The Top Ten Times When You Shouldn't Take a Selfie

No, I'm not a fan of the selfie. Some may even call me a selfie-Scrooge, but in any case, there are some locations where a person should never take a selfie. Take a recent story I read about five burglary suspects in California. Ed Mazza of The Huffington Post reported the following about the incident: "An alleged burglar keeping watch outside a California home while her pals ransacked and robbed the place took a moment to snap a selfie, the Los Angeles Police Department said. Here's the raw video taken from one of the surveillance cameras at the home and posted on YouTube by the LAPD." Yes, that actually happened, and can be found at this link: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/11/burglar-selfie_n_5802026.html On that note, here are the top ten times when you shouldn't take a selfie: 10. While reading the book,  I'm Too Confident For Selfies 9. While jumping over a hurdle at the Olympics 8. After taking the snap from center on an all-ou...

Gun enthusiast caught on camera supporting expanded background checks

Alan Gottlieb is the executive vice president of the gun-rights group the Second Amendment Foundation, which is planning to team up with other such groups to hold a "Guns Save Lives Day" on the first-anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. After receiving a great deal of flack for the timing of the event, the groups have agreed to push it back a day - to December 15th. I know, how sweet of them, right? When he was a recent guest on the CNN show Piers Morgan Tonight , Gottlieb said this regarding the timing of the event with relation to the Newtown school shooting:  "My heart goes out to them... but that doesn't allow them to use that day either to attack my rights." Ah, the irony in that statement is so thick, I could have sworn it took steroids. Mr. Gottlieb is complaining that the anniversary of a horrific school shooting where 20 children and 6 adults were attacked and killed by way of a gun is somehow an attack o...

"The Fall" (a poem I wrote)

Here's the fourth and final poem I wrote last night: "The Fall" Words emanate from my mouth, The origin being my heart, Leaving myself open to pain, As I become vulnerable, My feelings strengthen, Which my words and actions showcase, As I begin to fall, In your direction, For every moment that we share, I fall a bit further, Praying that you catch me, That you accept my love, Gifts I give, Poems I write, Expressing my innermost thoughts and feelings, The ground closing in, I look up for acceptance, Look up for love, Before an agonizing pain fills me, As I fall to the ground.
