The irony of Nebraska fans whom harshly criticize Richard Sherman

Being born in Nebraska and having lived there for 26 of my 32 years, a large majority of the people I know still reside in the Cornhusker state and keep in touch with me via Facebook. Following the Seattle Seahawks' 23-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game on Sunday night, I've been rather surprised by the number of Nebraska fans whom have harshly criticized Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman's post-game comments - going as far as to call him an a*shole, who is bound to be in a prison cell one day. While I'd be the first to admit that Sherman's comments were over-the-top, I also think the story has gotten completely blown out-of-proportion and I find it highly ironic that, Nebraska fans of all people, have the gall to say such things with regard to Sherman's post-game rant. Once again, here's what Sherman said: "I'm the best corner in the game. When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that's the result...

A deeper look inside Bo Pelini's record

Having lived in Nebraska for 27 years, I know how much the state loves college football and their Cornhuskers. The team was great in the '90s under head coach Tom Osborne. They had their moments under Frank Solich. Bill Callahan was a bust. Then came Bo Pelini, who, in his 6th season, has been consistent, but hasn't shown much, if any progression from year one to year six and the state appears to be about split down the middle on whether or not he should stay in Lincoln for a seventh season. On Facebook and other such sites, it has seemed as though Pelini defenders have been more outspoken than his detractors. Just recently, Zach Tegler of The Daily Nebraskan  wrote such an article, defending the current Nebraska coach, starting his piece with this: "Of the 2,053 men who have ever coached major college football, 107 – about 5 percent – had winning percentages of .706 or better through five seasons. Of those 107 coaches, 43 are in the College Football Hall of Fame. Si...

Bo Pelini is in need of some medicinal marijuana

Even though Nebraska's athletic director made a statement declaring head coach Bo Pelini as the team's coach this season and for seasons to come, I have a difficult time believing that. Chances are the AD was simply trying to maintain committed recruits and trying not to dissuade undecided ones. Following Pelini's embarrassing 38-17 loss to Iowa this past Saturday and his awful sideline antics which resulted in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that allowed Iowa to kick a field goal, I have a hard time believing he'll be around after the bowl game - especially if the Huskers lose and fall to 8-5 on the season. If Pelini is indeed fired at the end of the season, I have a feeling he will take a year off from coaching, fly to Nepal, find his center and happy-place, and come back to the States to become a yoga instructor, with a hit workout, entitled, Calming the F**k Down!

Bo Pelini's Greatest F**king Hits

Much has been made about Nebraska head football coach Bo Pelini's recently reported tirade where he uttered the f-bomb more within one minute than actors in a Quentin Tarantino film called  Saying F**k A Lot . Given that, here is what I imagine Mr. Pelini would say in the following situations: Situation: Ordering a pizza Pelini: "Yeah, I'd like a f**king delivery, please." Situation: Getting pulled over by a cop Cop: "Have you been drinking tonight, sir?" Pelini: "F**k no!" Situation: Parent-teacher conference Pelini: "So, I see my kid has a f**kin' 'C' - is that right?" Situation: On his kids' birthdays Pelini: "Happy f**kin' birthday, sweetie." Situation: At the end of a prayer at church Pelini: "A-f**king-men" Situation: Singing the National Anthem prior to a game Pelini: "...Some f**kin' bombs in the air..." Situation: Just prior to eating Thanksgi...

Die-hard fans make me laugh sometimes

In response to Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini's tirade directed at a local columnist as well as Huskers fans, I've read many Huskers fans defending Bo, saying, "We're with you, Bo!" Here's how this strange make-believe conversation between the two parties plays out in my mind: Pelini: "F**k you guys! F**k all of you! F**k the fans! F**k every single one of you!" Nebraska fan: "Exactly! F**k us! We love you, Bo!" Pelini: "F**k you!" Nebraska fan: "I love you!" Pelini: "Did you not f**king hear me, dipsh*t? I said f**k you!" Nebraska fan: "I know! I love you!" Pelini: "What the f**k? I'm getting the f**k out of here! You people are f**kin' crazy! F**k!" Nebraska fan: "Don't leave! I love you!" Hmm... Perhaps some die-hard fans are masochists.

(Bo) Pelini's Playhouse, where the word of the day is always f**k

Nebraska head football coach Bo Pelini has never been known as a smooth-talker and has not been very coy about screaming obscenities while on the sidelines during games. Even with this almost drunken sailor-esque reputation, however, Pelini's recently reported tirade surprised me, and in light of it and the team's defensive woes, I think I'd be equally as surprised to see him last past this season as the Huskers' head coach. Following a comeback victory against Ohio State in Lincoln on October 8th of 2011, and just preceding an interview with Greg Sharpe of the Husker Sports Network , Pelini was recorded saying the following: "F**k him, too ( World-Herald  columnist Tom Shatel). F**k him. That's what I'm going to tell him. He wants to walk out after my press conference? I'm gonna say, 'Get the f**k away from me. I'm done with you, motherf**ker. I'm done with him." and "It took everything in my power to not say, 'F**k yo...
