Men really are idiotic a-holes sometimes...

U.N. Women and Promundo conducted a study on sexual harassment, as they asked 4,830 men in the countries of Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, and Palestine if they had ever sexually harassed women in public with anything from "ogling" to "groping" and "rape." Embarrassingly, the numbers ranged from 31% (in Lebanon) to 64% (in Egypt). If that wasn't bad enough, up to 90% of the men surveyed (in Egypt) said they harassed these women because they thought it was fun. Sadly, those weren't even the most eye-popping numbers in the survey. In all four countries, a greater number of men than women said the women liked the harassment due to the attention they received from it. In Morocco, 71% of men felt this way. I'm sorry, but men really are idiots sometimes. There is a stark difference between flirting and harassing, between complimenting and obsessing, between making a woman feel flattered and making her feel violated. According to the men in this survey,...

CatholicVote.org is alone in thinking their "Not Alone" video is clever...

Not long after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of marriage equality for gay and lesbian couples nationwide, the nonprofit group CatholicVote.org  decided to release a video with their reaction to the landmark ruling. The video is entitled, "Not Alone," is black-and-white, features music that comes across like a Sarah McLachlan song from a starving-children's or abused-dogs' commercial, and presents each of six young adults individually, as they sit down in a chair and look like they're about to say something of great importance. Here's what they all had to say: "I am a little bit nervous about people, um, kind of hearing that I'm this way and thinking, well, um, she's, she's not welcome here." "I would say I am different. We're all different." "Most people probably think I'm already weird anyway, so, I mean, I don't think society's impression of me is going to change drastically based on one or two ...

The replacement refs continue to, for lack of a better word, suck

Here's just one story from yesterday's NFL action where the replacement refs did in fact appear to be more clueless than Forrest Gump when listening to Albert Einstein speak. In a game between the Arizona Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles, the Cardinals quarterback - Kevin Kolb - got sacked on a 1st down play. The Cardinals were also flagged for holding. To my surprise, the head official stated that Philly would take the holding call and it'd remain 1st down. At that point, Philly head coach Andy Reid had a few words for the officials and informed them that he wanted to decline the penalty. The head official came out, said the penalty was declined and it'd result in the down being 3rd. Yes - from 1st to 3rd. Then Arizona head coach Ken Whisenhunt spoke to the official to inform them the down wasn't three. The head official came back out, said that Philly had accepted the penalty and it'd result in it being 2nd down. In other words, Philly declined the pena...
