode 32: "The Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself. ...and Tweets...," is now available!

The latest episode of my podcast ( I Feel Snitty ), entitled, "The Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself. ...and Tweets - Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Tweets," is now available! Here's a brief description of it: In this episode, I attempt to toughen GOP Senators up by preparing them for the inevitable Twitter attack, at the index fingers of Fake President Donald J. Trump, in the off-chance they ever decide to place country ahead of party. In my best/worst Trumpian voice, I run down a list of potential nicknames for each and every one of the 53 Republican Senators, hoping this diminishes their fears of the horrifying tweet, and motivates them to love America more than Russia. I know; I'm a dreamer. Oh, and spoiler alert: These nicknames will likely be more clever than the ones Trump will ever be able to think up. The show can be heard in its entirety here:  https://ifeelsnitty.podbean.com/e/the-only-thing-we-have-to-fear-is-fear-itself-and-tweets-terri...

Sherrod, excuse me, Mr. Brown... Sorry, I didn't want to appear sexist...

While I tend to like Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown and don't care for the secrecy behind the TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) trade deal, I found the Ohio senator's recent attack on President Obama to be nothing short of ridiculous. After Senate Democrats placed a temporary halt to the bill yesterday, Senator Brown accused President Obama of being sexist when he referred to Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren as "Elizabeth." President Obama's full quote in question was this: "The truth of the matter is that Elizabeth is, you know, a politician like everybody else. And you know, she's got a voice that she wants to get out there. And I understand that. And on most issues, she and I deeply agree. On this one, though, her arguments don't stand the test of fact and scrutiny." Here was Senator Brown's response: "I think the president was disrespectful to her by the way he did that. I think that the president has made this more personal ...

Ted Cruz and Mike Lee celebrate anti-Valentine's Day

On Valentine's Day of all days, news broke that Republican Senators Ted Cruz (Texas) and Mike Lee (Utah) have introduced a bill, entitled, the "State Marriage Defense Act," which would prohibit the federal government from recognizing the marriages of same-sex couples if a particular state doesn't recognize them. This would also be the case for same-sex couples whom have been wed in states which recognize such marriages, but then move to a state which doesn't. Yes, love is certainly in the air! Can you feel it? Ted Cruz can - as he said the following with regard to the bill: "I support traditional marriage. Under President Obama, the federal government has tried to re-define marriage, and to undermine the constitutional authority of each state to define marriage consistent with the values of its citizens. The Obama Administration should not be trying to force gay marriage on all 50 states. We should respect states, and the definition of marriage should be...

John McCain and the GOP - 76 going on 13

Remember President George W. Bush and the Iraq War during his term? Remember how his popularity seemed to dwindle by the day following the peak at 9/11, and how support for his decision to invade Iraq seemed to diminish by the day as well? Especially after it was reported that the country possessed no weapons of mass destruction, which is why we invaded them in the first place? Yeah, those were the days, right? Why do I bring this up? Because Senate Republicans filibustered Defense Secretary nominee Chuck Hagel yesterday. It was the first time in our history that this has happened. Why did they do this one may ask? I'll let Arizona Senator and rumored co-lead to the upcoming film Grumpiest Old Men John McCain explain the reasoning. Keep in mind that Chuck Hagel is a former Republican Senator of Nebraska. McCain explained the reason for filibustering the former Republican Senator as follows: "It goes back to there's a lot of ill will towards Senator Hagel because when ...

Men are now officially frightened of New Hampshire

With Democrats Maggie Hassan, Carol Shea-Porter, and Ann McLane Kuster being elected as governor and representatives of New Hampshire last Tuesday, in addition to Republican Kelly Ayotte and Democrat Jeanne Shaheen being the state's two Senators, the state became the first in U.S. history to have an all-female congressional delegation. Rumor has it that men all across The Granite State are frightened and pondering whether or not to stay in state or move to either Maine or Vermont. While many men in the Republican Party had cast a war against women in the run up to the election, that has resulted in the women of New Hampshire congressional delegation being able to cast a war against men in the state. I'm thinking these five women will get together not long after the three newbies get set up at their new positions and will start a campaign directed at men which will be called, "Who's The B**ch Now?" http://www.boston.com/politicalintelligence/2012/11/07/new-ha...
