We'll stop talking about it when action is finally taken!

After the horrific mass shooting in Orlando, Florida over the weekend, I can't tell you how many times I heard the following statements: - "Let's not politicize this tragedy." - "It's too soon to talk about this." - "Let's hold a moment of silence and pray." - "Let's discuss at a later time." - "I'm so sick of talking about mass shootings and guns!" Well, guess what? We're all sick of having to discuss this subject on a seemingly weekly basis, but you know who's sickest of all? The victims' friends and family members. Time after time we go through this same cycle: 1) A mass shooting occurs 2) The GOP says we'll discuss gun violence at a later date 3) That discussion never takes place 4) Another mass shooting occurs We are in this continuous deadly cycle of ignoring gun violence. Every time we don't talk about this subject, we place more lives at risk. Thoughts and prayers...

GOP says it's too soon to talk about terrorism

Following the San Bernardino shooting last week where 14 were killed and 21 others wounded, which the FBI is investigating as an act of terrorism, President Barack Obama said it was time to pass stricter laws in order to make it more difficult for terrorists to perform acts of terror within this country. Republicans quickly shot back, saying, "It's too soon to talk about terrorism," as well as, "Don't listen to the Democrats trying to use this terrorist act to set forth a political agenda." When I caught up with some of the GOP's leading presidential candidates, here's what they had to say about the matter: - "Bombs don't kill people; terrorists with bombs kill people." - Marco Rubio - "The only way to stop a bad terrorist with a gun is a good terrorist with a gun." - Ted Cruz - "No matter what terrorism laws we implement, terrorists are going to find a way to break those laws, so why harm the rights of law-abiding ...
