Trump Talks Childcare

In a recent Q&A session at the Economic Club of New York, Donald Trump engaged in the following back and forth. QUESTION: "If you win in November, can you commit to prioritizing legislation to make child care affordable? And if so, what specific piece of legislation will you advance?" TRUMP: "Well, I would do that, and we're sitting down. You know, I was somebody - we had, Senator Marco Rubio, and my daughter Ivanka, was so impactful on that issue. It's a very important issue. But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I'm talking about - that, because look, child care is child care, couldn't - you know, there's something - you have to have it in this country. You have to have it. But when you talk about those numbers, compared to the kind of numbers that I'm talking about by taxing foreign nations at levels that they're not used to. But they'll get used to it very quickly. And it's not going to stop them from doing b...

Ted Cruz wrote erotic fiction in a past life

After his crushing loss in the New York primary on Tuesday night, Texas Senator Ted Cruz decided to take the loss in the following fashion during a speech in Philadelphia: "Your choices to govern your work, your education, your future, if only Washington will get out of the way. Join me now, on this journey of less talk and more action, real solutions. Because I know you y ou may have been knocked down, but America's always been best when she is lying down with her back on the mat and the crowd has given the final count. It is time for us as a nation to get up, to shake it off and be who we were destined to be. Don't let anyone try to convince you otherwise." Yes, it appears Ted Cruz wrote erotic fiction in a former life. Based on this quote, I'm guessing Senator Cruz has written the following lines in an erotic novel he's been working on since college, likely titled, Making America My Bitch : - "America's always been best when she is twerking ...

Kudos to New York Representative Richard Hanna!

As the Republican Party veers further and further to the right, I find myself disagreeing with them more by the day. However, when one such politician goes against the grain and risks his/her political livelihood in order to stand up for what's right, I'll be the first one to acknowledge and thank them for doing so. That brings me to New York Representative Richard Hanna, a Republican, who recently said the following on the Keeler in the Morning radio show with regard to Planned Parenthood: "Do you really want women not to have access to health care? And do you believe in a woman's right to have domain over her own body, or the government's?" He added, "If Republicans are able to successfully outlaw abortion, it would have dire consequences. Do you really want it to go to back rooms?" This wasn't the first time the New York representative spoke out against his party veering too far to the right. In September, he was one of only three Hous...

Michael Bloomberg with regard to a homeless child: "That's just the way God works."

Due to his policies as Mayor of New York, the homeless have not been Michael Bloomberg's most ardent supporters. Just recently, the New York Times featured a series on a homeless family in New York City, where the central piece of the story was 11-year-old Dasani. When asked about this family and story, Mayor Bloomberg responded with this: "This kid was dealt a bad hand. I don't know quite why. That's just the way God works. Sometimes some of us are lucky and some of us are not." While I would strongly agree that some of us are luckier than others, his seeming shrug of the shoulders when saying, "That's just the way God works.," irked me a great deal. Instead of taking some ownership, that quote says to me, "There's nothing I could have done about it. Just place your faith in an invisible man and hopefully a miracle will ensue." It could also be interpreted as, "It's not my fault. It's God's. Take it up with h...

Peter King goes after Ted Cruz

Well, it appears at least one Congressional Republican has enough brass to go after Ted Cruz - the main force behind the government shutdown. In a recent interview, New York Congressman Peter King said the following about the shutdown and Senator Cruz: "Instead we look like the crazies. Shutting down the government, throwing barricades against the White House, and having Ted Cruz reading Dr. Seuss, this is like the theater of the absurd. Except that it's serious." and "I don't mean this in an egotistical way, I'm the only one who's been going after Cruz by name. And there's a purpose for that, because this is going to come back again in two to three months, whether it's January 15 or February 7 or whatever, there's going to be a threat of another shutdown. And he's going to be coming back, rewriting history, saying, 'We were on the verge of victory back in October, and we could have won if we'd just stayed in there anothe...

Republican Congressman Peter King: "This party is going nuts."

It's bad enough when only about a quarter of the country has a favorable view of a political party, while between half and two-thirds have an unfavorable view of it. It's even worse when members of that very party start publicly agreeing with the majority of the country. Republican New York Representative Peter King recently said the following with regard to how his party has behaved during the government shutdown: "This party is going nuts. So many people I run into who are normal people - and I hate to use that term - they just can't understand what's going on. ... Even if this bill passed tonight, what would it have done? After shutting down the government for two and a half weeks, laying off 800,000 people, all the damage we caused, all we would end up doing was taking away health insurance from congressional employees. That's it? That's what you go to war for? That's what we shut down the United States government for?" Yes, evidently. ...

Racism is dead? Not so fast, says the Miss America Pageant!

Last night, Nina Davuluri was crowned the winner of the 2014 Miss America Pageant. She's an Indian-American woman who was born in Syracuse, New York, and is believed to practice Hinduism. What did some lovely commentators have to say about this via Twitter? Oh, just the following: - "9/11 was 4 days ago and she gets miss America?" - Luke Brasili What does an Indian-American woman winning a Miss America Pageant have to do with the 9/11 terrorist attacks? Anything? Anything? Bueller? - "I am literarily soo mad right now a ARAB won #MissAmerica" - Dallas Robinson I'm "literally" so mad that Mr. Robinson can't correctly spell the before-mentioned word. - "How the f**k does a foreigner win miss America? She is a Arab! #idiots" - John Amick I'm quite happy Mr. Amick included the hashtag of idiots, because that's exactly what he is. True or false, Mr. Amick - is the state of New York a state in the United States? I'...

Anthony Weiner Headline Top Ten List

After former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner announced he was going to be running for Mayor of New York City, journalists had a field day with the news on account of his last name. One headline read, "Weiner's In!" In light of that, I decided to join the party of immaturity and make up a few such headlines of my own with a top ten list. Top Ten Anthony Weiner Newspaper Headlines Leading to Election Day 10. "Weiner Has Got a Mind of His Own" 9. "Women Voters Lean Toward Weiner" 8. "Weiner to Create Jobs" 7. "Weiner Goes Green" 6. "Weiner Limps to the Finish Line" 5. "Weiner Rises Up to the Challenge" 4. "Weiner Shrinking in the Polls" 3. "Weiner Explodes at the Press" 2. "Weiner Sticks It to His Opponent in the First Debate" 1. ::drum roll:: "Does Weiner have the balls to win this thing?"

All About the Weiner (Anthony)!

It appears as if it's now official - former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner will be running for mayor. For anyone who forgot, Weiner got into trouble as a Congressman due to the tweeting of his bulge to women. I'm quite glad the former Congressman is running for mayor, because it will make for some lovely headlines. Just this morning, I read a headline which said, "Weiner In!" The funny part about that is Weiner never actually got it in during the sex scandal, since he only tweeted pictures of his manhood. Some other future headlines pertaining to this story will likely be the following: "Democrats Stand Erect For Weiner" "Democrats Sit Erect For Weiner" "College Kids Love Voting For A. Weiner" "Sticking Up For Weiner" "Standing Up For Weiner" "Weiner is neck and neck with his opponent" "Coming Out - I Love Weiner, Anthony Weiner That Is" "Does Weiner have the balls ...

Weiner making a comeback!

Ah, remember Anthony Weiner? Well, the former New York Congressman is back in the news again! He's kept his junk in the trunk (so to speak), temporarily at least, and is thinking about running for mayor! In case anyone has forgotten, Weiner got caught in a tweeting-his-bulge scandal and resigned from office as a result. New Yorkers should be rejoicing right about now, especially those whom didn't much care for Mayor Bloomberg's vision with regard to soda pop and guns! While Bloomberg believes in banning supersize soda, Weiner has shown that he believes bigger is better! Also, while Bloomberg believes in stricter gun restrictions, Weiner believes people should show off and fire their guns as much as is humanly possible! If that's not enough to convince New Yorkers that they should stick up for Weiner and stick him into office again, just hear what the former Congressman's brother had to say about the new and improved Weiner: "I wouldn't stand for oth...
